Project teaching/learning is an approach that belongs to a new paradigm and involves students' research orientation in teaching and learning, during which already acquired knowledge is used, new ones are acquired and creativity, self-regulation and teamwork in students are developed. Such an approach should, in theory, enable the achievement of the outcomes and subject standards, as well as the development of subject and interdisciplinary competencies. In that sense, the aim of the paper is to, through the analysis of existing examples of several realized teaching projects, investigate and point out the potentials of project teaching for the development of interdisciplinary competencies and to offer an instrument for planning project teaching. Bogdanović","doi":"10.5937/inovacije2203075b","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5937/inovacije2203075b","url":null,"abstract":"The method of interpreting thermal phenomena in the lower grades of primary school, which avoids explaining these phenomena based on the particle structure of a substance, gives room for pupils' alternative ideas. The aim of this paper is to determine the level of pupils' understanding of thermal phenomena in the lower grades of primary school. For this purpose we developed a test of knowledge of the following concepts: aggregate states of a substance, substance structure, temperature, heat, and heat conduction. The research was carried out in primary schools in the towns of Sombor and Kikinda and the sample consisted of 475 pupils. According to the obtained results, the lowest achievement, between 0% and 20% of the maximum points, is observed much more among the pupils of the first and second grades of primary school than among the pupils of the higher grades. In all grades the majority of the pupils had between 20% and 40% of the maximum number of points. There were no pupils with the highest scores. There was no significant statistical difference in terms of achievement bewtween the first and second grade pupils, nor between the third and fourth grade pupils, whereas this difference is statistically significant in other, higher pairs of grades (the final two grades had the highest level of achievement). Research to date has shown that teachers' intention to use computers in their lessons has the greatest impact on their readiness or acceptance to use them. In this research we used the technology acceptance model to examine the predictors of intention, expanded with external variables taken from relevant theories and adapted for mathematics instruction. The following predictors of intention were examined: respondents' attitudes towards computers, their experience with computers in terms of the relative easiness or difficulty of use, their opinions regarding the usefulness of computers, technological-pedagogical familiarity with the content of mathematics, subjective norm and technological complexity. The analysis of modelling using structural equations, conducted on the sample of 228 in-service and pre-service teachers of mathematics, showed that the proposed model is appropriate and that the given variables are important predictors of teachers' intention to use computers at both traditional and innovative levels in mathematics instruction. On the other hand, the findings indicate that there are differences among in-service and pre-service teachers in terms of the importance of direct and indirect predictors. The technological-pedagogical knowledge of the mathematics content is the dominant predictor of the intention to use computers at all levels, with the exception of the in-service teachers' innovative use of computers. Their intention to use computers in an innovative way is primarily conditioned by their attitudes towards computers. The sample is represented by 604 teachers of elementary and secondary schools from all administrative regions in the Republic of Serbia. The research was performed using descriptive method and the survey method. The results of the research showed that: a) teachers mostly do not have a positive perception of the advantages of distance learning platforms compared to traditional, in-person teaching with regards to the application of teaching technology; b) traditional teaching is considered more efficient for the quality of work of students and teachers; c) teachers do not show the expected willingness for the occasional use of the hybrid model in the future; the independent variables did not influence the final results of the research. The paper will draw attention to the problems related to the formation and understanding of this concept, and present a methodological approach to learning based on the context modeling of real-life situations (modeling length, balance, etc.), with the aim of overcoming this misconception. In the empirical section of the paper, we examined the effects of the methodological framework of learning algebra on the understanding of the equals sign through an experiment with parallel groups, and on a sample of the fourth-grade students of primary school (N = 257). The goal is to examine how much language games are represented in the current Serbian language textbooks for the first grade of primary school, what types of language games are represented the most, whether language games are adequate for the age of the students, and whether they are organized through different forms of teaching. The paper starts with the views of literary theoreticians (R. Jaus, M. Bakhtin, M. Grossman, T. Popović) and modern methodologists of literature instruction (D. Rosandić, P. Ilić, Z. Mrkalj, Lj. Bajić) who point out that the reception of a literary text and its influence are the outcomes of teaching literature which is based on students' acceptance of the work and the effects it produces. Drawing upon the views of Mikhail Bakhtin, who emphasized the dialogical character of culture and literature, the paper points out the possibility of strengthening intercultural competence through literature instruction. The aim of this paper is to point out, on a concrete example, i.e. by researching the reception of Gogol's Government Inspector, the possibility of a more active participation of literature instruction in the concept of intercultural education and the application of the reception-aesthetic method in the teaching of literature as one of the effective models for strengthening student motivation. The total number of lessons assigned for the school subject Art in the curricula for grades one to four of elementary education in Serbia is taken into consideration in order to point to the status of this subject in the lower grades of elementary school. The pandemics caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 began in 2020 and it is still present in the world. It has redefined our way of living and made teachers look for new forms of organizing their lessons in line with the epidemiological measures. The aim of this paper is to investigate, in the context of Art instruction, how elementary school teachers have coped with the challenges created by the pandemic and determine whether this teaching area has changed its status relative to other teaching areas. The respondents to our questionnaire were 138 (N=138) elementary school teachers from different Serbian towns. The obtained results indicate that these teachers had to modify and adapt their teaching to a considerable extent. The applied model implied that the position and role of homework and schoolwork were switched and the multimedia resources were used to a great extent. The research was conducted using a quasi-experiment with parallel groups. The sample of teaching content comprised the segments of the teaching content for the school subject Science and Social Studies, while the sample of participants included 61 students of the third grade of elementary school (30 students respectively in control and experimental groups). In the experimental group, the selected content was taught using the flipped classroom model, whereas the frontal form of classroom interaction was used in the control group, with a minimal use of modern technology that was limited to Power Point presentations. Unlike the results of the initial test, which showed the uniformity of the groups in terms of the quality of the tested knowledge (reproduction, understanding, and practical application), on the final test of knowledge, the students of the experimental group demonstrated a significantly better achievement. They were more successful in solving tasks that required memorization of facts, critical reflection, solving problem situations, and practical application of knowledge in situations from everyday life. The aim of this paper was to determine the differences in the perception of the advantages and disadvantages of online teaching between primary school teachers and parents of primary school children. The sample consisted of a total of 1120 respondents, out of which 570 are teachers employed in primary schools (50.9%) and 550 (49.1%) are parents of children attending primary schools in Serbia. A questionnaire was created for the purposes of this research and it was applied in an online form. The results of this research show that the perception of the perceived advantages and disadvantages of online teaching and distance learning from the teachers' and parents' point of view differs significantly, and that teachers have a more intense experience, both in terms of advantages and disadvantages of this type of teaching process. According to both parents and teachers, the most significant disadvantage of online teaching is the lack of direct contact with pupils.
