This makes a direct measurement of effective wind speed impossible. This paper analyzes the spectrum of the measurement of the anemometer and generator power of a wind turbine, and points out that the characteristics of these two signals are complementary in the frequency domain. An observer for effective wind speed has been proposed based on frequency-domain data fusion theory. The observer design is formulated as an mixed-sensitivity problem with LMIs. Simulations were carried out to assess the performance under a realistic wind speed profile. The simulation results show that the observer can not only guarantee the static accuracy, but also to improve the dynamic accuracy of the measurements of effective wind.","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127116037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In pulse-echo setup, the wedge echo is also present which corrupts the received signal further. In this paper, we use the two-dimensional stationary wavelet transform and analytic thresholding for removing the random noise and the wedge noise. In order to apply the analytic thresholding, we need to calculate 2D analytic signal. Since there is no regular generalization of the analytic signal to two dimensions, we address this problem for the case of the ultrasonic pulse echo setup. We utilize a simulated signal and an experimental signal to evaluate the performance of the proposed denoising method. The experimental results show that the proposed method is able to reveal the signature of a crack as small as 0.1mm.","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124877904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, it is necessary to derive a transducer system inverse filter in order to remove the residual effects of the measurement hardware from the AIRF. Second, through the use of a test signal, spectral analysis of the AIRF of the actual hall may be performed and compared with that of the experimentally derived AIRF. In this manner, the present work illustrates how power spectral density analysis may be used for the numerical quantification and verification of the measured AIRF of a music performance hall.","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122343593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead, they minimize the sum of difference between acquired low resolution (LR) images and observation model. On the contrary, adaptive kernel regression estimates each pixel of HR frames independently. It does not consider global optimum while estimating HR frames. In this paper, we proposed an idea of employing adaptive kernel regression on SR methods to improve the quality of super-resolved video frames. It is shown that the proposed idea can provide results with better visual quality and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR).","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122354539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm can significantly increase the compression ratio of video encoders while at the same time improve video quality. The FME algorithm, however, is also computationally expensive and can consist of over 45% of the total motion estimation process. To maximize the performance and efficiency of the FME implementations on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), one needs to effectively exploit the inherent parallelism in the algorithm. In this work, we define two scalability approaches in order to intelligently parallelize the computing hardware. We implemented five scaled FME designs on a Xilinx XC5VLX330T (Virtex-5) FPGA. We found that scaling vertically with an 4×4 subblock is more efficient than scaling horizontally across several subblocks. It is shown that the best vertically scaled design can achieve 128 fps when encoding full 1920×1088 progressive HDTV video with only 20.7K LUTS and 23.4K registers.","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128962098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At times, new extracted features might be linear combinations of some primitive features that are not able to provide better classification accuracy. To solve this problem, we propose the integration of genetic programming and the expectation maximization algorithm (GP-EM) to automatically synthesize feature functions based on primitive input features for breast cancer detection. With the Gaussian mixture model, the proposed algorithm is able to perform nonlinear transformations of primitive feature vectors and data modeling simultaneously. Compared to the performance of other algorithms, such us the support vector machine, multi-layer perceptrons, inductive machine learning and logistic regression, which all used the entire primitive feature set, the proposed algorithm achieves a higher recognition rate by using one single synthesized feature function.","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123731892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This impact can be enhanced via optimal DG placement and sizing. In this paper the location issue is investigated through an All Possible Combinations (APC) search approach of the distribution network. The DG rating, on the other hand, is formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem subject to highly nonlinear equality and inequality constraints. Sizing the DG optimally is performed using a conventional Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) method and a Fast SQP (FSQP) method. The FSQP is an improved version of the conventional SQP method that incorporates the Fast and Flexible Radial Power Flow (FFRPF) routine, which was developed by the authors in an earlier paper, to satisfy the power flow requirements. The results of this hybrid method are compared with those obtained using the conventional SQP technique, and the comparison results favor the proposed technique. This approach is designed to handle optimal single and multiple DG sizing. A 33-bus distribution network is used to investigate the performance of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":325063,"journal":{"name":"CCECE 2010","volume":"42 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131076107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
