By illustrating with historical facts, the essay reveals the lasting traits of British conservatism, which is evident in steadfast attachments to monarchy and deep-seated respect for legal traditions. Despite periods of upheaval, such as the Glorious Revolution, the British have showed a resilience in preserving established norms and structures, which reflect a pragmatic approach to social evolution. On a contrary, the essay also demonstrates radical impulses that have propelled transformative movements for political and social equality in British history, from the Peasants' Revolt to the suffragette campaigns. Through this dialectic, British national character emerges as a dynamic synthesis of tradition and transformation, conservatism and radicalism, where ruling elites navigate change with pragmatic conservatism while social masses champion radical progress.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141099404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For a long time, political science and sociology have examined how it operates from a top-down perspective. With the development of grand narrative and the rise of structuralism, the theory of power also needs to be further updated to conform to the trend of postmodernism. Through his research on the development of prisons and other institutions, Foucault realized that the operation law of power was not inseparable from political governance as explained by traditional philosophy, but integrated into the lives of all people in an atomic way. In the modern era, the art of domination incorporates this microphysics and develops it into a technology that, unlike the oppressive domination of antiquity, interferes with People's Daily lives in a way that is controlled by the body. The key to this technology is discipline, which operates in institutions that alienate time and space, and also separate man's utility from his capacity to develop, making him part of the social machine. Foucault's micro-power theory may seem very different from the theory of right and Marxism, but it is used in the context of a contractual society, and its purpose is economic, without disconnection. Through micro-power, we can have a clearer understanding of modern state governance under capitalism.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"14 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141100199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many theatrical masters have adapted his classic texts. However, some adaptations have a strong avant-garde and experimental color, and the creators consciousness is too strong. So it is easy to ignore the fundamental of the text, in other words, the modernity problem. This paper takes Russian director Yuri Butusovs adaptation of Chekhovs plays as an example to study how the contemporary drama stage interprets the spirit of modernity in the text. This paper applies the relevant theories, which are all reflected in the Butusov Theater, including Meyerholds cubist stage concept, the contextualizing cubism proposed by the British scholar Amy Skinner, and Bakhtins carnival theory. Butusov deeply explores the modern spirit of Chekhovs drama and presents it with his unique directing art, which is also an alternative expression of the classic text.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"85 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141101533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is about 3000 lines long in total. The epic tells the story of Gilgamesh's life as a man, a god, a hero, and a king. He has multiple identities, therefore, he is inevitably possessed of a heavy sense of responsibility and mission. This paper combines humanities texts analysis to analyse the topic. The research question is to explore the eternal spirit of Gilgamesh in his four identities. Through analysis, this paper demonstrates the power of a consistent spirit under different identities, both human and God, that is, freedom and courage. Such spirits represents the common will of mankind and God. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the fate of man is determined by the gods. Everyone will experience the same death fate. Nevertheless, the spirit of freedom and courage in Gilgamesh helps him many times to overcome the fear of death, to cross the distance of space and to fight against his fate. Freedom and courage help you protect your basic rights as human beings. Freedom and courage are the paths to truth without being constrained by anything, including fate.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"1 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141099924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
