The online examinations are used as a solution  to make the school program still go on. This study focuses on students’ perceptions on the use of Socrative in the middle test.. The research involved 80 participants consisting  of 42 students of 8th and 38 students of 7th class from SMPN 48 Surabaya East Java. The data were collected through questionnaires and were analyzed to get the students perception. The results of the study indicated that  majority of participants considered the use of Socrative in the middle test  practical, effective and efficient in terms of time. This study was quantitative research and used experimental method. The quasi experimental was used as the research design and test was the instrument. The students of the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 5 Sidoarjo were as the sample. The number of students in this study was 66 people that 33 people were experimental class students and 33 people were as controlled class students.  The SPSS 20 was used to calculate the data. It was proven that sig.2 tailed (p) was for the test of hypothesis proved that sig. 2 tailed (p) was 0.049 while alpha (α) was 0.05. In other words, p < α. It meant that the Ho (Null Hypothesis) was denied and Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was allowed. It was proven that it had a positive effect of using receipts to students’ writing skill of recount text. Moreover, the result of Cohen’s formulation calculation proved the effect size of receipts result was 0.49. It used the pre-test post-test design in classroom action research model for the students in class VIII-G as subjects selected from sampled classes. T-test was used as the statistical technique for the data analysis. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed the data in the tables t-Test: Paired Two Sample for Means (VIII-G) reveal that the obtained t-value was -10.83171521 which were well above the limit of 0.05 of significance. The post-test had a higher mean of 80.39473684. While the pre-test had a mean of 69.36842105. Because p-value (4.97263E-13) was less than the standard significance level of 0.05, researchers can reject the null hypothesis (Ho). Thus, the second hypothesis (Ha) was accepted regarding there is significant effect of the implementation of board games through the students’ achievement in writing skill through descriptive text. It is hereby recommended that English teachers should adapt this model to enhance students’ achievement in other English skills. For students, it is suggested they have to be more paying attention to the model of teaching being applied such as the implementation of board games through the students’ achievement in writing skill through descriptive text so they can be able to explore their skill of writing as well. The study was designed in the form of qualitative descriptive study. The subjects in this study were the lecturer in the 5th semester of students of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo who teaches the Advance English Grammar subject. The data were collected by using the methods of recording and writing on note of what lecturer said in teaching learning process, then collected it and classified based on grammatical aspect of code mixing, code switching, sociolinguistic aspect, and the function (phatic function) of code mixing and code switching. A grammatical focused on the structural aspect of code mixing and code switching. While, a sociolinguistic approach was concerned with the role of social factors of code mixing and code switching. The result of this research showed that the grammatical aspect of code mixing and code switching are extra-sentential/tag mixing and switching, inter-sentential mixing and switching, and intra word of code mixing and code switching. Sociolinguistic aspects of code switching are situational and metaphorical switching. The functions of code switching were referential function, directive function, phatic function and metalinguistic function. But this study only focused on phatic function to clarify or emphasize a message. This is a classroom action research (CAR) implemented in two cycles, on the eleventh-grade students of Madrasah Aliyah NU Sidoarjo in 2019/2020 academic year. This research uses quasi-experimental design which has these criteria based on Mueller: 1). No random selection of subjects; 2). Pre-test both groups; 3). Experimental group receives new treatment; 4). Control group receive no treatment or the normal treatment; 5).  Post-test both groups. The population is 126 students. The samples are ten students of XI MIPA 1 as the experimental group and ten students of XI MIPA 2 as the control group. The independent variable is Instagram picture series as media of teaching writing. The dependent variable is the students’ ability in writing procedure text. In collecting the data, the researcher applied instrument: interview, questionnaire, Instagram application, writing pre-test and writing post-test. The data was analyzed statistically using T-test. The researcher examines two cycles of test. As the result in the first cycle, the pre-test average score of the control group is 44 and the experimental group is 45.5. In the first cycle of pot-test, the average score of the control group is 70 and the experimental group is 78. Both of them don’t get the Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM) or the level of basic competence score which is 80. So, the second cycle of post-test is held. As the result, the average score of the control group is 74 and the experimental group is 82.5. The next cycle of post-test isn’t needed because the average score of the experimental group is already passed over the KKM. The quality of each particular item was analyzed in terms of item difficulty, item discrimination and distractor analysis. The statistical tests were used to compute the reliability of the test by applying The Kuder-Richardson Formula (KR20). The analysis of 50 test items was computed using Microsoft Office Excel. A descriptive method was applied to describe and examined the data. The research findings showed the test fulfilled the criteria of having content validity which was categorized as a low validity. Meanwhile, the reliability value of the test scores was 0.521010831 (0.52) categorized as lower reliability and revision of test. Through the 50 items examined, there were 21 items that were in need of improvement which were classified into “easy” for the index difficulty and “poor” category for the discriminability by the total 26 items (52%). It means more than 50% of the test items need to be revised as the items do not meet the criteria. This study was descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from the tenth grade students of senior high school in Sidoarjo. The data collecting technique used instruments of observation field note, interview and test. From the observation field note was described that the implementation of teaching learning process given were: First, the way of speaking descriptive text was explained to the students. Second, the examples of generic structure of descrptive text were displayed. Third, the way to describe picture profile from the Facebook was explained to the students. The last, the pleasant atmosphere was created while the students tried to operate Facebook for describing the profile of someone. Further, the results of test had shown that the  students’ scores were good; with the average scores > 75. This study was done by applying descriptive qualitative design by in the semantics theory supported by theory of figurative meaning proposed by Leech (1981). The instrument was the researcher as the primary instrument of the study. The data were examined into the description form within the poetry. The findings showed: (1) This poetry portrayed the war in Military Aggression I and II in Indonesia and described the story of the young soldiers Indonesia to grab Indonesia‘s independency; (2) Chairil Anwar also wrote the peace messages from the young dead soldiers who killed during the war. Chairil Anwar used alliteration and refrain to make a lyrical sound; used visual imagery, internal sensation imagery, and auditory imagery to involve the reader into the poetry. The researcher is focused on the analysis of “Guess What” textbook. There are 2 parts of this book; pupils’ book and activity book. The students in this school only use the activity book to do the exercise while the teacher has both. In this study, the researcher took the data from the materials in the textbook to analyze whether this book compatible with the question indicators in English final exam framework or not. The result of this study tells that the compatibility is 62% and the incompatibility is 38% from the total questions 50 numbers, 30 numbers are multiple choice, 15 numbers are short answer and 5 essay questions.
