However, electrode displacements caused by daily attachment/detachment are known as a drawback of the EMGbased interface, since it makes pattern classification unstable. In this study, we carefully investigated the relationship between the electrode displacements and degradation rate of pattern classification. As the result, we found a characteristic of the electrode displacements. According to the finding, we proposed a solution to the problem, which is based on the idea where a wearable device selects an appropriate classification model from the pre-trained classifiers when a user attaches the device. The availability of the proposed model selection method was also confirmed through experiments.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127461968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, manually recording these plates comes with problems. It is easy to make a mistake, or it can be lost. The Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) can classify the plates faster and it is a more accurate system. Therefore, this paper proposes a new license plate recognition system using ELM. The proposed system is composed of two parts: the first is a mobile application to take a picture of the car license plate, and the second is the recognition system using ELM. The recognition system entails two parts: the first is to preprocess and extract features using the histogram of oriented gradients (HOG). The second part is to classify each number and each of the Thai alphabet letters that appear on the car license plates. Also, the system will classify provinces of each plate. The results of the experiment show that the testing recognition rate when trained with 200 hidden nodes is 89.05% while the rate of correctly recognized plates is 252 out of 283 plates.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133362898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, we also notice that people tend to stick with one or two dressing style and buy new clothes that are very similar to the ones they already have. This usually results in a huge waste of time and money. Our team sees such the problems and proposes to develop the Smart Closet Application to help people efficiently manage their closet, easily keep track the clothes in the closet, and effectively utilize their closet inventories. Smart Closet Application allows you to store your closet directly in your smart phone. User can add his/her own clothes and accessories into the Smart Closet system. By using this application, user can mix and match his/her personal clothes, and accessories from head to toes. The unique feature of the Smart closet application is that it can keep statistics of clothes and accessories that are frequently used and suggest the dressing style based on what is learned from the past statistics. Furthermore, this application can give suggestion on appropriate dressing styles for current weather condition and special occasions.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"15 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120849453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It combines the education and entertainment applications with the goal to help users improve their language skills by learning from songs. Melody Touch is developed on a tablet running Android operating system. The game consists of three main parts: the purchasing system, the game module and the review mistake session which has the key characteristics of allowing users to revise a set of vocabularies from song lyric after they finished playing. During playing, a user has to select one of given words to fill in a blank displayed as part of song lyric shown while listening to music. Words having the same sound (homophones) or the same meaning (synonyms) is chosen to be displayed. Thus, the game would help users improve the listening skill as well as the vocabularies in the song. The game plays any existing songs without connecting to the Internet, and songs in the game could be free songs or purchased songs available in the store.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132232028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
