An existing Lyapunov based adaptive nonlinear vehicle controller is enhanced by replacing its adaptation law with composite adaptation common in robotics. A novel online trajectory scaling algorithm is developed to prevent actuator saturation and a Matlab based graphical simulator is designed to be a test bed on which control performance is evaluated.","PeriodicalId":330283,"journal":{"name":"Industrial Electronics, 2002. In particular, they are classified into direct and indirect coupling mechanisms, also following the standard rules for compliance testing. A direct coupling arises when the discharge occurs on the equipment enclosure or on cables, that penetrating the shield, lead the ESD current on PCB traces and components. On the other hand, a distant ESD produces an indirect coupling by its strong radiated field, which impinges on the equipment. Particularly dangerous are those discharges occurring inside the shielding enclosure: in this case the radiated field directly couples with the internal electronics, and is enhanced by the resonant behaviour of the enclosure itself. Each situation is treated. from a theoretical point of view, adopting the more efficient technique: circuital approach, frequency or time domain numerical methods, and hybrid techniques. All simulations are experimentally confirmed showing a satisfactory agreement.","PeriodicalId":330283,"journal":{"name":"Industrial Electronics, 2002. ISIE 2002. In this paper, we present a method. to evaluate the voice or speech quality by 1/f fluctuation theory. According to this evaluation method, a promising method to improve speech quality is presented. It is well known that the 1/f fluctuation is an irregular oscillation in the natural physical world and is of comfortable and agreeable sensation for humans. By 1/f fluctuation theory, an original idea to make a speech quality improvement system (SQIS) for improving speech generated from an automatic speech system is developed, therefore a high quality speech can be created by this SQIS. This system has been tested by some simple Japanese utterances. The results show that this method will be a powerful tool for automatic production of high quality speech and for research on automatic prosody generations.","PeriodicalId":330283,"journal":{"name":"Industrial Electronics, 2002. Established works provided fundamental knowledge and practice to reduce the size of needed reactive components, which at first appeared a prohibitive drawback. The paper analyses the DC-link current ripple generation of both DC/DC and 3φ-VSI converters. A new PWM strategy of the cascaded converters is reported to provide the minimum RMS current requirement and size of the DC-link capacitor. The proposed PWM strategy can result in even too low capacitance values, in respect of large voltage transient response and safety, so that further DC-link structure is defined to hold overall benefits. Based on a 30 kW prototype all proposals are experimentally tested and successfully validated.","PeriodicalId":330283,"journal":{"name":"Industrial Electronics, 2002. ISIE 2002. The proposed system is able to compensate one harmonic current flowing into the electric network without the need for measuring the non linear load current, or supply line current. Only the line voltage is measured. The developed control sets, by means of a genetic algorithm, the suitable values of amplitude and phase of the harmonic compensating current used as reference signal for a carrier modulated PWM voltage source inverter. It is shown that, by choosing a suitable voltage waveform, all four electrical parameters of the induction motor (rotor time constant, stator resistance, stator inductance, global leakage factor) can be retrieved at standstill with only one test and without producing any torque on the rotor and therefore without mechanical stress. Therefore this methodology reveals particularly suitable for the self-commissioning of the electrical drives with induction motor.
