We have used techniques based on the Tesseract OCR Engine to extract the text content from medical document images such as a physical examination report. The following factors related to the document are considered: character font, text block size, and distance between the document and the camera on the phone. Based on experimental results, we found that among three character fonts (Angsana New, Calibri, and Tahoma), Calibri and Tahoma gave very high average accuracies (greater than 90%) for both character recognition and word recognition, but Angsana New gave quite a lower accuracy, about 75%. For the optimal distance between the document and the smartphone, the recommended distance is from 12 cm. to 15 cm. for a document block size of 21 × 3, 13 × 10, 12 × 8, or 10 × 13 cm2.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124851706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accessing and searching massive academic publications that are distributed over several locations need large amount of computing resources to increase the system performance. Therefore, many grid-based search techniques were proposed to provide flexible methods for searching the distributed extensive data. This paper proposes search technique that is capable of searching the extensive publications by utilizing grid computing technology. The search technique is implemented as interconnected grid services to offer a mechanism to access different data locations. The experimental result shows that the grid-based search technique has enhanced the performance of the search.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126034878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our method, we map all images into six 2D planes spanned by the axes defined by low-level features such as color, edge, image stability, centroid coordinates, maximum object size, and roundness. We form a cubic by combining these planes for image browsing. When a user selects one image, its neighbor database images on the same plane to which the selected image belong then are displayed for the user hierarchically. Experimental results on CIFAR-10 show that the effectiveness of our method is better than that of a simple display approach such as principal component analysis.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121584048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developing system is implemented by using image processing techniques. In the circumstance such as when suspicious events (i.e. left unattended or stolen objects) have been detected, the system will alert to people responsible for the role such as security guards or security staff. The detection process consists of four major components: 1) Video Acquisition 2) Video Processing 3) Event Detection and 4) Result Presentation. The experiment will be conducted in order to access the following qualities: 1) Usability: to verify that the system can detect the object and recognize the events, and 2) Correctness: to measure the accuracy of the system. Finally, the data sets are tested in the experimental result can measure and represent the correctness of system by percentage. The correctness of object classification is approximately 76%, and the correctness of event classification 83%.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114145245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The game focuses on amusement and challenges. Within the game, a player needs to prepare his elephant by solving mathematical problems such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication to increase the ability of the elephant within the given time period. After that, elephants from two players will join the elephant duel. The player who has more scores from the preparation process will gain advantages in the duel. Ranking system will help players to evaluate and improve themselves over time. In addition, the player can post his progress on Facebook. Scores will be kept in a database on a server to determine the rank and the level of each player, which are used to generate problems to suit their abilities. The difficulty will be increased along with the skills of the player, as well as the growth of the elephant.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116402209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach of CloudyDays application aims to alleviate those restrictions. The application applies the concept of RAID 0 to the cloud storage level for increasing its performance, storage capacity, and security. The application creates a single cloud storage combined out of multiple cloud storage accounts and also decreases the total time of file uploading and downloading to and from the cloud. Moreover, due to concerns in security on the cloud, CloudyDays enhances the security level of its cloud-stored files. The results from experiments using the application and Dropbox as a test area clearly show that the many cloud storages can be merged together. The file upload time is reduced using the application compared to a direct upload to Dropbox website. Some promising future works are also discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117253480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Resources which are people, time and places, are limited. However, we need to find solutions that fit to all of these constraints. The schedule management application is proposed to handle the scheduling process which is time-consuming by automatically assigning time slot and generating class schedules. The automatic scheduling applies network flow algorithm to match resources and assign them to classes. This application also enables the user to edit the generated schedule to better suit their specific needs. Some of the most significant benefits of this application are reduction of time spent and elimination of human errors, thus the schedules are expected to be published faster.","PeriodicalId":300460,"journal":{"name":"2014 Third ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116225885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
