Research universities/research-based universities are characterized by the presence of research activities in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Several universities in Indonesia have declared themselves to be research universities, and others are in the process of doing so. Research universities must meet various indicators, all of which stem from research activities. The purpose of this paper is to investigate and compare the readiness of Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya (UWKS) to become a research university. One method for achieving these goals is the formation of research groups. This essay uses a narrative review design. A UWKS is a private university founded in 1981 in Surabaya, East Java. A long track record of research since its establishment is sufficient provision to prepare it to become a research university. This is also supported by the university's academic community and the foundation that manages it, when viewed from the vision, mission, and objectives. The formation of various research groups could be the start of the development of research universities. They will enable lecturers to produce targeted outputs as indicators of research performance, such as research groups for early detection of chronic degenerative diseases based on specific Indonesian polymorphisms. The paper's conclusion was that UWKS has the potential to become a research university based on its track record. The formation of many research groups is one way to accomplish this.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85965280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increasing prevalence of osteoarthritis is associated with jobs that require physical strength (physically demanding) or heavy work, one of which is agriculture. This is in line with the World Health Organization's statement, farming for 1-9 years increases the risk of osteoarthritis 4.5 times. Besides, farming for 10 years or more increases the risk of osteoarthritis by 9.3 times. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between pesticide use and workload (which includes work attitude, working period, and heavylifting) and the incidence of osteoarthritis in farmers. This study uses a narrative review method on journals of the last 10 years. The results of this study indicate that pesticides are not associated with osteoarthritis, based on studies on osteoarthritis patients that show no difference in serum concentrations of organophosphate, pyrethroid, and nenonicotinoid pesticides and their metabolites. Conversely, work attitude and working period are associated with osteoarthritis in farmers. The work attitude associated with osteoarthritis especially knee osteoarthritis is the squatting and kneeling posture. Meanwhile, the heavylifting did not have a significant relationship with osteoarthritis, especially knee osteoarthritis among farmers. The conclusion of this study is there is no relationship between the use of pesticide and osteoarthritis. However, there is a relationship between work attitudes & working period and osteoarthritis in farmers.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"52 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72522305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In December 2019, this disease was encountered in Wuhan, China. Covid-19 is still a global pandemic to this day. Obesity is one of the comorbidities which has been shown to increase the severity of COVID-19 cases. There is research which stated that invasive mechanical ventilation may contribute to mortality rate in severe case of COVID-19. Other than that, the increase rate of severe COVID-19 cases and the limited availability of facilities and infrastructure makes the usage of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) begins to be considered. Aim of this case report is to represent the outcome of obese COVID-19 patient whom treated with HFNC, furthermore could evoke readers to take further research of the effectiveness of HFC usage as an oxygen therapy in severe COVID-19 cases. Case summary: 21 years old woman came to Emergency Department in Wangaya Regional Hospital with shortness of breath, unproductive cough, sore throat, and inability to smell. Patient was treated and diagnosed with confirmed severe COVID-19. She got obesity as comorbidity (weight 105 kg; height 160 cm; Body Mass Index (BMI) 41.02 kg/m2). Patient was treated for 15 days, which include 10 days of treatment in negative pressure ward in Intensive Care Unit Department (ICU). During the treatment course, patient received pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment, including the administration of HFNC. After five days of HFNC usage, oxygen supplementation was downgraded to conventional oxygen supplementation (non-rebreather mask and nasal cannula). Patient then discharge without any complain and proceed self-quarantine at home. HFNC could be considered as one of non-invasive oxygen supplementation treatment in patient with severe COVID-19 disease. The initiation of usage of HFNC could be started with 30 L/minute flow, with 40% fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) in accordance to patient comfort with Sp02 target 92-96%. If there is an increased breathing effort, high respiratory rate, and unachieved Sp02 target, flow and inspiration fraction titrated gradually. ROX index could be used as a treatment failure indication and the need of invasive ventilation.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"276 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80762752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The negative effect that can arise is the safety of organophosphate drugs which can contaminate the soil and water sources around the place where organophosphate drugs are used. The negative effects of organophosphates are associated with the effects of xenobiotics on humans who consume them. Xenobiotics are associated with toxicdynamic effects where organophosphates cause irreversible inhibition of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (ACh). ACh is one of the main enzymes in the nervous system that terminates impulse conduction through the hydrolysis process of acetylcholine enzymes. Acetylcholinesterase is a specific molecular target of organophosphate pesticides. The inhibition of the Ach enzyme causes the inhibition of the acetylcholine enzyme which is normally always hydrolyzed by the Ach enzyme and is a specific biological marker of pesticide poisoning. Inhibition of ACh will cause the accumulation of the enzyme acetylcholine, resulting in negative effects of organophosphate poisoning which can lead to death. In this paper, the authors collect from various sources related to the study of molecular toxicology toxidynamic effects of drug safety and organophosphate poisoning. The results of this review article show that organophosphate poisoning is associated with irreversible inhibition of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme which results in death in the individual concerned.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85261585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
