Existing researches have shown that new systems require novice users to spend an amount of time to get to know the technology. Near Field Communication (NFC) is an emerging technology, which offers an enhanced interaction for users by simplifying data transfers, secured payment transaction access and many more. In this paper, we looked into a number of widely used acceptance models such as the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), Theory Planned Behavior (TPB) and, the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to identify the theory that is best suited as an assessment tool of the user acceptance to the NFC technology. We have identified UTAUT as the best tool based on literature and utilized the theory to develop a questionnaire for the user acceptance survey. Our results indicates, factors such as social influence and facilitating condition affected the users' technology acceptance for NFC where most respondents are willing to use the technology if they had the chance to do so.","PeriodicalId":302732,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies (ISTMET)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128555958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All substation functions, information and process equipment interfaces can be virtually represented in IEC 61850 worlds. Disturbance and fault data can be retrieve from the DFR and IEDs that produce single file call COMTRADE file which is very important to engineers to analyze the disturbance and fault events. The different of the DFR and IED is the different sampling rate which the sampling rate of the DFR is more than the IEDs. Even though the sampling rate of DFR and IEDs are different, it is important to have both COMTRADE file in order to have an accurate and precise results. This paper presents the design of standalone digital fault recorder in IEC61850 that covers the physical design and the logical nodes design in system verification and simulation laboratory in TNB Research. The results of the research and developments of the design are to provide a platform to retrieve the COMTRADE file from DFR and IEDs by using the IEC61850 services.","PeriodicalId":302732,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies (ISTMET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127412834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In volunteer grid resources and workload submitted are unpredictable which makes resource management more challenging. In the paper, an attempt has been made to analyze trend and seasonality of volunteer grid workload using Holt-Winters' method. The forecast of workload that can be submitted to volunteer grid has been performed by varying seasonality and observed its impact on forecast values. The results indicated that the workload forecast can be improved by varying the smoothing parameters (α, β and γ) depending on the original dataset available and variant of Holt-Winters' method used.","PeriodicalId":302732,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies (ISTMET)","volume":"15 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114288801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, researchers have developed significant interest in applying GA in unmanned aerial vehicle path planning. However, experiments should be conducted to determine selection schemes and population sizes. This process is time consuming and inconvenient for users. Thus, a study is conducted on the performance of GA at various selection schemes and population sizes. Results show that large population sizes do not contribute in improving the performance of GA. Tournament selection shows the highest performance in terms of path cost, whereas the weakest performance is in terms of computational cost. Truncation selection shows the optimum performance among the selection schemes.","PeriodicalId":302732,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies (ISTMET)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128051321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The review analyses published studies of Malaysian UIC in various academic databases, focusing on the current development of UIC and the research gap. The factors of UIC are also reviewed and classified based on the technology-organisation-environment (TOE) framework. It is found that previous studies have been carried out in the contexts of both university and industry. From the lens of TOE, the most investigated factor is organisational perspective. However, there is a lack of empirical studies that covered UIC from multiple perspectives. Discussion and future research are provided based on the findings.","PeriodicalId":302732,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies (ISTMET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130206851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimated debt financing model revealed certain factors such as profitability, tangibility, business risk, growth, size, liquidity and share price performance significantly influence target debt financing. The study found that 52% of the SMEs examined adjust their financing rationally. Further investigation revealed that under-levered SMEs adjust relatively faster to be at target debt relative to the over-levered counterparts. SMEs that are practicing rational financing behaviour would either reduce or increase their debt intake to reach to their target debt level. This study contributes to the literature and fills the gap by enhancing the understanding of debt financing of SMEs in Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":302732,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies (ISTMET)","volume":"286 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123097171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
