This study commenced by reviewing existing risk management models. Thereafter, a survey which involved software project managers in Iran was conducted to gather empirical data about the practice of risk assessment. Thirty Software Project managers participated and were interviewed. Structured questionnaires were used to capture information. Observation made from this study show that in Iran, risk assessment is poorly practiced and many projects do not yet practice systematic risk assessment. This is because 83% of software project managers implicitly assess risks and the same percentage (83%) use unstructured approaches, poor risk identification and analysis techniques. It additionally shows that risks are not documented and experiences not properly utilized. This has led to ever recurring problems. The conclusion drawn indicates that Iran’s software project managers need to start assessing risks using proper approaches. Review of existing models showed that these models are complex and may not help address existing shortcomings. This study proposes a risk assessment framework, which helps managers to simply start assessing, documenting major risks, estimating risks using an objective approach that is based on frequently occurring risks to project likelihood of a risk occurring and subjective approach where objective approach is not applicable. It also supports qualitative risk estimation technique using prearranged risk estimation matrices and is supported by a tool which collects and stores risk data for analysis and improvement purposes.","PeriodicalId":31704,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Management and Competitiveness","volume":"30 1","pages":"81-88"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76616872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Practical but essential task of leaders is to create new approaches and find new areas to explore. The hypothesis underlying this procedure is that the personality traits of leaders have a major impact on increasing their effectiveness and efficiency in the textile industry in Serbia. In the study, the results were given for the age structure, professional structure of the leaders, social origin of the leader, the leader position in society, the success of the work of managers, the importance of some roles of managers. Knowledge and skills are acquired and developed through theory and practical experience, while some specific skills are a starting feature that an individual has or does not have. A leader is a profession that requires a person to possess certain character traits to be successful, in order to successfully carry out the tasks.","PeriodicalId":31704,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Management and Competitiveness","volume":"16 1","pages":"121-128"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84871940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modern organizations that are actively and continually applying modern management methods and techniques have significantly better chances to strenghten their competitive ability on the global market and to take a stable market position with the perspective for further market growth. Therefore, it is necessary for domestic enterprises to implement those management techniques which emphasize long-lasting orientation towards competitiveness – relationship marketing, business quality standardization, as well as other management techniques based on knowledge. Implementation of modern management techniques is an essential precondition for a successful business performance of domestic enterprises. Misunderstanding of marketing is typical for transition economies. Domestic business organizations have to use foreign business experiences in the process of business internationalization, which means that they have to apply actively the concept of integrated marketing. This paper provides an overview of reserch results regarding the managers' attitudes of domestic companies about the need of improving the marketing practice. Also, the overview of the model for applying the marketing attributes which determine the competitiveness of domestic companies has been provided.","PeriodicalId":31704,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Management and Competitiveness","volume":"26 1","pages":"102-112"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81258347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main idea of this research is to determine the barriers and challenges that young entrepreneurs face in Serbia. The paper analyzes literature in this domain, and compares the status of youth entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship overall between Serbia, the EU and the US. Furthermore, a theoretical model is developed that includes the application of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies and lean startup approach. The results indicate that taxation regulation and the lack of financial support for new startups are the main barriers that the young face in Serbia. In addition, the lack of adequate entrepreneurial education creates difficulties, and demotivates potential entrepreneurs. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce or modify existing regulatory laws and introduce effective financial support for new enterprises.","PeriodicalId":31704,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Management and Competitiveness","volume":"33 1","pages":"89-101"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89796380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When an observation resu lt is stated, it is also required to determine the uncertainty associated with the observation. A measurement uncertainty analysis comprises of random and systematic components. Different from th e random fluctuations, systematic uncertainties are resourced from the specifications , environmental conditions, calibration and other heuristic critical factors. This study assesses the systematic and random effects which create some uncertainty on a Schmidt Hammer (SH) rebound hardness test. In particular, as the certain probability terms, the systematic uncertainty component is focused and its volume has been appraised from a control framework. The importance of elemental uncertainty and coverage term are discussed from a statistical control perspectiv e. In the same ground, the effective number of degrees of freedom is also evaluated. In this way, the importance of the fixed error sources has been appraised based on statistical control perspective. The use of an uncertainty term as a measurement parameter in testing-based decision making can prov ide some reliable and realistic information for engineering risk management and quality control.","PeriodicalId":31704,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Management and Competitiveness","volume":"34 1","pages":"47-53"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88026908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different job needs different ability and the requirement of criteria which can measure ability is different. It needs a suitable and flexible method to evaluate the performance of each candidate according to different requirements of different jobs in relation to each criterion. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of Multi Criteria decision making methods derived from paired comparisons. Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) is most frequently used multi attribute decision technique. The method is based on the weighted average. It successfully models the ambiguity and imprecision associated with the pair wise comparison process and reduces the personal biasness. This study tries to analyze the Analytic Hierarchy Process in order to make the recruitment process more reasonable, based on the fuzzy multiple criteria decision making model to achieve the goal of personnel selection. Finally, an example is implemented to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":31704,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Management and Competitiveness","volume":"35 1","pages":"3-10"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86980111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
