However, their effects on soil fertility are still uncertain. Therefore, this study was aimed to determine the effect of plastic mulch and pesticide application on the soil fertility of Andisol. The experiment was conducted in an intensive agriculture field in West Sumatra and the treatments included were: plastic mulch and pesticide application with two levels of each. Treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with three replications. The result shows that there were significantly high in pH, total N and exchangeable Mg when using plastic mulch while organic C was found to be low in a plot with the application of pesticide. Meanwhile, the interaction between plastic mulch without pesticide showed a significantly higher in exchangeable Mg. The result suggested that the plastic mulch practice can sustain the availability of nutrients in the soil while the usage of pesticides can reduce the organic C in the soil besides its main function to protect the crops.","PeriodicalId":311412,"journal":{"name":"Gontor AGROTECH Science Journal","volume":"116 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125752409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social Forestry (Social Forestry) is a system in the management of forest resources in state and private forests by involving communities around the forest as the main actors in forest management. This research is conducting to determine the impact of the Forestry Partnership Scheme Social Forestry Program on forest conservation and forest farmer income. The Social Forestry Program has a good impact on forest sustainability and the income of forest farmers. In 2017-2019 the high level of involvement of LMDH and farmers can support the success of crops with a value of 90-97% or tremendous growth, for overcoming forest and fire security disturbances. In 2019, the involvement of Farmers and LMDH was very high in 6 times a year, supporting the small number of forest security disturbances that only occurred four times with a loss of only Rp. 7,012,000, and can reduce the area of forest fires from 17 Ha to 4 Ha. In the income sector, through the PS program of the forestry partnership scheme, the average net income of farmers in a year is Rp. 324,950,000 or 62.5% of the total gain and Rp. 195.510.00 or 37.5% obtained from other sources of income (livestock, trading, and other jobs).","PeriodicalId":311412,"journal":{"name":"Gontor AGROTECH Science Journal","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116385555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The low palatability is a one of the obstacles in using sorghum bran as native chicken feed. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential use of sorghum bran as feed on the performance and meat quality of native chicken. 180 DOC native chickens were divided into 3 treatments and 6 replications using a completely randomized design for 60 days. The treatments used were different level of sorghum bran usage in the feed, namely; 0% (control), 10% (T1), 20% (T2). The data observed included feed consumption, growth, feed conversion ratio, carcass percentage and meat quality. Giving up to 20% sorghum bran in feed did not significantly affect the feed consumption, growth, feed conversion, carcass percentage, and meat quality of native chicken. Therefore, sorghum bran can be used as an energy source of feed up to 20% and has no negative effect on the performance and quality of local chicken meat","PeriodicalId":311412,"journal":{"name":"Gontor AGROTECH Science Journal","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134089606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
