The subject of the research is the most frequent lexis excerpted in the form of an frequency list from Listy z podróży po Włoszech by Konstanty Gaszyński. The collected material consists of 300 words. The most common vocabulary was grouped into 9 semantic-lexical circles and analyzed using the research tools of cultural linguistics. It is difficult to characterise all cultural and linguistic areas in which the number three plays a very important role and performs many functions. Out of necessity, this article will limit itself to selected ones: various contemporary and past religions; folk culture; sports; children’s rhymes and counting books; phraseological idioms, proverbs and maxims. The draft’s author explains in detail the mechanism of error of this popular lingual hybrid and reflects on the causes for the several decade-long popularity of this structure, notabene sanctionaed in normative linguistic compendiums, as well as numerous lexicons and dictionaries. The issue of this unfortunate error in this case has been silhouetted against the issue of awareness on proper and subtle use of Latin expressions, phrases, and idioms in scientific dissertations and media publications. Presented rules were excerpted from the review of word ethics literature. These are: the principle of equality, the principle of inclusion, the principle of honesty and truthfulness, the principle of non-coercion, the principle of non-dehumanization, the principle of taking into account human complexity and multidimensionality, and the principle of preserving and respecting autonomy. The article presents types of linguistic behaviour, which proves that the indicated rules are respected and disregarded in the communication process. In order to systematize the analysis of both types of behaviour, in the article a code key was used. The aim of the presented analyses was to examine the basic category of truth for the information (press) releas and to indicate its linguistic exponents. The analyses adopted a mediolinguistic perspective, referred to the semantics and pragmatics of truth combined with the field of press texts and to the concept of the „factual pact”. As a rule organizing the material base, the author adopted the method of thematic fields, which will allow to distinguish conceptual categories typical of the rural linguistic and cultural community. The research is based on text corpora in these three languages. Its objective is to analyse the linguistic images of the word holiday and its Lithuanian and Polish equivalents and to examine their collocational (non)coincidence in order to systematize the teaching/learning of collocations to French learners. {"title":"Mitologizmy grecko-rzymskie w retrokryminałach Marka Krajewskiego – konwencja i inwencja w aspekcie funkcjonalnym","authors":"Magdalena Puda-Blokesz","doi":"10.24917/20831765.17.14","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24917/20831765.17.14","url":null,"abstract":"The subject to be presented and described in the present paper are word combinations with mythological (Graeco-Roman) origins occurring in eight crime novels penned by Marek Krajewski, taking the shape of: (i) better or less known phrasemes, or conventional petrified multiword units reproduced in a communicative act to express particular intentions and intensions; (ii) phrasematic innovations, or phrasemes modified formally and/or semantically and used against the grain of the phraseological norm; or (iii) literary nonce phrasemes, that is multiword units created ad hoc for the purposes of style and world depiction, containing eponyms and eponymisms of mythological origin which exist in Polish. The proposed examination of conventional (the titular convention), innovative, and nonce (the titular invention) units used in the excerpted crime novels is of a qualitative and functional nature, since its focus is on an attempt to point out and discuss the functions which the selected examples serve in the literary messaging. Polyword mythology-based expressions fulfil numerous and various (often at the same time) functions in M.
