A digital up-conversion technique is discussed in this paper to upconvert the baseband signal to RF carrier frequency in digital domain. All digital transmitters are digital in nature from baseband signal to RF upconversion. Therefore, such all-digital transmitters are very useful in upcoming advanced 5G communication systems. The proposed all digital transmitter architecture is verified in simulation and hardware using 20 MHz long term evolution (LTE) signal with 11 dB peak to average power ratio (PAPR). The measurement results show the good performance of transmitter using digital upconversion technique. The proposed all digital technique is verified using 2nd, 3rd and 4th order low pass DSM (LP-DSM) with different quantized levels. The performance of proposed scheme in terms of coding efficiency (CE) and signal to noise distortion ratio (SNDR) is discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":338001,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and RF Conference (IMARC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127413118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tunability in center frequency of SIW BPF is first estimated with the help of full-wave 3D EM simulator and then verified experimentally. Tunability is achieved with variation in position, dimension and permittivity of dielectric rods. This initial investigation demonstrates a wide tuning capability of the proposed technique with an insertion loss less than 2dB and return loss greater than 10dB in X-band.","PeriodicalId":338001,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and RF Conference (IMARC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123145946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A procedure is shown for correcting the velocity errors in the spectrographs that is due to ship’s motion during radar scanning. A novel thresholding criterion named as spectral signal quality index (SSQI) is developed to suppress noise and unwanted interference in the spectral domain processing. It is shown that the application of SSQI based thresholding leads to a better discrimination of weather signals against noise and sea clutter. This technique is demonstrated using data from SEAPOL a C-band shipborne dual polarimetric weather radar to effectively remove sea clutter.","PeriodicalId":338001,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and RF Conference (IMARC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129628030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the current manufacturing methods for THz emission and detection devices are limited due to the associated cost and complexity, therefore alternative ways have been sought driven by the availability of new technologies. From recent research in the field of imaging, commercially available Glow Discharge Detectors (GDDs) have been found to be an interesting solution because of their low cost and efficiency in detecting electromagnetic (EM) radiation from microwave to higher frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum. Several studies have been carried out in the scope of millimeter/sub-millimeter waves to understand how its detection mechanism changes for higher frequencies and how the mechanisms of plasma generation influence the device's performance. In this paper, we aim to study the interaction between THz waves and the structure of a GDD, namely, its reflection, transmission and losses. Numerical modelling of electromagnetics, by solving the Maxwell’s equations, has been undertaken for this type of device using different gas pressures of the lamp. Our results show that these devices are not optimized for the THz domain.","PeriodicalId":338001,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and RF Conference (IMARC)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114399152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensor is designed at the UHF RFID band so that it can be tweaked easily to a chip-based RFID sensor. Alongside the designed sensor, a theoretical soil model with different moisture and salinity levels is simulated here. A fabricated prototype is used to measure the variation of moisture and salinity levels in sandy soil. Both the simulated and measured results exhibit frequency shift of sensor resonance with moisture content variation at non-saline conditions. However, if the soil is saline, the resonance amplitude gets reduced with increased salinity levels and exhibits moisture content independence and hence no frequency variation.","PeriodicalId":338001,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and RF Conference (IMARC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134576172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
