To do so, we set up a meta-evaluation of a mobile device in a quasi-realistic context. We collected two sets of data. The first type refers to data usually available in a classic usability laboratory, the second simulates data which could be collected in reality testing. We did two independent analyses and then, afterward, compared their findings. The meta- evaluation concludes that it is possible -with limitations- to evaluate the usability of a mobile device in reality testing without video recordings. However, the usability problems detected may remain unexplained without the help of the video recordings.","PeriodicalId":305315,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Mobile Ubiquitous Computing, Systems, Services and Technologies (UBICOMM'07)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132476976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is also not uncommon to find many types of media within a single web-page such as 3D animations, sound, video clips, online radio and TV services. Streaming is the technology which enables this, by viewing a media while downloading it. An important amount of research has been achieved to improve this bandwidth sensitive technology. Peer-To-Peer (P2P) network is at the moment one of the most effective solution to distribute streaming data within a large scale overlay, involving potentially thousands of nodes. This paper presents a survey on existing P2P media streaming systems. Our main goal is to study different P2P media streaming applications, state their results and present our analysis of each system.","PeriodicalId":305315,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Mobile Ubiquitous Computing, Systems, Services and Technologies (UBICOMM'07)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120908049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a project where 3D CVE is augmented with mobile devices in order to support a collaborative educational exploration of a famous historical site in Norway, where Battle of Stiklestad took place in 1030. This system can be used by both local and distant learning communities, working together towards a common goal. Mobile devices are equipped with networking capabilities and sensors that provide versatile context and user-community information. This information enhances the user experience as it can be used to compensate the limited means of input. We present a context-aware mobile Web 2.0 service architecture that connects user context and community information with the Web services. This convergence enables the development of device-independent services that are enriched and personalized with user context and community information. Mobile middleware may be needed for efficient delivery of this information from the mobile device to the Web services. Four novel communication models for the delivery are introduced, namely centralized control, centralized services, peer-to-peer services, and pure peer-to-peer. The purpose of the models is to offer a secure and reliable platform for creating new services. Finally, we study virtual communities and market structures of the proposed models from a multidisciplinary point of view. We claim that the selected technical model determines the prospective market structure.","PeriodicalId":305315,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Mobile Ubiquitous Computing, Systems, Services and Technologies (UBICOMM'07)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126910119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the migration cost towards the third generation (3G) network is so high. This paper presents a proposal to offer a next generation services platform based on session initiation protocol (SIP). This solution is easy to implement and its cost is relatively low. Our solution takes into account the IP multimedia subssytem (IMS) service architecture specification proposed by the third generation partnership project (3GPP) providing ubiquitous characteristics for mobile users. In this way, our proposal becomes as a tool to allow an easy transition from 2.5 to 3rd generation networks.","PeriodicalId":305315,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Mobile Ubiquitous Computing, Systems, Services and Technologies (UBICOMM'07)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134415553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed scheme, data is sensed as either normal or urgent according to its time exigency, then different data delivery mechanisms are used depending on what kind of data is sensed, thereby improving both the energy-efficiency and reliability of a wireless sensor network. First, normal data is delivered to the sink using a single-path-based data forwarding mechanism to improve the energy-efficiency, as this data is not as important or contingent on time. Meanwhile, urgent data is transmitted to the sink using a hop-count-based directional flooding mechanism to guarantee high reliability, as this data must reach the sink. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve a significant improvement in energy consumption, along with high reliability for urgent data delivery.","PeriodicalId":305315,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Mobile Ubiquitous Computing, Systems, Services and Technologies (UBICOMM'07)","volume":"2674 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123409453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to capture, model and represent the semantics of trust relationships forming the trust networks, main components of relationships are represented and described using ontologies. This paper investigates how effective design of trust ontologies can improve the structure of trust networks created and implemented within semantic web-driven social institutions and systems.
