Determining the right timing for these examinations can significantly impact their accuracy. In November 2021, there was a notable surge in cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever at the Karawang Health Center, Sukabumi. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the duration of fever and the results of dengue antigen and antibody tests. The research employed a descriptive analysis with a cross-sectional approach, and a sample of 50 individuals was gathered through consecutive sampling. The data was then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The study revealed a positive correlation between the duration of fever and the outcomes of the NS1 and IgG Dengue examinations (p<0.05), highlighting the significance of timing when conducting these tests. NS1 was predominantly detected within the first three days of fever, while IgG showed reactivity after more than five days of fever. These findings underscore the importance of timing when conducting these tests and interpreting their results.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136280463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It customarily requires deliberate perioperative assessment. In this article we present a case of limited mouth opening along with restricted mobility of the temporomandibular joint secondary to mandibular abscess which requires surgical intervention. Preoperatively, difficult airway intubation was expected (based on LEMON mnemonic on preoperative evaluation). Therefore, Macintosh video laryngoscope and fiberoptic bronchoscope was prepared to aid in intubation. Due to the patient’s anxiety towards the procedure, the intubation was done while the patient is asleep. Preoxygenation was uneventfully. Following induction with general anesthesia, several attempts to conduct nasotracheal intubation using Macintosh video laryngoscope were made but all were abortive. This failed attempt is primarily due to the limited mouth opening and jaw mobility. Hence, fiberoptic bronchoscope-assisted nasotracheal intubation was conducted and was able to achieve airway patency. In conclusion, preoperative management holds great importance in selecting airway management strategy. To add, fiberoptic bronchoscope-assisted intubation is a safe option for intubation","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136280467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Body Mass Index (BMI) to control normal body weight is achieved by adjusting body height. BMI can be used to interpret the possibility that the person is at risk of developing risk of weight-related diseases. The human feet are the most important part of supporting our body and can be correlated with body weight. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and the shape of the longitudinal arcus pedis angle in medical students in Surabaya. An analytic observational method with a cross-sectional research design was used with a sample size of 53 students. The results of this study conclude that there is a significant relationship between Body Mass Index and the shape of the longitudinal curve of the pedis in students (p-value: 0.009). An increased BMI will cause the pedis angle to widen which will result in the feet becoming flatter, thus affecting the body's balance when standing for a long time. Strong legs are associated with a normal Body Mass Index.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136341975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Obese patients are at risk for complications related to some non-communicable diseases. The difficulty of losing weight in obese patients is due to low awareness of a good lifestyle, appropriate dietary patterns, and discipline in taking drugs to prevent complications. However, the need for drug consumption takes a long time. The risk of side effects arising from long-term drug use needs to be considered. Using herbal plants as an additional dietary intervention could be a better choice. This review described the benefits of the butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea) flower as antiobesity. This study is a literature review by searching preceding published articles in Pubmed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, and Google Scholar journals. The keywords used are (Clitoria ternatea) OR (Bunga Telang) OR (Butterfly pea) AND (Obesity) OR (Antiobesity). Articles are limited by publication period from 2012 to 2022 and then selected based on the criteria. The CYP450 enzyme metabolizes a small portion of paracetamol to a reactive substance, NAPQI. High dose of paracetamol causes an extensive increase in NAPQI levels. NAPQI then binds to hepatocytes conditions of oxidative stress. Spirulina platensis contains C-phycocyanin, flavonoids, and phenolics that inhibit lipid peroxidation and reduce oxidative stress. This study aims to determine the effect of Spirulina platensis on MDA levels in the liver tissue of male Wistar rats induced by high dose of paracetamol. This research was experimental with a Randomized Post-test Only Control Group design using 24 white male rats divided into three groups; negative control group (G-), positive control group (G+) was given paracetamol at a dose of 1,250 mg/kg on the 8th day, and treatment group (Gt) was given an amount of Spirulina platensis extract 360 mg/kg BW/day for ten days from 1st until 10th day and paracetamol at a single dose of 1,250 mg/kg BW on the 8th. At the 10th day of the treatment, all groups were terminated for liver tissue collection. TBA test was used to calculate MDA levels. Statistical tests analyzed the results of the data. This statistical tests by SPSS software: MDA levels in the treatment group did not significantly differ (p = 0.144) compared to the negative control group. There was a significant difference of liver tissue MDA levels in the treatment group (p = 0.016) compared to the positive control group. This study concludes that administering Spirulina platensis at a dose of 360 mg/kg/day for ten days can help prevent on increase in tissue MDA levels and maintain liver conditions close to their original state.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136280294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
