The author analyses the reasons for the popularity of the most often translated and read Polish authors on the Chinese publishing market, with particular interest in Czesław Miłosz, Olga Tokarczuk and Andrzej Sapkowski. She also presents the translators – both experienced and often recognised and awarded doyens of Polish studies in China, and those from the intermediate and youngest generations to whom the oldest ones passed the knowledge, skills, passion and the sense of common mission of building cross-cultural dialogue through literature.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66613096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A short presentation of the writer is followed by a discussion of his actual journeys in Italy based on the available autobiographical material. Next,there are reflections on Hertz’s interest in Italian literature and European texts about Italy (based on essays and editorial work). Treated as a separate issue is the view of Italian art through the prism of Polish artistic work (the spheres of associations, interference and references) in Hertz’s journalism. Other issues discussed in the article cover poems about Italy, their placeamong the writer’s works and the main threads and motifs. The article’s final notes focus on the observations on the value of Polish reception of Italian cultural legacy and its basic aspects that Hertz regularly emphasised at various stages of his creative life.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43371391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Przezrocza (Italian notes. Slides) from 1985. The first part is devoted to the evolution and the literary realizations of the Italian journey, starting from 1918, in order to offer an interpretation of the place occupied by Kuncewiczowa’s work in the panorama of contemporary Polish literature. In the second part, the author analyzes the genesis and genre of this literary text, recognizing its characteristics as a silva rerum, a traditional formal model of Polish literature which experienced renewed fortune in the second half of the twentieth century. The third part of the essay constitutes its thematic core: the author analyzes the image of Rome in all its many facets, relating it to the writer’s poetics and worldview.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46256214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since his years at the “Cicognini”, he feels bound to Ovid by a similarity “in lyrical ways” and by a relationship of “consanguinity” based on their common origins. The assiduity in Ovid’s readings, testified to by the large number of volumes of the Augustan poet in the library of the Vittoriale, is reflected in a dense network of echoes – some perspicuous, others subtle – that can be found in the Vate’s most famous works. During his twilight years, d’Annunzio’s nocturnal exploration finds singular affinities with the Ovidian elegies of exile to which he feels attracted the most. Even in the nascent silent film industry, d’Annunzio, creator and forerunner of fashions, sees a prodigious form of visual art that has in Ovid a millenary antecedent. Beyond the unavoidable differences separating the two temporally distant authors, the paper attempts to outline an overall profile of the correspondences and possible equations between d’Annunzio and Ovid without pretense of exhaustiveness. In the wake of perspectives inaugurated by distinguished masters, it is an attempt to offer cues for interpreting, from the vestiges of classicism, d’Annunzio’s art within the Ovidian framework.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46823271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article, I will briefly expose, firstly, the “Italian” tracks that can be found in the Polish composer’s music, and, secondly, the declarations on Italy in Szymanowski’s writings, in particular on his art and music, trying to relate these elements between them to see what image of Italian culture emerges. I will show how Szymanowski’s cultural environment remains German-based nevertheless looking for the lost unity between man, art and nature in the heritage of the Italian Renaissance.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47899002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also became the object of poetic elaboration by various Polish poets including Juliusz Słowacki, and the lesser-known, but still interesting, Seweryn Goszczyński and Bohdan Zaleski. They became part of the so-called “Ukrainian school” of Polish Romanticism. In Poland, however, the poets did not interpret in a univocal way neither the historical role of the Sich of the Zaporozhye nor that of the haidamaky who sometimes appear as defenders of the faith and fighters for the independence of Ukraine, while in others they simply come into view as rebels and brigands, cruel and ruthless, who received for theiractions the cruellest punishments. The author compares Haydamaky (Haidamaky, 1841) by Shevchenko and Zamek kaniowski (Kaniów Castle, 1828) byGoszczyński, because they describe the same story from 1768, the so-called Massacre of Humań, i.e. Koliyivshchyna, but with two different visions.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43855885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many thinkers, including Martin Heidegger, Emmanuel Lévinas, Karl Jaspers and Hans Jonas, expressed their views about it. The evil of totalitarian systems became the main experience triggering discussion about responsibility. The reflection included in Hannah Arendt’s works is an important voice in the debate and it remains up-to-date despite the passage of time. Arendt demonstrated the multidimensional and dramatic character of responsibility by presenting the meanings of vita contemplativa and vita activa in reference to every person’s existence. The thinker was searching for the answer to the question about the essence of responsibility. Today, she still introduces the readers of her works and the listeners of numerous interviews she gave to a more profound understanding of responsibility-related experiences. In my humble opinion, the greatest value of philosophical interpretation of Hannah Arendt’s works is the fact that they still remain constructive reflections. Their influence is not limited to shaping one’s mind only. It goes deeper and develops our attitudes, including the attitude to properly understood responsibility.","PeriodicalId":31050,"journal":{"name":"Poznanskie Studia Polonistyczne Seria Literacka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48289323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
