The study adopted the descriptive design of the survey method. Two hundred in-school adolescents were drawn using simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. A questionnaire tagged “Grief Reactions and Coping Strategies Questionnaire (GRCSQ) was used for the research. The instrument possessed a reliability coefficient of 0.82 which was established through the test retest method. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were generated and tested using the measure of central tendency and ttest statistical tool respectively. The result revealed that in-school adolescents faced with parental loss experienced series of grief reactions such as anxiety, nervousness, fear, nightmare and shock. These in-school adolescents faced with parental loss have low coping abilities. İt was further revealed that there is no significant difference in the grief reactions to parental loss and coping strategies among in-school adolescents based on gender. The researchers recommended that counsellors should constantly organize grief counselling for in-school adolescents who have lost their parents; grief therapy programme which could help to manage various levels of grief reaction among students should be coordinated by the counsellors and help-giving professionals.","PeriodicalId":314053,"journal":{"name":"Anatolian Journal of Education","volume":"867 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123293279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The introduction of civic education to Nigerian senior secondary school was directed at cultivating and developing in learners the skills and attitudes to function as relevant citizens of their society. The writer noted that the teaching of civic education in Nigeria is yet to achieve the purpose of which the subject was introduced. Among the objectives of civic education is to highlight the responsibilities of the government to the people and vice-versa and to also cultivate in students of senior secondary school their duties and obligations to the society. Curriculum experts have certain roles to play in integrating standard into curriculum by developing a curriculum framework. Onus of implementing civic education curriculum lies in the efforts and determination of qualified teachers, these categories of teachers are those who has chosen and are convinced that teaching is their calling, and are ready to serve their country in that capacity. The type of teaching expected from these teachers should help the students emerge with an understanding of their country’s history and most cherished values. This is to say that learning experience must allow the students to practically demonstrate what civic education has taught them in any situation.","PeriodicalId":314053,"journal":{"name":"Anatolian Journal of Education","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131040272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is deficiency of research examining the predictive nature of those relationships. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of teachers’ perception and knowledge of differentiated instruction, and their sense of teacher efficacy on the implementation of DI strategies. The study employed a tool composed of validated items and constructs from previous studies to collect data from a sample of 101 elementary teachers in a single atoll * of Maldives. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. The results indicated that there was a significant correlation between teachers’ knowledge of differentiated instruction and its implementation, and also between teachers’ sense of efficacy and implementation of DI. Result of regression analysis showed that teachers’ knowledge had a significant impact on their implementation of differentiated instruction. Recommendations were made for future research to investigate the effect of certain demographic variables and mediators on differentiation.","PeriodicalId":314053,"journal":{"name":"Anatolian Journal of Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128735648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examined the causes of aggressive behavior among undergraduates’ athletes in Ilorin metropolis and also investigated the influence of moderating variables of age, gender and sport type on athletes’ aggressive behaviour. The research design adopted in this study was the descriptive survey. The population of the study comprised of all sport athletes in Ilorin metropolis. The respondents for the study were drawn using purposive sampling technique to select two hundred and fifty (250) athletes that participated in the study. Data was collected from the respondents with the use of the selfdesigned questionnaire tagged Causes of Aggressive Behaviour among Sport Athletes Questionnaire. That data obtained was analysed by using percentage, mean and ranking order analysis, Three-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result of the study showed that sport athletes engaged in aggressive act when their friends are injured, when they are rough-handled, when they are bullied, when they feel threatened by their opponents, when their team complains about them. Results also revealed that there was no significant difference in the cause of aggressive behaviors among sport athletes in Ilorin metropolis based on age and gender, but a significant difference was found based on type of sport. Based on the findings of the study it was recommended among others that all athletes in Nigeria should be exposed to proper counselling to help them adjust better to their aggressive tendencies and also be more aware of the consequences of such actions to their career. They should also be educated on the adverse effect of aggressive behaviour.","PeriodicalId":314053,"journal":{"name":"Anatolian Journal of Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127558824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quasi-experimental design was used to execute the study. Two public secondary schools were randomly selected for the study. One hundred and twenty five students were purposefully selected from the two randomly selected public secondary schools in the study area. The students selected from the two schools were assigned to two groups in which one group was assigned to experimental and the other to control. The students in the experimental group were taught using instructional aids for six weeks by the researchers. Data were collected through Economics Achievement Test (EAT) designed by the researchers. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The study showed a significant difference in achievement mean scores of students in the experimental and control groups; and a non-significant interaction effect of gender and treatment on achievement mean scores of the students. It was therefore recommended that; students should corroborate the efforts of teachers in the provision of local instructional aids to enhance learning and promote academic performance in schools; and that teachers should always try their best to make use of available instructional materials where necessary to make their lessons more interesting.","PeriodicalId":314053,"journal":{"name":"Anatolian Journal of Education","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124587191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
