Since that time, a large body of additional work has been produced. This paper reviews those developments from the perspective of oscillator design. Areas of direct interest for oscillator design include equivalent circuit models, oscillator circuit interactions, and vibration compensation techniques, along with a clear and concise summary of tile state-of-the-art in low acceleration sensitivity resonator design.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat. The resonators exhibit several high-Q resonant modes approximately 100 kHz apart, which repeat every 13 MHz. A loaded Q of approximately 20,000 was estimated from the phase response. The results show that the FM noise of the resonators varied between S/sub y/(10 Hz)=-202 dB relative (rel) to 1/Hz and -210 dB rel to 1/Hz. The equivalent phase modulation (PM) noise of an oscillator using these resonators (assuming a noiseless amplifier) would range from /spl Lscr/(10 Hz)=-39 to -47 dBc/Hz.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat. The receiver tracks the GPS (Global Positioning System) satellites and the GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) satellites. In this paper, we evaluate the receiver's performance using the common-clock, common-view calibration data. We also study the performance of multichannel GPS/GLONASS common-view between NIST and USNO. The common-clock, common-views using multichannel GLONASS C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) code and single-channel GLONASS P-code (precise code) contained very little transfer noise. A diurnal effect was noticed in the multi-channel GPS C/A code common-clock, common-view calibration. For the common-view comparison between NIST and USNO, the increased number of daily common-view tracks and the more precise measurements with GLONASS P-code reduced the transfer noise in short term. The multi-channel GPS/GLONASS common-view was influenced by some periodic systematic errors in long term.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat. S. Naval Observatory (USNO) Master Clock. We will present data from our cesium atomic fountain, including initial measurements of our device relative to an active hydrogen maser on both the clock transition and a magnetic field sensitive transition. As this maser is part of the USNO timing ensemble, we can easily relate the frequency and frequency stability of the fountain to any of our clocks or internal timescales. We will also present several possible continuous operation strategies for the incorporation of this new class of clock into the local clock ensemble.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat. Anelastic loss in langatate 语言的非弹性损失

Lauria","doi":"10.1109/FREQ.2000.887351","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/FREQ.2000.887351","url":null,"abstract":"Anelastic loss in langatate (La/sub 3/Ga/sub 5.5/Ta/sub 0.5/O/sub 14/) was measured as a function of temperature from 80 to 1080 K at ultrasonic frequencies from 0.5 to 1.8 MHz. The specimens were monocrystalline cylinders with the trigonal axis parallel to the cylinder axis. Q/sup -1/ and the resonant frequencies were measured with inductive electromagnetic-acoustic and contacting transduction techniques. On cooling from room temperature to 80 K, Q/sup -1/ decreased by approximately an order of magnitude, with the most rapid drop occurring in the 220-260 K range. Part of this temperature dependence may result from the phonon-phonon interaction. However, the frequency dependence of Q/sup -1/ at room temperature is inconsistent with theories for the phonon-phonon interaction, and Qf at room temperature is much lower than values at higher frequencies reported by other researchers. These results suggest that Q/sup -1/ measured at and below room temperature is dominated by an anelastic defect contribution, rather than the intrinsic phonon-phonon damping. Dislocation damping is considered the most likely candidate for this contribution. At elevated temperatures, a relaxation peak appears with a maximum in the 750-810 K range for frequencies between 0.5 and 1.8 MHz. The activation energy of the relaxation is 1.1 eV, which is typical of point-defect relaxations. A second peak appears near 860 K during the first heating and disappears after heating to 1080 K. The observed peaks rise above a background that increases rapidly at the highest temperatures. By analogy with a similar effect observed in quartz, this background is assumed to arise from the anelastic relaxation of diffusing interstitial impurities.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat. This is achieved by using a specific element which transforms the compressive force applied on it into a tensile force on the beams of a DETF. First, after a description of the sensor, the working principle of the proposed device is related. The choice of the used vibrational mode is justified in the description of the dynamic behavior of the DETF. Then, the way of applying the force is treated and the measurement principle is given. Second, in order to design the structure, a Finite Element Analysis has been performed and the predicted results are reported. Next, the designed prototype and the associated experimental set-up is described. Finally, the results of the experiments performed on the prototype are studied and a comparison with the Finite Element simulations is proposed.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat. To be successful in one you must also be successful in the other. One of the keys to success in this area is to make the best use of available technology. A prompt jump in capabilities can be executed by using a vendor supplied'software package. In as little as 60-90 days major improvements can be placed into effect to provide very high levels of customer satisfaction that translate'directly into bottom line sales. The old marketing proverb of \"know your customer\" is very much in effect. The three key success factors for real estate sales of \"location, location, location\" are also big factors in the oscillator industry. The new model for knowing your customer is to execute a high level of knowledge management within your organization. The location is now on the Internet. If you neglect this medium for knowledge gathering about your customers and knowledge transfer to your customers, you may miss a great opportunity for generating a major competitive advantage in the future.","PeriodicalId":294110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE/EIA International Frequency Control Symposium and Exhibition (Cat.
