The model is obtained by means of experimental modelling using an online learning procedure that combines model identification with pre- and post-identification steps that provide reliable operation. There is a choice of several control algorithms suitable for different processes that may be used for control and whose parameters are automatically tuned from the model. The controller monitors the resulting control performance and may react to detected irregularities. The choice of the controller structure and algorithms allows implementation on available industrial hardware, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or open controllers, and simplifies configuration of parameters.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. The known blind source separation (BSS) approach is upgraded with a separation of sources using a classification procedure. Single source contributions are looked for in spatial time-frequency distribution (STFD) of the observed signals. The classification is based on STFD matrices which are grouped in the orthogonal and similar classes. The resulting separation algorithm outperforms other known approaches, as well in accuracy as by lower computational complexity.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. Since measurements of high-frequency power-line characteristics are rare due to permission of power utilities for access to power lines, computer simulations have a crucial role in design of communication systems via power lines. Simulated high-frequency and noise characteristics of 400 kV power line are presented and compared with measurements on actual power line.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. The analyses and the design procedure are based on experimental evaluation. The appropriate user of the snubber circuit can increase the power range of the low-power dc-dc converters available as interacted circuit. The evaluation of snubber circuit is based on experimental results and its approximation. For approximation purposes, the method based on differential evolution algorithm has been used. This method enables that the power transistor dissipation can be 30% lower in the case that the efficiency of converter does not change. Benefits, drawbacks and limits of the proposed approach are detailed and studied. Experimental results, obtained from boost laboratory prototype converter are reported.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. These services will be assessable from a range of networks dependent on the QoS requirements of the application and location, which could be in the office, home or \"on the move\". This paper presents an architecture to support end user control of QoS over heterogeneous wireless networks. These wireless access networks will consist of various types and generations of cellular networks, and wireless local and personal area networks. The architecture described in this paper proposes a wireless resource manager that selects the \"always best connected\" access network technology consistent with the QoS requirements of the application, availability of network and service costs. It also supports dynamic allocation of access network preventing forced termination of session and allowing users to move between heterogeneous networks within sessions.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003.
