Partiendo del caso emblemático de San Basilio de Palenque (Colombia), doy cuenta de las economías culturales comunales (y de las materialidades efectivamente vividas) para contrastarlas con las propuestas estatalizadas de «economía naranja» que caracterizaron al anterior ciclo de gobierno «neoliberal». Resalto algunas de las vías mediante las cuales las lógicas del mercado aplicadas a la cultura han hecho su ingreso en San Basilio de la mano de múltiples agentes, generando procesos de subjetivación que anteceden (y a la vez se superponen) con la patrimonialización y los procesos de reconocimiento. Superando perspectivas «en contra o a favor» (del patrimonio y/o del multiculturalismo), concluyo señalando las disímiles tecnologías de la diferencia que operan como sustrato de estas dinámicas.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135009907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We systematize the different usages of these terms – both intra- and cross-linguistically – and propose a reading of the semantics of the proximal deictic element for 'linguistic spatial location', which – as our analysis shows – ranges from the pure spatial locational function, via a temporal – more generally metaphorical segment - all the way to a series of discourse functions. We observe that the universality of usage patterns that is found at the spatial, and even spatio-temporal level, can still be found – albeit to a lesser degree – at the discourse level. What seems to be maintained at all levels is the primacy of the proximal segment in terms of referential prominence. We thus conclude that what physical proximity is in the spatial sense, can largely be understood as pragmatic proximity in the linguistic sense.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"74 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82527141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Polazeći od Kachruovog modela triju koncentričnih krugova, podrobno opisanog u relevantnoj sociolingvističkoj literaturi, ukratko se analizira rasprostranjenost engleskog jezika, način njegova učenja i usvajanja, te područja djelovanja u kojima se upotrebljava radi povezivanja jezika i kultura. Zahvaljujući velikoj zemljopisnoj rasprostranjenosti engleski jezik obilježen je brojnim varijetetima, od kojih su britanski i američki najpoznatiji, zbog čega se nerijetko postavlja pitanje njegove (ne)jedinstvene jezične strukture. Jedan od načina da se učini što funkcionalnijim najširem krugu korisnika, posebice u međunarodnom poslovnom okruženju, doveo je do pojave Globish-a, dok ljubitelji pasa na Internetu imaju čak svoj jezik proizišao iz osnova engleskog jezika. U zaključku se navodi da XXI. stoljeće vjerojatno pripada engleskom jeziku, što ne bi trebalo uzrokovati ozbiljniji jezični (neo) imperijalizam.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91105390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Forster's novel A Passage to India. Unlike its first two parts – 'Mosque' and 'Caves' – it is still, more often than not, perceived as somewhat lacking, a failure in general literary terms and, more specifically, even superfluous in terms of the novel's composition. To read the novel in this way is to misunderstand it, to favour the external, the event, over the internal, the innermost experience. This paper thus contributes to redirecting the reading of the novel from the political, sociological, postcolonial – as is usually the case – towards the contemplative, even mystical. It is argued that only such an approach does justice to the full scope of the novel, which is a symphonic movement from a world of fragmented visions and agonizing multiplicity towards a vision of ultimate unity. Due to spatial limitations, only the Hindu framework of the 'Temple' is here taken into consideration, with the festival of Gokul Ashtami as its focal point.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78334530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As this paper shows with examples from The Broken Spoke (1976), The Object- Lesson (1958), and The Water Flowers (1976), Gorey employs manipulations of temporal boundaries within the framework of nonsense, such as simultaneity, digression, and repetition, which suggest timelessness and infinity. These are devices that necessarily draw the reader’s attention to the form, structure, and pattern of Gorey’s works, and the same is true of his intertextual quotation and nonsensical rearrangement of time-related motifs from other texts, as in the case of his parodic transplantation of Charles Dickens’ device of time-traveling ghosts (The Haunted Tea-Cosy, 1997). Nevertheless, despite a self-referential flaunting of form, Gorey’s works frequently accomplish a seriocomic confusion of tone that complicates any simplified reading of his tales as exclusively humorous. This effect, which has elicited descriptions of Gorey’s work as “radiat[ing] a melancholy and an existential unease” (Kindley 2018), is to some extent accomplished by his relatively frequent depiction of ghosts and apparitions, which inherently point toward the question of time, indicating both the past and the future. The paper concludes by exploring what implications such a bidirectional movement can have on the reader’s experience when encountering Gorey’s mysterious spectres.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77833798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper the endeavour is to investigate one such instance: the relationship between Shelley’s ‘To a Skylark’ (1820) and Thomas Hardy’s ‘Shelley’s Skylark’ (1901). The conjecture here is that Hardy’s poem is not one in which the mere influence of an earlier poem is predominant, but evinces an intentional irony. Furthermore, irony is manifested in Hardy’s poem not only in statement but also in form. After an introduction on the reception of Shelley’s poetry both in criticism and among poets, a close reading of both poems, and how they interact, follows.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86894012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A través de la lectura de una colección de narrativas donde el oro aparece como una mercancía incrustada en la vida, los caminos y los destinos de quienes transitan la selva, los ríos y las ciudades chocoanas, se reflexiona sobre las representaciones en la tradición oral, la literatura, el periodismo y el cine de la exuberancia y perturbación que este metal ha causado y sigue causando en esta región. El texto argumenta que la transmisión de historias sobre el oro en un lugar donde las personas han estado condenadas a cumplir con las demandas de una economía extractiva contribuye a una larga historia de construcción de esta región como un «espacio virtual» en el imaginario nacional.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75910741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Se abordan los campos epistemológicos, metodológicos, políticos y experienciales como nodos interconectados que integran el quehacer etnográfico. Se discute un interrogante que ha guiado a los antropólogos en las últimas décadas ¿Qué papel ocupa un etnógrafo en la realidad social a la cual se aproxima? Así, se busca develar la importancia de la producción de conocimientos compartidos entre quienes son llamados «interlocutores» y los investigadores. Además, se plantea que, es posible una investigación que pase por repensar los paradigmas que han guiado la producción del conocimiento académico occidental, abriendo la posibilidad de validar los conocimientos locales a través de un ejercicio intelectual.","PeriodicalId":31431,"journal":{"name":"Tabula Rasa Revista de Humanidades","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87103779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
