In the base of regular formation there was a use of urban planning principles of Western Gothic of the XIII century. In the following centuries they have transformed according to the urban regions of different typology and have developed simultaneously with the Renaissance system of spatial forms. In this study, for the first time the analysis was performed and the principles of the creating of planning compositions of small urban settlements were found. Among the basic principles there is a paradoxical synthesis of the old Russian hierarchical structure of the fortified areas and the medieval GermanFrench and Italian design of the formation of street network. This will also help to keep the memories of old architecture from one generation to another. (Modernizing traditional architecture) currently cultures desire for new and innovative ways of doing everything has created many technological and lifestyle improvements, but as a result, many perfectly good and well suited technologies have also been abandoned to the detriment of some culture and the environment. For example, modern and industrial construction techniques are taking a huge toll on the world ecology by producing staggering amounts of CO2 emissions and toxic waste, and by consuming resources at unsustainable rates. How could it look like when looking back on the development of construction materials throughout human history and find ways of creating the structures that protect us and enrich lives without damaging the world? As it turns out, building trades have only become a destructive force in the last few hundred years. Before that time, most structures were built with methods that did little to no harm to the environment and worked within the natural capacities of the local ecology. Vernacular with continuities changes, transformations and adaptations to the different social and economic conditions of each period. Despite some views to the contrary, there continues to be a tendency to consider innovative building technology as the hallmark of modern architecture because tradition is commonly viewed as the antonym of modernity. This study investigates the transformation of traditional building to modern building and the concepts inherent in the vernacular of West Africa, particularly in Liberia. Both well-known architectural monuments designed by the leading masters of the country, and a wide layer of little-known objects are considered. It is concluded that although this period is usually associated with widespread avant-garde architecture, the influence of other stylistic movements (traditionalism, art deco) was also very great. A special place in the study is devoted to the problem of preserving the heritage. The study showed that only single objects are under state protection. Security status is not a guarantee of preservation of the monument. Moreover, the smaller the settlement is and the worse its economic condition is, the better the state of historical architectural objects will be. The goal of the study is to reveal features of the architecture of the churches of southern Urals in the 18th and 19th centuries. The key approach I chose for this study was historical architectural analysis and integration of data from archives and field surveys. A novel step-by-step analysis of the evolution of church design in the region since ancient times till nowadays is offered. The beginning of the process is presumed to date back to 18th c., as the active development of the South Urals by Russians began at this time. Descriptions and analyses of the region’s lesser-known specimen of religious architecture are introduced for the scientific use based on the author’s own in situ investigations. Lots of archival materials from Russia's central and regional repositories are considered and published for the first time. The presented study results can be used as a basis for further research in the field of religious architecture of the Southern Urals. Foundation and Development of the Regular Saint Petersburg Agglomeration in the 1703 to 1910s 1703年至1910年代圣彼得堡常规集聚区的建立与发展

The article briefly describes the stages of the historical formation of the agglomeration, starting from the 1700s to the beginning of the 20th century, in those centuries when it was still the Russian metropolitan agglomeration. During the research on this topic, an integrated town-planning, territorialfunctional, natural-landscape, socio-economic analysis was used, which combined the materials of a parallel study of historical cartography and archival materials. The main results were the conclusions that from the early 1700s, on the basis of the rural settlement system that had existed for centuries in these territories, the purposeful crystallization was carried out around Saint Petersburg with its principles of construction as the “ideal” capital city of the grandiose “regular type” urban agglomeration, which included three areas-belts: “external”, “middle”, and “nearby” (as areas of intensive agglomeration), in total geographically located from Yaroslavl (in the east) to Riga (in the west). By the 1910s, the nearby agglomeration belt (area of intensive agglomeration) united the structures of the encircling (around Saint Petersburg and the largest settlements and complexes), linear (along radial and ring highways) and nodal (around particular large settlements) structure. By this time, the formation of four subagglomerations in the spatial structure of this agglomeration was already underway: Kronstadt, Petergof, Tsarskoye Selo, Sestroretsk. This variant of the territorial formation and the unique structuring of the metropolitan Saint Petersburg agglomeration, with the parallel development of subagglomerations, are nonstandard for the world history of urban planning. The materials of the article can be useful for historians of urban planning, as well as for modern townplanners and urbanists. The importance of the temple as a compositional center of the classical ensemble and as the basis of the polycentric urban framework of the Southern Russian town of the XIX century is reflected in the article. Anyhow, one continues to spend much of the time in the city, looking not only for dwelling, food and job, but also for cultural and spiritual fundamentals of his existence. To solve such a contradictory situation, it is suggested to ponder on a possibility to return the imagery basis in some leading characteristics of new architecture as the environment of the socium’s everyday life. The necessity of studying and fixing up the new imagery is justified by a growing relevance of architectural-artistic approaches connected with the increasing role of the playing, theatrical, designing, socially oriented and ecological aspects in the actual professional field and beyond its boundaries. Interaction with other actual kinds of creative activities is of special importance, since it defines formation of artistic unity of architecture, design and art.
