The article gives an explanation of the text generation and interpretation according to the Rhetorical structure theory (RST), developed by W. Mann and S. Thompson. This theory is based on structural and functional approaches in linguistics, which present the relations between the form and the content of a language unit as the structure of dependencies. The dependency of one language unit on another in the newly formed unity is understood as a function performed by the language unit in speech or discourse. RST provides as a model for analyzing semantic relations between nucleus (main) and satellite (dependent) discursive units that form the coherence of the text. Results. Different approaches to defining discourse and its structural components are described. The nucleus-satellite model of the discourse structure proposed by W. Mann and S. Thompson is analyzed. The authors of RST emphasize that the coherence of the text is based on rhetorical relations that connect the units of discourse and contribute to the adequate coding and decoding of information. The nucleus-satellite organization of discursive units distributes the addressee`s focus of text perception. The principles of graphic representation of rhetorical relations are revealed, as well as the principles of classification of asymmetrical and symmetrical, mononucleus and multinucleus rhetorical relations. Conclusion. Nuclearity and hierarchy are recognized as the leading ways of discourse structural organization in RST. Hierarchy can be traced not only in the semantic and intentional allocation of the nucleus, but also in the structural organization of rhetorical relations among discursive units. Thus, a nucleus-satellite model of discourse serves as an effective functional principle to generate and interpret texts, which used to solve various communication tasks.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"125 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133719931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study of the “Foreign Language” subject at a technical university involves students’ learning the terminology in accordance with the chosen specialty. The teaching practice shows that students experience the difficulties associated with memorising terminological units and using them in the speech. Applying the method of teaching the terminology based on the internal form of these lexical units at foreign language classes makes it possible to optimise the process of learning special terms by students. Results. The research that has been carried out gives reason to argue that the analysis of the internal form of the English “Automobile roads” specialty terms created in the semantic way makes it possible to reveal the derivational and associative relations of the terminological units with the national language words which served as the basis for the secondary nomination. In most cases, these lexical units are the words that are well known by the students and indicate the parts of man’s body and the objects that are present in man’s immediate environment: clothing, dishes, tools, phenomena of the nature, representatives of the animal world, etc. Conclusion. Introducing the internal form of the studied English terms to the road construction specialty students, identifying the associative relations of the terminological units with the well known to the students and widely used words of the national language, fulfilling the specially developed training exercises in the classroom help the students to overcome the difficulties of learning the terminology and to facilitate its memorization.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124872242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the informal naming of young people, functioning in an informal setting in the 20s of the XXI century. Representation of secondary nominations is carried out according to several motivational features and makes it possible to determine the dominant groups of anthroponyms, emerging associations, word-building formants. Interest in nicknames, reflecting objective reality, allows you to get an idea of the modern language situation in the student environment. Results. In the course of the research work, a rich language material was collected, which is a certain youth name book. Unofficial nominations are reflected in 287 anthroponymic units, imprinted in 5 groups: surname, alias, formed from the surname and name, from the name and patronymic, from the patronymic. Numerous or few subgroups in their composition are clarified, associations generated by individual nicknames are recreated, formants that act as word-forming are established. The dominant groups of nicknames, female and male nominations, methods of formation are revealed. Conclusion. The conducted research suggests that the naming of young people in the 20s of the XXI century is a gallery of interesting anthroponymic units, the originality of which is revealed through their associative nature. A certain mosaic of emerging images testifies to the creative thinking and creative approach of the creators. It is shown that the represented nominations are formed by truncating the surname or first name, increasing the base by adding formants, rearranging the stress, changing the word (by association), using a nickname and using a language game. The problem of using foreign words is still relevant for the last decades due to a wide-spread “invasion” of Anglicisms and Americanisms. The article presents the analysis of foreign words that are widely used in modern press but not considered as a part of the Russian language system. Lexical items recoded into Russian from a foreign language are determined as a specific object of study. Results. More than 5000 examples of using the word «art» in modern Russian newspapers have been revealed during the research. A complex quantitative and qualitative analysis in regards to graphics, semantics, syntactics and stylistics has been provided. Some features of recoded words assimilation at graphic, morphologic, syntactiс and semantic levels are presented. Some peculiarities of graphic representation of foreign words depending on the language source are noticed. It has been found that recoded words receive some characteristics not given in their language source even before they enter a system of the recipient language. Conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that formal recoding of the significant is only an initial stage of foreign words assimilation. The recoded lexical items go through the process of language acquisition not only at graphic but also morphologic and syntactic levels as well as they undergo some semantic changes. Thus the words in focus represent potential reserves that can become parts of modern Russian language.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131695666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particular attention is paid to the problems associated with the difficulties of translation, in particular the translation of non-equivalent vocabulary. Various interpretations of the concept of reality are given. It is explained why it is necessary to distinguish between the concepts of \"realia\" and \"non-equivalent vocabulary\". With the help of the theory of renomination, the difficulties associated with the translation of realia from one language to another are analyzed and a comparative analysis of various translation options for realia taken from the Russian folk tale \"Koschey the Immortal\" of A. S. Afanasyev and its translations into Italian by Rosella Morini (2011) and Sophia de Figner (1903). Conclusion. It is concluded that the translation of folklore is always difficult, since its quality depends very much on how rich the translator's stock of thematic and folk-poetic vocabulary of both languages is. The analysis showed that the language in the translations is modern, neutral vocabulary prevails in it, in contrast to the Russian fairy tale, where there is a lot of stylistically colored colorful vocabulary.
