This system accepts images of water bodies and estimates the area of coverage of garbage in the specific area where garbage is accumulated and spread if any. The IoT offers huge potential for development of various applications namely: e-governance, environmental monitoring, military applications, infrastructure management, industrial applications, energy management, healthcare monitoring, home automation and transport systems. In this paper, brief overview of existing frameworks for development of IoT applications, techniques to develop smart home applications using existing IoT frameworks and generic framework for the development of IoT based smart home system is presented. The proposed generic framework comprises various modules such as Auto-Configuration and Management, Communication Protocol, Auto-Monitoring and Control, and Objects Access Control. The architecture of the new generic framework and the functionality of various modules in the framework are also presented. The proposed generic framework is helpful for making every house as smart house to increase the comfort of inhabitants. Each of the components of generic framework is robust in nature in providing services at any time. The components of smart home system are designed to take care of various issues such as scalability, interoperability, device adaptability, security and privacy. The evolution of internet of things (IoT) helps the idea of smart city more achievable. A major branch of smart city is smart transportation. Problems such as traffic congestion, road safety, accident detection, automatic fare collection and limited car parking facilities can be resolved by IoT. In this paper, an IoT based smart parking system along with an intelligent signboard is proposed. The smart parking system composed of intelligent sensors deployed on site and are used to monitor and inform the availability of parking spaces. A mobile or internet application can be provided to check the availability of parking slot. The urban landscape is changing at a fast pace with the emphasis moving toward “smart cities”. Terrorists, for obvious reasons, prefer attacking cities compared to rural areas. Smart cities are expected to absorb larger populations of inhabitants in smaller area implying the damage inflicted by these attacks would be maximum unless some preventive mechanisms exist in the smart city ecosystem. There exist very few methodologies for attack forecasting due to lack of real-time data (confidentiality and reluctance of law enforement in sharing data). In this paper, we propose a way to predict future attacks, weapons used and likely targets using a class of powerful machine learning algorithms known as ensemble learning. The multicasting applications like streaming data/video is very challenging in wireless sensor network as they should be delivered quickly without any loss. In this paper a fault tolerant multicast routing mechanism for streaming data is proposed to achieve this goal. Sensor nodes are clustered based on location and cluster heads are responsible for delivering data to destinations. A backup cluster head is also provided in each cluster to improve the system resilience. Simulations were conducted in two scenarios one by selecting cluster heads considering node's energy and other by considering node's energy and mobility speed. This paper proposes a Client-Server service and device friendly approach for Home automation. A typical home automation workflow consists of 4 stages. Understanding the user environment by sensing, reporting the events to a centralized entity, centralized entity analyses and triggers the workflow, workflow will execute and update user by any interactive channels or even exercise over a home device (actuating). The physical condition of the device can also be altered based on the user request. The Home automation can be made efficient by including security factor by alerting user about an unknown person in the house. This IoT project implements a Client-Server based home automation with intruder alert to the user mobile phone.
