The main idea of our scheme lies on the fact that drivers near the queried locations are interested in detail (zoomed-in) parking space information, while drivers in a distant place are interested in rough (zoomed-out) information about free parking spaces. Our zooming technique is based on discrete cosine transform. Besides, a winner-take-all scheme is also proposed to further reduce communication overhead in packet loss environment. As compared to previous work, simulation results show that our scheme reduces 40% to 50% communication overhead.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130801409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Final goal of this work is to investigate potential and feasibility of 60 GHz radios for very-high-data-rate short-range communications in medical applications. The measurement in a shielded room is meaningful for studying propagation characteristics in medical applications, since real surgery rooms are typically shielded. One particular usage scenario, i.e., real-time video streaming for ultrasonic imaging, was considered, where the antenna settings were adjusted to the usage scenario accordingly. Link budget and delay domain multipath characteristics were analyzed and modelled. Finally, model parameters that fit the measured power delay profiles were given.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129208461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the actual trends towards energy efficient systems and green networking, reducing the energy consumption has become a challenging issue in the context of fingerprinting systems. In this paper we present a clustering technique which aims to compress the radio database and hence to reduce the online processing load of the system. We propose a hierarchical clustering method which is applied in a concatenated location-radio signal space. %The clustering technique tries to provides high quality signal matching in radio signal space and low positioning error in geographical domain. Computer simulations have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed technique in environments with different shadowing configurations. The results show that the proposed clustering technique outperforms the conventional griding method, and besides allows us to reduce the size of the database significantly while keeping an acceptable level of performance for the positioning system.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126885688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Relay enhanced networks are expected to fulfill the demanding coverage and capacity requirements in a cost-efficient way. Yet, in order to fully exploit the benefits of relaying, the inter-cell interference which is increased due to the presence of relay nodes should be limited. Moreover, large differences in the received power levels from different users should be avoided. The goal is to keep the receiver dynamic range low in order to retain the orthogonality of the SC-FDMA system. In this paper, an evaluation of the relay based deployment within the LTE-Advanced uplink framework is carried out by applying the standardized LTE power control scheme both at eNBs and relay nodes. The power control is shown to be a crucial means to increase the cell edge and system capacity, to mitigate inter-cell interference and to adjust the receiver dynamic range.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123111494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key idea of the proposed method is to extend Dandawate's generalized likelihood ratio test to take into account the estimation of all cyclic cross-correlation as well as all cyclic autocorrelation obtainable in a multi-antenna system. The proposed method is able to take advantage of spatial diversity without any prior knowledge or estimation of channel information. Furthermore, we propose a simplified method to replace the full generalized likelihood ratio test in order to reduce the computational complexity. Simulation results show the reliability of our proposed detector and demonstrate the effectiveness of using the cyclic cross-correlations, which contribute to a performance gain of approximately 2dB when a four-antenna receiver is considered.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122250787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The forward-only processing of the SOVA has an inherent lower latency than forward-backward algorithms such as BCJR and its offsprings, which are commonly used in iterative decoders. Thus, SOVA-based architectures require less parallelization and therefore hardware for the same data throughput. A simplification is proposed to the Battail rule (BR) SOVA to approximate the concurrent path reliability values with the corresponding metric differences. This simplified BR-SOVA (SB-SOVA) performs close to max-log-MAP. Furthermore, a novel hybrid decoding architecture is proposed that combines the simplicity of the original Hagenauer rule and the performance-preserving properties of the SB-SOVA to trade implementation complexity for decoding performance. The hybrid approach is evaluated with practical link-level simulations of the downlink data channel in LTE Rel-8.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116092148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
