GCA lesions can growth up to 10 cm and form like a cauliflower shape. This infection can affect patient’s quality of life. The goal of therapy in GCA is to remove all skin lesions, which can be done by surgical treatment. Many modalities have been tested in GCA cases, one of which is electrosurgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate effectiveness of electrosurgery for GCA. A 43-year-old woman came with complaints of warts appeared in the genital area since 3 months before. Examination showed multiple papules with a verrucous surface, size around 7 cm in the labia majora, labia minor and perineum. The acetowhite examination and histopathology lead to the diagnosis of condyloma acuminata. Electrosurgery (electrodesication) to remove GCA lesions divided into 2 times. Post-operative evaluation, patient did not complain of pain and erythema, edema, and pus. Electrosurgery is a therapeutic modality that can be chosen in cases of GCA. Electrosurgery, like other surgical modalities, is capable of removing the entire lesion, but the advantages of electrosurgery include not injuring large areas, minimal bleeding and a lower recurrence rate when compared to other therapeutic modalities.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86879005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pregnant women are a group that is prone to suffer from this disease due to their physiology and immune response changes. In the early stages of pregnancy, COVID-19 infection has the potential to affect organ growth and fetal development. Risk factors, such as late pregnancy, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular disease have been found to cause more severe manifestation and can increase the risk of premature birth to abortion.  There is also a risk for vertical transmission which further endanger the postnatal outcome. The purpose of this study is to figure out the depiction of distribution of risk factors and mode of delivery in pregnant and postpartum women to better understand the major health problem that commonly found and which mode physicians preferred for safe delivery. This study uses an analytical descriptive approach with cross-sectional design in a period of April 2020 to September 2021 in Regional General Hospital Sidoarjo.. 231 respondents were selected with total sampling of the population and are based on the positive result of antigen swab and/or RT-PCR COVID-19 test and risk factor categories which has been determined. The obtained data then statistically analyzed using The IBM SPSS Statistics and described in a table. The result of this study showed that the majority of respondents are not in the risk category yet certain conditions are commonly found and C-section is preferred for delivery.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90727286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Giant condyloma acuminata is a rare disease with an incidence of around 0.1%. The age distribution peaked in 25-29 years. The higher prevalence of infection is associated with number of sexual partners, history of chlamydia and gonorrhea infection, smoking and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. A 24 years old male presented with a cauliflower-like mass on the penis that has been growing slowly for 2 years. Physical examination of the penis revealed a pedunculated reddish verrucous mass, mobile, well-defined, 5x2x1.5 cm in size, and positive acetowhite test. The histopathological picture is in accordance with condyloma acuminata. Surgery with wide margin excision was performed to remove the lump. After 14 days post-surgery, the wound was healed completely without any sign of recurrence.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"82 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84234645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decreasing sleeping time could be a cause of increasing anxiety and/or physical discomfort as higher gestational age. This affected physical and emotional condition such as decreasing concentration, tiredness, and emotional imbalance. The Purpose of this study was to examine lavender and chamomile aromatherapy effectivity on sleep quality of the third semester pregnant women in Semper Barat I Primary Health Care. This study was a quasi-experimental study. Participants were 30 pregnant women which would be divided into two groups interventions, randomly. the participants asked to fill Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) questionnaire before and after intervention. Three drops of essential oil mixed with water was used to fill diffuser. It will be put in the bedroom for two weeks. Lavender and chamomile aromatherapy were effective to improve sleep quality in our participants. Average score of PQSI after intervention using lavender aromatherapy was dropped significantly (11,3 vs 5,73; p=0,0001) as well as chamomile aromatherapy (10,53 vs 6,53; p=0,0001). These facts could be used to help pregnant women to improve sleep quality. It is suggested to healthcare worker to use nonpharmacological therapy as well as this technique.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"56 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76852296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a neurotrophin that plays an important role in the natural repair and regeneration of nerves, but the previous study regarding NGF level after brain injury is still scant. This study aims to determine NGF levels in male Wistar rat models that received right Common Carotid Artery (CCA) occlusion.  This study used an experimental and control design conducted in July-August 2021 at the Stem Cell Research and Development Center, Universitas Airlangga. The right CCA occlusion was performed on the Wistar mouse model in the treatment group, then placed in a hypoxic chamber and reperfusion after 60 minutes. Observations of neurology scores were carried out in the first 24 hours.  After 2x24 hours the animal was sacrificed for serum NGF level measurement using the ELISA method. Statistical analysis using t-test for independent sample.  A total of 16 male rats participated in the study.  Eight rats in the treatment group were put into hemiparesis at different levels according to observations of neurological scores.  Statistically meaningful differences in NGF levels were found in the treatment group compared to controls (P<0.05). Average NGF levels in the treatment group were higher than in the controls.  NGF levels in mice with HIE were higher than the control group, which indicates the body's natural mechanism for neuron protection following ischemic hypoxic events.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74768522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scabies is caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis and its products. often found in densely populated environments, such as Islamic boarding schools and communities with poor personal hygiene quality or tend to be poor, and low economic status. For management, administration of drugs is generally topical to kill the mites that cause this disease. However, it has limitations, such as the relatively expensive price, so that alternative medicine materials with relatively cheaper costs are needed, namely medicines made from plants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate publications on the effectiveness of scabies treatment using natural ingredients. Methods: This study uses a literature study method in obtaining information or data from journals and research documents. The results of the literature study indicate that the use of traditional medicine is effective in the healing process of scabies. The use of traditional medicine is effective in curing scabies but as a complement to the use of topical drugs.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86914284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unrestrained use of pesticides leads to poisoning that has an impact on inflammation and anemia. To provide evidence for this notion, acetylcholinesterase enzyme levels, blood sedimentation rates, and blood hemoglobin levels of farmers exposed to pesticides have been studied. The study design was quantitative in a cross-sectional manner. The participants of the study were all members of the Kurnia Makmur farmer group in Landasan Ulin Utara District, Banjarbaru with a total sample of 60 people. An examination of acetylcholinesterase, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and hemoglobin enzyme levels was carried out at the Banjar Regency Health Lab. The blood sample was withdrawn from the cubital vein. Spectrophotometry was used to determine acetylcholinesterase enzyme levels, while ESR was determined by the automatic method. Hemoglobin levels are measured by the cyanmethemoglobin method. T-tests were used to compare acetylcholinesterase, ESR, and hemoglobin levels in the normal group and the poisoning group. The study concluded that exposure to a pesticide in farmers' pesticide poisoning may cause inflammation characterized by an increase in ERS. However, there was no decrease in hemoglobin levels.","PeriodicalId":33090,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Kedokteran Wijaya Kusuma","volume":"502 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78135669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
