It is ranked as the second most common cause of death worldwide and leads to the highest number of disabilities globally. The incidence of this disease is 10-20 cases per 100,000 population, reaching 15% of all strokes worldwide yearly. The highest mortality rate was 20.3% after 48 hours and 18.3% less than 48 hours. This number is greater than the death rate in stroke infarction. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing mortality in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This type of research is observational analytic research. The design used is cross-sectional. This study was approved by the Health Ethics Committee of the Jemursari Islamic Hospital in Surabaya. The sampling technique uses total sampling. The total sample of this study was 65 patients. The sample in this study were all ICH stroke patients who were treated at RSI JS Surabaya from January 2019 to December 2021. Statistical analysis in this study used the chi-square correlation test. The results showed that the duration of hospitalization and bleeding volume had a significant correlation with the mortality in stroke patients (p-value<0.05) with OR (95% CI) are 0.243 (0.082-0.723) and 0.154 (0.048-0.500) respectively. Bleeding volume has a correlation with mortality in this study. However, this study has only fewer samples and it can’t be generalized.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136341621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to an increase in accommodation and convergence in the eyes when doing activities through digital screen devices at close range. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between screen time duration and visual acuity in children aged 9-12 years in the Kalongan and Sidokerto Malang areas during the Pandemic era. This research is a descriptive observational quantitative research with a cross-sectional research design. The research sample was 62 children with a saturated sampling method or a number of population members. The research was conducted in the community of school-age children in the Kalongan and Sidokerto Malang areas. The data used in this study were primary data giving questionnaires to children through parents and checking children's visual acuity. The analysis method used in this research is a univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Based on the results of the study, the majority of respondents play online games. Some respondents experienced decreased visual acuity. There is a correlation between the duration of playing online games and the visual acuity of the right and left eyes. Children who play online games for longer periods of time (more than 2 hours) are more likely to experience decreased visual acuity than children who play online games for less than 2 hours or do not play online games.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136342181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This disease is associated with reduced articular cartilage integrity. The most commonly affected joint is the knee, followed by the hand and the hip. Knee osteoarthritis is associated with aging, obesity, articular cartilage, fatigue, trauma, and congenital joint deformities. Excess body weight is a factor that will exacerbate osteoarthritis. There are still meta-analysis studies involving cohort and case-control studies on osteoarthritis and body mass index (BMI) available, but the relationship between the two variables is still not assessed quantitatively. In addition, research on knee osteoarthritis and BMI is still limited, particularly at Baptis Hospital, where it has never been done. As a result, this study was carried out to determine the relationship between BMI and the degree of knee osteoarthritis. This retrospective cross-sectional study involved 33 patients who suffered from knee osteoarthritis. Data were collected from medical records, and the Kellgren-Lawrence system to assess the degree of knee osteoarthritis based on radiology findings. A total of 7 patients (21.2%) suffered from osteoarthritis grade 1, 10 patients (30.3%) had degree 2, 15 patients (45.5%) had degree 3, and one patient had degree 4. The Spearman correlation test showed that there was no significant relationship (p>0.05). So, it can be concluded from this study that there was no correlation between BMI and the degree of knee osteoarthritis patients at Baptis Hospital, Batu City.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"122 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76253800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Autophagy and mitochondrial dynamics are affected by HFD. Turmeric and mangosteen have potential roles as antioxidants and regulators of mitochondrial function in the liver. The study aims to examine the effect of turmeric and mangosteen peel extract on autophagy and mitochondrial dynamics in the liver after HFD induction. Five groups of animals (n=5) as used: negative control, positive control (HFD), turmeric (HFD + 270 mg/kg BW turmeric extract), mangosteen (HFD + mangosteen 270 mg/kg BW peel extract), and fenofibrate (HFD + 15 mg/kg BW fenofibrate). HFD was given for 7 weeks, continued by another 7 weeks plus treatment. Liver sections were extracted to conduct semi-quantitative PCR. Autophagy (LC3, p62), mitophagy (Pink1, Parkin, Bnip3), mitochondrial fission (Drp1, Fis1), and mitochondrial fusion (Opa1, Mfn1, Mfn2) gene expression were measured. LC3 (p=0.048), p62 (p=0.043), Pink1 (p=0.012), Bnip3 (p=0.010), Mfn1 (p=0.015), and Mfn2 (p=0.035) gene expressions were differed significantly, while Parkin (p=0.098) Drp1 (p=0.962), Fis1 (p=0.570), and Opa1 (p=0.055) gene expressions did not differ between groups. Both turmeric and mangosteen peel extract have positive effects by activating autophagy, mitophagy, and mitochondrial fusion in rat liver induced by HFD.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81445050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
