In this paper, researcher examines the role of faith in building more resilient communities, and also how Islamic education at school can be used to help teach children to be better prepared for a disaster. The research suggests that Islamic education could be used to increase students hope after a disaster, to seek prayer as a source of strength and peace, to see the essential role of Muslim clergies in disaster recovery, and to see how some religious practices need to be understood in better ways. Qualitative narrative research was used as the method of inquiry with the primary source of data coming from interviews.  There are 27 child survivors being interviewed. All those interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed, then the transcripts were analysed to find any emerging themes.AbstrakBeberapa anak menggunakan mekanisme internal mereka, termasuk iman, dalam mengatasi dan bangkit kembali setelah bencana. Graduates are being equipped with professional knowledge and skills to fulfil the demands of the labour market in a knowledge economy. Malaysia is amongst those developing nations that have looked to advanced economies to provide a model of mass higher education which would raise educational levels and national income. Since the 1990s, therefore, the government has been expanding the higher education sector and broadening access to higher education institutions. Its goal is to boost higher education enrollments rate from 48 percent to 70 percent by the year 2025 (Ministry of Education Malaysia, 2015). The need to respond to this expansion of higher education enrolments has implications for all three levels of school education - primary, lower secondary and upper secondary. Using secondary data, this study aims to explore challenges currently facing public schools in order to produce graduates with good academic results that enable them to gain a place in higher institutions. The findings of this study have provided evidence that school education system is still facing great challenges. A key to making higher education more effective, therefore, is to strengthen and improve Malaysia’s public schools.AbstrakPendidikan tinggi memainkan peran penting di banyak negara berkembang. Para lulusan sedang dilengkapi dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan profesional untuk memenuhi tuntutan pasar tenaga kerja dalam pengetahuan ekonomi. Malaysia adalah salah satu negara berkembang yang telah mencari ekonomi maju untuk menyediakan model pendidikan tinggi massal yang akan meningkatkan tingkat pendidikan dan pendapatan nasional. Sejak 1990-an, oleh karena itu, pemerintah telah memperluas sektor pendidikan tinggi dan memperluas akses ke institusi pendidikan tinggi. Tujuannya adalah untuk meningkatkan tingkat pendaftaran pendidikan tinggi dari 48 persen menjadi 70 persen pada tahun 2025 (Departemen Pendidikan Malaysia, 2015). Kebutuhan untuk menanggapi perluasan pendaftaran pendidikan tinggi ini berimplikasi pada ketiga tingkat pendidikan sekolah-sekolah dasar, menengah bawah, dan menengah atas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi tantangan yang saat ini dihadapi sekolah umum untuk menghasilkan lulusan dengan hasil akademik yang baik yang memungkinkan mereka mendapatkan tempat di institusi yang lebih tinggi. Temuan penelitian ini telah memberikan bukti bahwa sistem pendidikan sekolah masih menghadapi tantangan besar. The Islamic values integrated into the learning process by providing the verses from the Quran for the concepts studied. The aim of this study is to analyse the ability of students used to live in an Islamic boarding school (pesantren) and those who haven’t yet live in an Islamic boarding school in identifying the verses of al-Quran related to some concept of physics. The research was conducted through observation in classrooms and  analysis of students’ assignment on identifying. The results showed that generally students have a decent ability in identifying Qur'anic verses related to the concept of physics. The students' ability appeared not to be influenced by the pesantren educational background. However, largely students are not able to interpret the verses of the Qur'an related to the physics concept in depth. AbstrakIntegrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam proses pembelajaran di UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung telah menjadi ciri khas kampus. Integrasi nilai-nilai Islam ke dalam proses pembelajaran dapat dilakukan dengan menghubungkan ayat-ayat al-Quran dengan konsep-konsep yang dipelajari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Fisika yang pernah tinggal di pesantren dan yang tidak pernah tinggal di pesantren dalam mengidentifikasi ayat-ayat al-Quran terkait dengan konsep fisika. Penelitian dilakukan melalui observasi di ruang kelas dan analisis tugas yang dikumpulkan dari mahasiswa ketika mengidentifikasi ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an yang berkaitan dengan konsep  fisika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan umumnya mahasiswa memiliki kemampuan yang layak dalam mengidentifikasi ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an yang berkaitan dengan konsep fisika.  Kemampuan mahasiswa tersebut tidak dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang pendidikan di pesantren. The figure of Kiai in Pesantren has the authority to determine the direction, the purpose of education, and curriculum/learning materials in Pesantren. Kiai has authority in determining the books of certain scholars. Some books are specifically used in Pesantren to provide guidance for students in implementing the learning process in Pesantren.Those books are selected by Kiai to provide guidance for students in implementing the learning process in this Pesantren. This writing seeks to discuss mutual and interrelated relations among kiai’s authorities, curriculum and norms of students in learning. This paper will discuss how Kiai with authority to select and specify the books on the provisions of the students in learning. However some researchers still think that arts are less in accordance with the teachings of Islam, and also some scientists still regard arts as an enemy in science education. Uniquely, arts at the level of Early Childhood Education (Day Care-Play Group-Kindergarten/Islamic Kindergarten) are dominant in learning. Unfortunately, the higher the levels of education, arts are reduced. The purpose of this research is to analyze the synergy of arts and science in early childhood learning at three Early Childhood Education institutions in Yogyakarta, which has a variety of Islamic styles. The approach of this research was qualitative descriptive. Data collection techniques were conducted by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique was done in descriptive, interpretative, and comparative with reference to neuroscience learning theory. The results showed that what makes art always controversial with the Islamic teachings is not in essence, but on other things that are often expressed unethically. Arts in Islamic education of early childhood are the religious arts that empathic and full-meaning, thus not only in accordance with Islamic teachings but becomes the basic needs of every people. The synergy of arts and science in early childhood learning can improve learning creativity.Abstrak Seni dalam Islam merupakan ekspresi tauhid dan profetik, yang dalam neurosains dinyatakan mampu mengaktivasi otak, mempengaruhi emosi, meningkatkan keterampilan sosial, motivasi, kesadaran budaya dan apresiasi estetika. Tetapi sebagian peneliti masih beranggapan bahwa kurang sesuai dengan ajaran Islam dan sebagian ilmuwan masih menganggap seni  sebagai musuh sain dalam pendidikan. Uniknya, seni pada jenjang Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD: TPA-KB-TK/RA/BA) sangat mendominasi dalam pembelajaran. Sayangnya, semakin tinggi jenjang pendidikan seni semakin menghilang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis sinergi seni dan sains dalam pembelajaran anak usia dini pada tiga lembaga PIAUD di Yogyakarta yang memiliki corak keisalaman beragam. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi. Teknik anailis data dilakukan secara deskriptif, interpretatif dan komparatif dengan mengacu teori pembelajaran neurosains. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa yang menjadikan seni selalu kontroversi dengan ajaran Islam bukan pada esensinya, melainkan pada hal-hal lain yang sering kali diekspresikan secara tidak etis. Wahat","doi":"10.15408/tjems.v5i1.9510","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15408/tjems.v5i1.9510","url":null,"abstract":"AbstractThis paper provides an overview of the motives underpinning Malay Muslim secondary school students’ moral behavior in Malaysia in their daily life. The paper is based on a qualitative case study employing purposive sampling into the motives behind Malay Muslim students’ moral behavior. The study of eight Form Four Malay Muslim students in a school in Malaysia identified six themes associated with the motives for moral behavior. The findings illustrate that Malay Muslim students have different motives for their moral behavior and that these are linked to moral reasoning. It offers an insight into what motivates Malay Muslim students who are in a family structure where religion is a strong influence of their moral behavior. It illustrates how family background, religious values and personal experiences shape the reasons for behaving morally. A key implication of the findings for Moral Education is in educating students to behave morally, teachers in particular Moral Education teachers should consider that the motivation for the action may differ based on certain aspects of the students background that influence their beliefs about what is right and good. Teachers should also identify the prevailing motives and their influences on students’ moral behavior by facilitating reflection on their behavior and the choice the right motives in the morality.AbstrakPenelitian ini menyajikan gambaran tentang motif yang mendasari perilaku moral siswa Melayu Muslim pada sekolah menengah di Malaysia dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus kualitatif dengan menggunakan tehnik purposive sampling untuk menginvestigasi motif di balik perilaku moral siswa Melayu Muslim. Delapan pola dari Empat siswa Muslim Melayu di sebuah sekolah di Malaysia teridentifikasi memiliki enam tema yang terkait dengan motif perilaku moral. Temuan mengilustrasi bahwa para siswa Melayu Muslim memiliki motif yang berbeda pada perilaku moral mereka dan bahwa ini terkait dengan penalaran moral. Data analysis was performed on the basis of the score collected by questionnaire, which was developed to measure the level of adolescent religiosity consisting of four dimensions: faith, intellectual, ritual and social. The study involved 97 Muslim teenagers taken cluster random sampling from an affordable population of students studying at SMA N and MA in Simo district Boyolali district. The results showed that subject scores varied and were above the theoretical averages, indicating that Muslim youth in Simo had a high degree of religiosity. The result of t-test analysis shows that there is a difference of religiosity level between adolescents studying in heterogeneous and homogenous institutions. The value of t-count is 2,668 bigger than t criterion (t-table = 2.010) at 5% significance level.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan dalam religiusitas remaja Muslim dalam hal perbedaan di lingkungan pendidikan dan jenis kelamin. Analisis data dilakukan berdasarkan skor yang dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, yang dikembangkan untuk mengukur tingkat religiusitas remaja yang terdiri dari empat dimensi: iman, intelektual, ritual dan sosial. Penelitian ini melibatkan 97 remaja Muslim yang diambil melalui tehnik sampel gugus (cluster random sampling) dari populasi siswa yang belajar di Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri dan Madrasah Aliyah di Kecamatan Simo, Kabupaten Boyolali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor subjek bervariasi dan berada di atas rata-rata teoritis, menunjukkan bahwa pemuda Muslim di Simo memiliki tingkat religiusitas yang tinggi. Risk management and control must be done quickly and accurately so that any losses potency can be minimized. Therefore, educational institutions in general requires a series of procedures and methodologies that can be used to identify, measure, control and evaluate the risks arising from the implementation of educational programs. The purpose of this study is to determine how the risk management in the implementation of educational programs in both Madania Primary School (MPS) and MI Pembangunan UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (MIP) improve their quality of education. This study uses a qualitative method with purposive and snowball sampling methods. The results of this study illustrate that dimension of risk occurs in the MPS and MIP is pure risk, that happens unintentionally that whwn happens can cause losses. Risks based on their emergence can be divided into internal and external risks. To anticipate these risks there are several stages of risk management undertaken in MPS and MIP, namely problems identification, risks measurement, risks control (risks avoidance, risks mitigation, risks transfer, and risks retention) and the evaluation of risks. AbstrakPada dasarnya, risiko merupakan hal yang tidak dapat dihindari akan tetapi risiko-risiko tersebut perlu dikelola dan dikendalikan dalam rangka upaya meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah-sekolah. manajemen risiko dan pengendalian harus dilakukan dengan cepat dan akurat sehingga potensi kerugian dapat diminimalisir. Oleh karena itu, lembaga pendidikan pada umumnya memerlukan serangkaian prosedur dan metodologi yang dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi, mengukur, mengendalikan dan mengevaluasi risiko yang timbul dari pelaksanaan program pendidikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana manajemen risiko pada pelaksanaan program pendidikan di  Madania Primary School (MPS) dan MI Pembangunan UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (MIP) dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan tehnik purposive dan snowball sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa dimensi risiko yang terjadi di MPS dan MIP adalah risiko murni, yang terjadi tidak sengaja yang ketika terjadi dapat menyebabkan kerugian. Risiko berdasarkan kemunculan mereka dapat dibagi menjadi risiko internal dan eksternal. The developed video is prepared based on the guided inquiry learning stage and completed with the Student Worksheet. This research used Research and Development (R&D) method, with ADDIE model. The developed video has been through feasibility test with the achievement percentage of 91.8% from material expert, 96.8% from media expert, and 85.9% from learning expert with excellent interpretation. The product trial results show the percentage of achievement of 81.7% from educator and 89.4% from learner. There is an increase of result was 54.4 to 79.8 with a normalized gain test of 0.56 Based on the result of feasibility test and experiment, it can be concluded that instructional video using guided inquiry method in circular motion subject is worth to be used as physics learning media in senior high school and improved students’ learning outcomes in medium category.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan video pembelajaran pada materi gerak melingkar sebagai media pembelajaran fisika untuk siswa SMA. Video yang dikembangkan disusun berdasarkan tahapan pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dan dilengkapi dengan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D), model ADDIE. Video yang dikembangkan telah melalui tahap uji kelayakan dengan persentase pencapaian 91.8% menurut ahli materi, 96.8% menurut ahli media, dan 85.9% menurut ahli pembelajaran dengan interpretasi sangat baik. Hasil uji coba produk menunjukkan persentase pencapaian 81.7% menurut pendidik dan 89.4% menurut peserta didik. Melalui uji coba kepada peserta didik, didapatkan kenaikan dari hasil pretest sebesar 54.4 menjadi 79.8 saat postest. Hence, Islam places great importance in education as was stated in the first verse revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In Malaysia, education is also a priority in the country’s development including Islamic education.  The Islamic Education System in Malaysia is constantly evolving and changing in order to meet the needs and demands of the society. Parents and societies who are increasingly interested and realised the importance of Islamic education have created various forms and types of Islamic education.  As an example, the emergence of Maahad Tahfiz, Ulul Albab programme, private Islamic Schools, Darul Quran and the J-QAF programme showed a very encouraging improvement.  Attention is also given to the children of young prisoners and married teenagers in order they are not left behind in the mainstream education. Hence, this paper will discuss the development, strengthening and transformation of the Islamic education system in Malaysia besides highlighting some research findings that support this discussion. Abstrak Pendidikan merupakan aspek penting dalam memenuhi misi dan agenda pembangunan manusia. Oleh karena itu, Islam menekankan pentingnya pendidikan seperti Firman dalam ayat pertama yang diwahyukan kepada Nabi Muhammad (SAW). Di Malaysia, pendidikan juga menjadi prioritas dalam pembangunan negara termasuk pendidikan Islam. Sistem Pendidikan Islam di Malaysia terus berkembang dan berubah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dan tuntutan masyarakat. Orang tua dan masyarakat yang semakin tertarik dan menyadari pentingnya pendidikan Islam telah menciptakan berbagai bentuk dan jenis pendidikan Islam. Sebagai contoh, munculnya Pesantren Tahfiz, Program Ulul Albab, Sekolah Islam swasta, Darul Quran dan program J-QAF menunjukkan peningkatan yang sangat menggembirakan. Perhatian juga diberikan kepada tahanan anak-anak dan remaja yang sudah menikah agar mereka tidak tertinggal dalam meraih pendidikan pada umumnya. Oleh karena itu, dalam artikel ini penulis akan membahas tiga topik utama; pengembangan, penguatan dan transformasi sistem pendidikan Islam di Malaysia.
