The test bed includes an integrated microprocessor, mounting board and lens system designed to overcome the basic height to surface and speed limitations on the optical mouse chip with the manufacturer-supplied lens. The finalized system can be used in a mobile robotics course segment on sensing and state estimation.","PeriodicalId":330382,"journal":{"name":"2007 Thirty-Ninth Southeastern Symposium on System Theory","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133543988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Establishing which machines in a system are dynamically coupled has shown to be helpful in identifying coherent areas for aggregation, providing insights into system stability, and for showing potential stability limits. Synchronizing coefficients between machines is a well established measure for the level of influence that machines have on each other. The synchronizing coefficients reflect not only the strength of the connections between machines but also include the effects of system loading. This paper proposes a method to approximate dynamic coupling or coherency based on direct evaluation of the synchronizing coefficient magnitudes. It is shown that estimation of the dynamic coupling in this manner has the benefit of being computationally simple without requiring any additional information beyond the load flow data.","PeriodicalId":330382,"journal":{"name":"2007 Thirty-Ninth Southeastern Symposium on System Theory","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122257328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The BIST circuitry consists of a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) based test pattern generator (TPG) and multiplier/accumulator (MAC) based output response analyzer (ORA). In this paper we investigate and discuss the effects of phase delay on analog functionality measurements in mixed-signal systems when using MAC-based ORAs. We show that phase delay has a critical impact on measurement results and that the MAC-based ORA is an effective method for measuring phase delay.","PeriodicalId":330382,"journal":{"name":"2007 Thirty-Ninth Southeastern Symposium on System Theory","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130772716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system provides soil moisture measurements, and it also interfaces with an irrigation system to allow for automatic watering of the soil. We consider an outage-based quality of service (QoS) specification which requires that, for each transmitter/receiver pair, the outage probability is kept below a given level. We show that the problem of finding a minimal power allocation to achieve this QoS goal over log-normal fading wireless channels (with statistically independent fadings) can be relaxed as a posynomial program, which can be furthered solved by the very efficient interior-point method.","PeriodicalId":330382,"journal":{"name":"2007 Thirty-Ninth Southeastern Symposium on System Theory","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120943538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Secrecy constraints characterize information based on its sensitivity. Structural requirements concern information processing controls which are dependent on context of the workflow. A workflow is a representation of an information process and is comprised of a set of tasks and a set of dependencies between the tasks. Dependencies fall into two broad categories: those determined by the order of task execution and those determined by secrecy constraints. A task is regarded as a set of timed Petri net components which have the ability to specify and verify time constraints in a workflow. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the possible use of the timed Petri net as a dynamic security protection mechanism in a security information system. The conclusion suggests a possible direction for further research.","PeriodicalId":330382,"journal":{"name":"2007 Thirty-Ninth Southeastern Symposium on System Theory","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128538475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
