We adopted some Hofstede's cultural dimensions (power distance, individualism, and long term orientation) as influence factors to Perceive Usefulness and Perceive Ease of Use in TAM. Research carried out by using 308 respondents, who are academics throughout Indonesia. The data obtained and analyzed using Structure Equation Modeling with PLS. Our results show, that Long Term Orientation had highest effect on Perceived Usefulness in TAM, and followed by Power Distance and Individualism on Perceived Ease of Use. These results can be taken as consideration when implementing MIS in higher learning institution in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":292290,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation & Technology (ICMIT)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114896420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the keyword-based approach's ease of use and simplicity, the approach is not sufficient for addressing the reuse of technological knowledge because it cannot represent how technological components interact with. In response, this paper adopts the concept of function which shows objectives and uses of technological components and relationships among them. The functions that constitute a technology can be extracted in the form of subject-action-object (SAO) structure from their relevant technological documents by exploiting natural language processing. This paper proposes a procedure to construct a network incorporating functional knowledge of patents. Then, methods to explore technological opportunities from the network are presented.","PeriodicalId":292290,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation & Technology (ICMIT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117043773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several studies on e-commerce adoption by SMEs in developing countries have been done. Unfortunately there are still a few studies for that in Indonesia, particularly in West Java province. In addition, only a few studies have been conducted to produce a model that can explain the success of SMEs in adopting e-commerce systems. This paper presents some preliminary study results with the aim to explore technological and organizational factors influencing e-commerce adoption by the SMEs. Three exploratory case studies in three manufacturing SMEs in West Java were conducted. The result of this study indicates several variables of technological and organizational factors that affect e-commerce adoption.","PeriodicalId":292290,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation & Technology (ICMIT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129879948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Selection criteria are aimed at increasing overall competitiveness [1] by using supplier involvement to promote ownership and improve decision-making through continuous product/process development [2]. The purpose of this research has been to identify selection criteria and to develop supplier selection and evaluation frameworks based on surveyed data. The survey focused on SMEs in the northern industrial region around Greece's 2nd largest city, Thessaloniki. The research showed that the most significant evaluation criteria for companies are their suppliers' ability to meet delivery schedules, followed by product quality, and finally product net price. The study findings were further compared to other existing frameworks.","PeriodicalId":292290,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation & Technology (ICMIT)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128573277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three different types of projects are evaluated: Mass Cell Culture Project, Super Computer Project and Super Heat-Pump Project. Based on the logical framework of evaluation, four aspects are examined qualitatively. They are technological impacts, R&D capacity building, economic impacts and impacts on people's life and society. Then, a quantitative analysis is conducted for economic impacts, including the calculation of induced production which is unique in this kind of analyses. We find that the impacts of the three projects are wide and that their economic impacts are large compared to government investment in a long run when taking into account of indirect impacts.","PeriodicalId":292290,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation & Technology (ICMIT)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116512731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This leads some of the organisations to employ various tactics and mechanisms in attempts to fulfill their aims and objectives, overtime. The challenges of sustainability and competitive advantage could also be attributed to organisations' reliance on technology which has increased significantly in recent years. The increasing competitiveness amongst the organisations drives technology innovations. As technology evolves, more organisations are challenged, hence the quest to explore the concept of open innovation. The paper focuses on the concept of open innovation from both academic and professional (corporate) perspectives. Through interpretivism philosophical assumption we sought an understanding of the impact and implications of the openness in the concept of open innovation.","PeriodicalId":292290,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation & Technology (ICMIT)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130190742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
