In our work, we consider constructions with the preposition li- and the preposition min, as one of the means of expressing possession in the Arabic language. Results. In the function of prepositions to express possessive relations, in addition to the mentioned prepositions, “improper prepositions” can be used, which are usually not used as independent names. Possessive relations in the Arabic language can be expressed by particles playing the role of prepositions (inda), and official words (siwa, gayra) are also used. A similar pattern is observed in Arabic dialects. In some (Moorish) old prepositions from literary Arabic are preserved. In others (Moroccan), this function is performed by service words (d, dyāl, mtāε). Conclusion. Thus, prepositions take an active part in the expression of possession in the Arabic language and its dialects. The functions of prepositions in the Arabic language are taken over by particles. With the help of particles and words playing the role of prepositions between the components of phrases, a possessive connection can be made. Syntactically and semantically, prepositions can be replaced by the genitive or idafa construct, but in some cases the prepositional group is preferable.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"278 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124465237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper focuses on evaluative characteristics of research advisors’ reviews functioning in the framework of academic discourse. Evaluative strategies and tactics have been revealed for the first time as a part of a research advisor’s review. Results. The research has shown that research advisors characterize positively various aspects of graduate students’ research papers and the way they organized their research work. Negative evaluations are not verbalized, but teachers implicitly mention that their students should organize their work more thoroughly in the future. The fact that academic discourse has been acquired by the student to the full extent serves as a positive characteristic of their work, and, therefore, includes all the evaluations relevant for doing a research and for research results. In all the structural elements of the reviews research advisors use a variety of evaluative means. The latter are represented to a lesser extent in the structural element concerning the Ability of a student to retrieve information and to use a variety of information resources. Conclusion. Research advisor’s review as a genre of academic discourse is an amalgam of evaluative means which enable the research advisor to explicitly verbalize his attitude towards a student research work. Evaluative means characterize those aspects of research work which are specified in the body of the review as structural elements. Moreover, teachers specifies work ethic, ethical behavior, personal characteristics that are crucial for the research work. The research has revealed evaluative strategies of intensification, recommendation, stating and implication.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130894691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Artemova","doi":"10.36622/mlmdr.2020.31.4.008","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.36622/mlmdr.2020.31.4.008","url":null,"abstract":"Statement of the problem. Markeme links found between prosaic texts of British writers who belong to the first half of the 20th century (Interval 20-1) make it possible to establish the degree of generality of those writers’ markeme lexicon. Markeme links exist between the texts of all writers, but depending on the power of those links, we distinguish preferred markeme links, or the links of the 1st order, and the links of 2nd, 3rd… 15th orders. The number of orders corresponds to the number of links each author can form with other authors whose texts are studied. The task of the present research is to find preferred markeme links between the authors of Interval 20-1 (to be exact – between the texts of these authors) and to provide their contensive study. Results. We analyzed and stratified linking markemes found in the texts of British authors of the first half of the 20th century. It is established that responsibility, which is the dominant markeme of the two ICs-0 (IC – intermediate centre), is the dominant markeme in CA-1 Conan Doyle-Christie (CA – centre of attraction). Its vice-dominant markeme is understanding. Responsibility (the dominant markeme of IC-0Wlf) is also the dominant markeme of CA-2 Woolf-Galsworthy. Its vice-dominant markeme is consciousness, which is the vice-dominant markeme of IC-0Wlf. Conclusion. In Interval 20-1 the authors form two centres of attraction: ‘detective and adventure’ (CA-1 Conan Doyle-Christie) and ‘social and psychological’ (CA-2 Woolf-Galsworthy). Besides, there are four intermediate centres of zero order (IC-0CDl, IC-0Chr, IC-0Wlf, IC-0Gls) and three intermediate centers of the first order (IC-1Haggard, IC-1 Maugham, IC-1 Orwell). Markeme power of each centre of attraction depends on the number of authors who form direct or indirect markeme links with its key figures and their markemes integral linking weight value. The study shows that CA-2 Woolf-Galsworthy unites 9 writers whereas CA-1 Conan Doyle-Christie unites only 7 writes, therefore its markeme power (15.87) is 1.3 times as high as CA-1 Conan Doyle-Christie markeme power (11.85). The stratification of linking markemes results in determining markemes, which constitute the markeme core and periphery in each centre of attraction and the markeme specificity of the the centres of attraction themselves. Fifteen markemes such as concentration, consciousness, consideration, determination,difficult(y/ies), disappointment, embarrassment, imagination, intelligence, opportunity, responsibility, satisfaction, self-preservation, significance, understanding, provide links between CA-1 and CA-2.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"170 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116097789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent reports from the OSCE, UNESCO, and the International Association of Universities have attempted to comprehend the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on higher education. A broader use of blended learning is seen in these documents as one of the potential ways for developing university teaching. Based on official recommendations, the authors of the article substantiate the need to create a course of the French language for occupational purposes for students of the MA program \"Language support for project development in the field of international cooperation\" in a blended learning format with extensive online component. Results. A survey was conducted among the MA students and teachers in order to carry out needs analyses and analyse the feedback about the experience of learning a foreign language online during the lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic in Russia. The results allowed to identify technical, methodological and personal risk factors that should be taken into account in the course design process. In addition, the review of scientific articles and recommendations of universities supported the process of selection of the principles underlying the course, as well as the approaches and technologies that determine the logic of its implementation. Conclusions. Blended learning as a transition between traditional face-to-face and distance online learning has great potential in the post-covid higher education. As the survey results has shown, students who have experience in learning a foreign language for occupational purposes in a blended learning format were more satisfied with the quality of online learning during the lockdown related to the spread of Covid-19. At the same time, technical and methodological factors have a decisive influence on the effectiveness of blended learning. They should be imperatively taken into account at the planning stage of the course design. This can be achieved by describing stages of delivery, clear instruction and a careful selection of online tools. This paper is devoted to the design of the educational Russian-Arabic phraseological dictionary within the framework of pragmatic and cultural orientation. The article analyzes existing phraseological dictionaries, which are used to determine the criteria for creating a training Russian-Arabic phraseological dictionary. It also describes the stages of its construction. The article examines the criteria for selecting phraseological units and aphorisms and composing a language minimum, in which phraseological units and aphorisms with a cultural component of semantics are of particular interest. Methods of semantization of these language units are analyzed, among which special attention is paid to cultural commentary. Results. The paper analyzes explanatory and bilingual phraseological dictionaries of different eras, and shows their advantages and disadvantages. The composition of phraseology is investigated, the stages of creating an educational Russian-Arabic phraseological dictionary are outlined, criteria for selection, classification, as well as the semantization of phraseological units and aphorisms are offered. Conclusion. The correct perception and use of phraseological units and aphorisms of the Russian language by foreign students requires an adapted bilingual phraseological dictionary. A phraseological dictionary creation assumes the decision of a question on the composition of the phraseology. We believe that the reproducibility of language units is a common denominator and therefore an important criterion for including aphorisms in phraseology on an equal basis with phraseological units, but still taking into account the peculiarities of each language unit. It seems to us that the pragmatic and culturological aspects of modern bilingual phraseography lies in the need to build a dictionary taking into account, firstly, the communicative significance of phraseological units and aphorisms, secondly, the pragmatic function of these units, i.e. their purposeful impact on the addressee, and thirdly, their cultural content and its sign relationship with the language. Therefore, when designing the macrostructure of a dictionary entry, it is necessary not only to give the pragmatic properties of phraseological units and aphorisms, i.e. features of denotative relationships, emotional evaluation, style, cultural saturation, but also to reveal under what conditions and for what purpose these units were produced.","PeriodicalId":303001,"journal":{"name":"Modern Linguistic and Methodical-and-Didactic Researches","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130177309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, based on articles from professional rubrics in English mass-media, colloquialisms are analyzed from the point of view of linguopragmatics within the lexico-semantic field, since colloquialisms are mainly kept up at the lexical level. The article considers linguistic and extralinguistic features of colloquial verbs designed to have an emotional impact on the reader in the context of the development of digital civilization and the formation of clip thinking. Results. The article reveals the content of the linguopragmatics concept as the main approach to the study. The concepts of digital civilization and colloquial expressions are also analyzed, and their interrelationship is revealed. The concept of a lexical-semantic field is considered, since colloquialisms are actualized mainly at the lexical level. The lexico-semantic field “to spend money” is analyzed, and the types of semantic connections between its elements are determined. Linguistic and extralinguistic means used for emotional impact on the recipient are revealed. The most common are metaphor at the lexical level and narrative sentences at the syntactic level, followed by phrasal verbs at the lexical level. Quotation marks and bold font with underlining are the least frequent on the graphic level, as well as irony on the semantic level. Conclusion. The use of colloquialisms is conditioned by the need to attract the attention of readers, most of whom are currently characterized by clip thinking. Within the framework of linguopragmatics, the impact on the recipient is achieved by means of various linguistic levels: quotation marks, bold font with underlining, metaphor, phrasal verbs, narrative sentences, irony.
