The nationwide delay in the start of school, and the ensuing large-scale, high-frequency as well as all-round online teaching, all posed challenges and opportunities for teachers. In this context, based on the current situation of teachers’ information technology application ability in the post-epidemic era, this study attempts to explore the impact of online teaching on teachers’ information technology application ability during the epidemic. At the same time, it looks for the factors of problem exploration, and proposes strategies to help teachers improve the ability of information technology application, aiming to provide some basis and reference for schools and teachers to meet the improvement of information technology application ability in the post-epidemic era.","PeriodicalId":31190,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research and Advances in Mathematics Education","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77273673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the ubiquity and advancement of technology, screencast feedback (SF) has emerged as a novel mode of feedback in the context of English as a foreign language (EFL) writing classrooms. Yet, there remains a paucity of evidence on the effects of SF on enhancing students’ English writing performance, particularly in Chinese secondary school settings. Thus, the current study aims to employ a mixed-method sequential explanatory design to investigate the impacts of SF on the writing performance of Chinese secondary school students and their perceptions toward SF. The sample consisted of 90 intermediate Grade 12 high school students from Southern China. While the experimental group received the SF, the control group received conventionally written feedback in their argumentative writings. Quantitative findings indicated that the posttest of the experimental group participants in terms of task achievement and coherence and cohesion in writing was higher than their pretest; however, there was no significant difference in enhancing lexical resources and grammatical range accuracy. Results also showed that the experimental group excelled over the control group regarding overall writing performance. Qualitative findings from semi-structured interviews in the experimental group revealed that most participants maintained positive perceptions of SF, as it strengthened student-teacher interaction, provided specific and longer feedback, and promoted students’ confidence.","PeriodicalId":31190,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research and Advances in Mathematics Education","volume":"2016 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86418860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study attempts to use a systematic literature review method to look through various peer review journal articles about the implementation of CLIL and its influence on learners’ English acquisition in higher education from three perspectives: general English proficiency, productive and receptive language skills outcomes, and students’ attitude. Findings show that English ability has developed after CLIL—based lessons while the difference between the CLIL group and non-CLIL group is not significant, and different linguistic skills unevenly developed. Meanwhile, students gain motivation and interest to learn English in CLIL, while some claim they feel challenged in learning English by the new teaching approach. Based on these findings, the study offers recommendations and teaching strategies implications for introducing CLIL in universities, especially in China’s tertiary educational settings.","PeriodicalId":31190,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research and Advances in Mathematics Education","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89488031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, society expects that children need to be prepared for future productivity. Heckman (2011) suggests that significant economic benefits can be gained from investing in early childhood development. Specifically, early education is an invaluable investment for governments and families. Based on this perspective, countries invest in early care and education (Kulic et al., 2019). Most countries have attempted to achieve multiple purposes in ECE (Cochran, 2011; Kulic et al., 2019). Some are child-focused purposes, such as preparation for compulsory education and the socialisation of migrant children. There are also parent-oriented purposes, such as emancipating women and encouraging them to enter the labour market and meeting the childcare needs of working parents (Bianchi & Milkie, 2010). This research attempts to use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Reggio approach as examples to critically discuss one of the purposes of ECE from an international pedagogical perspective. The purpose is to prepare for primary school. This is a controversial sexual purpose. This purpose will lead schools, parents, and teachers to place an over-emphasis on developing children’s academic skills and neglect other children’s needs. Therefore, the risk of schoolization of early education needs to be prevented.","PeriodicalId":31190,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research and Advances in Mathematics Education","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76833422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With intent to find out the factors influencing learners’ academic performance as well as identifying the strategies in place to cater for school security and also determine the effect of school security strategies on learners’ academic performance. Findings showed cases of early pregnancies or early marriages, failure to consider children’s rights and presence of learners with emotional problems. Conclusively, an unsafe school is more likely to result in students who have emotional problems, particularly direct victims of violence or bullying. Consider setting up a hotline to allow victims and witnesses to report occurrences in confidence. Some public schools are increasingly enforcing uniforms for all pupils, just like private institutions. Thus, the study recommends that schools work with the parents together with development partners and government to put up security systems in schools for learners’ safety.","PeriodicalId":31190,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research and Advances in Mathematics Education","volume":"117 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77104071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
