A 406-strong sample of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders participated. The results showed no statistically significant differences in the T-test, whereas the results from the ANOVA and the Bonferroni post-hoc test showed statistically significant correlations, establishing that the attitudes of the fourth graders and partly third graders differ significantly from those of the second graders for most of the items. The discourse of primary school class teachers with ESP training might have triggered the formation of different attitudes among students in comparison to general training in philology. It is hypothesized that, interacting with their cognitive abilities, the spectrum of personality traits (in)directly determines differences in the level of academic achievement. On a sample of 473 students from Serbia, gifted in music, visual arts, sports and mathematics, several inventories were applied: Big Five Inventory, Pre-conscious Activity Scale, MOP 2002, Inventory of Moral Competencies, and Inventory of Emotional Competencies. The validation of the scales was conducted and the contribution of personality traits to the criterion variable was tested by standard multiple regression. Results showed that personality traits explained about 7% of the variance of the gifted students' performance, and that different personality variables predicted the academic performance in different domains of giftedness. Although the determining effect of the examined variables was demonstrated, all causal conclusions referring to personality traits as predictors of academic achievement should be taken with caution. Since context-based teaching approach has the potential to improve scientific literacy, in order to compare the effectiveness of the aforementioned teaching approaches in terms of developing elementary school pupils' chemical literacy in the field of organic chemistry, a pedagogical experiment with parallel groups was conducted. The experiment was organized within the elaboration of the teaching unit Alkanes and it encompassed 148 eighth-grade elementary school pupils (76 pupils in the experimental and 72 pupils in the control group). Through the elaboration of the content about alkanes, pupils develop chemical literacy in regard to the structure and nomenclature of these compounds, their physical and chemical properties and oil and its derivatives as energy sources, as well as environmental pollutants. The data were collected during an online conference dedicated to professional development which was attended by 157 teachers and professional associates. The data corpus for analysis consists of participants' posts on the Padlet platform, namely, 156 posts dealing with the shortcomings of practitioners' research in relation to other forms of professional development and 106 posts on how to support other colleagues to overcome the aforementioned shortcomings. The data were analyzed using the qualitative content analysis. In the participants' opinion, the reason for an insufficient representation of the research of practice is the low motivation for this type of professional development, and they also cite the obstacles present at the level of school, education system, and society. According to the participants, the ways to overcome these problems include raising awareness of the benefits of research practice, taking responsibility for developing their own practice, and developing themselves as researchers, as well as building a community of research practitioners. The findings are discussed from the perspective of the conceptions of practitioners' research, but also from the perspective of the contextual conditionality of this form of professional development. In order to understand the challenges faced by primary school teachers when organizing the educational process under changed conditions, a qualitative research was conducted in which 12 representatives of six primary schools from different regions of Serbia were interviewed using the semi-structured interview method. The obtained results point to the initial challenges of teachers in terms of using digital technologies and online tools and ensuring \"equal education\" for all students, dealing with negative changes in student behaviour patterns, a lack of space for the implementation of the school's preventive role in terms of risky student behaviour, as well as to teachers' needs for technical and professional support in organizing preventive work with students in current conditions. However, in Novi Pazar area, as is the case with some other parts of the country, teachers usually do not use this music material because, due to the lack of interest of music pedagogues, it has not been researched from the aspect of elementary music literacy and it cannot be found easily in the methodological and textbook literature. On the other hand, teachers during their studies, despite mastering several subjects in the field of music, are not sufficiently trained to select and adapt songs from ethno-musicological records to the needs of teaching music literacy and children's vocal abilities at this age. The aim of this research is to create basic music material that meets the methodological criteria for developing elementary music literacy in Novi Pazar region, bearing in mind the multiculturalism of the region and the fact that we should start with melodies that children are familiar with, namely, the folk songs of their cultural heritage. The method of theoretical analysis and descriptive method were used in the paper. The results of the research show that only 44 (4.34%) out of 1013 recorded songs of this region are applicable in teaching elementary music literacy. We adapted these songs to children's vocal abilities using transposition, elimination of melismatics, and modeling, in accordance with the methodological and biological framework of vocal maturity during vocal development, and for the needs of developing elementary music literacy. The research was conducted during the school year 2021/2022, on a sample of 229 in-service preschool teachers from Vojvodina. The subject of the research is the preschool teachers' self-evaluation of their own knowledge, skills, valye system, and motivation regarding the application of the holistic approach in teaching preschool children. The aim is to determine the current situation relative to using this approach, as well as individual actions (supporting, expanding, modeling, encouraging children's initiatives, consulting) incorporated in the new Foundations of the Preschool Education Program - Years of Ascent (Osnove programa predškolskog vaspitanja i obrazovanja - \"Godine uzleta\"), for early development and learning from the point of view of the preschool teachers. The obtained results indicate that preschool teachers generally agree that using the holistic approach during an early development of children contributes to children's welfare. When it comes to individual actions, the results show that preschool teachers use supporting the most and modeling the least in their everyday work. It is considered to be one of the fundamental learning outcomes, which makes it a topic of many discussions on the concept of quality in higher education. Consequently, many ways have been developed to encourage the development of critical thinking and problem-based learning is one of them. In this paper we start from terminological definitions of the concepts related to the problem-solving learning and critical thinking in order to shed more light on their correlation in the context of learning in higher education. The authors of the paper show the impact of the problem-solving learning on encouraging students' critical thinking by analyzing the results of theoretical and empirical research of the above-mentioned problem area. Although it has a long history, as a special teaching model, it started to develop several decades ago. In this research, we are interested in the roles of teachers in heuristic instruction, though we cannot neglect their roles in traditional teaching as well because it is dominant in schools. The aim of the research is to examine the attitudes and opinions of primary school teachers and students of pedagogical/teacher education faculties about the roles of teachers in heuristic lessons. The research is based on descriptive scientific research method. In addition, the method of theoretical analysis was used. The research showed the opinions of 336 teachers from the territory of Belgrade and 433 students of the third and fourth-year of teacher education/pedagogical faculties in Serbia, and a list of teacher roles was determined, which, according to the respondents, are key in the efficient organization of heuristic teaching and are based on independent and creative research work of students. Milanović, Marina Matejević","doi":"10.5937/inovacije2204085m","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5937/inovacije2204085m","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this research is to determine the attitudes of parents towards the reading culture of students in the lower grades of primary school. 180 parents from the Republic of Serbia participated in the research. A descriptive method and a theoretical analysis method were applied, while the instrument was created separately for this research. The obtained results show the positive attitudes of parents towards the reading culture of the children in the lower grades of primary school, although most parents believe that there are certain obstacles in the development of reading culture, such as: a low socio-economic status of parents (18.3%), a lack of interest and laziness of both parents and children (17.8%), parents overworked (14.4%), reading is not in trend (8.9%), and digitalization process (7.8%). Also, significant statistical differences were observed between the socio-demographic characteristics of parents and their attitudes towards reading culture. The results show that mothers, more often than fathers, believe that children should read every day. Parents with a higher level of education generally care more about their children's reading culture. Older parents generally believe that children should be influenced by a personal example, while younger parents more often believe that parents should be involved in school activities.
