These control methods are widely accepted due to availability of a well defined classical control theory, easy design methodologies and many other merits. These controllers perform efficiently at the operating point, how-ever, compromise in performance at transients and are likely to be less robust in comparison with their non linear counterparts. Integral sliding mode control (ISMC) technique leverages the advantages of linear control methods by amalgamating them with nonlinear sliding mode control (SMC). To enhance the potency of robustness, ISMC is designed with two controlling components. One is a linear nominal control such as PID, state feedback, Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) etc and the other one is a discontinuous SMC. The paper presents a technique to mitigate parametric asymmetry caused in impedance source (Z-source) converters. The proposed controller is a merger of Dual-loop PID control as the nominal control and nonlinear SMC. SMC deals with the disturbances like parametric variations and modelling errors whereas nominal controller governs the system dynamics. The effectiveness of the suggested controller has been validated through simulation results for parametric changes and disturbance compensation.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"5 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133336322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A large number of distribution system DERs are interfaced through a power electronic converter. During grid contingency scenarios these resources have been traditionally disconnected, without any fault ride-through capabilities. However, with new regulations and better technology, it is feasible for these resources to contribute to the grid’s restoration after an adverse event and hence enhancing resilience. In distribution systems, system restoration is an important problem, especially in face of high-impact low-frequency events. This paper proposes a two-step restoration scheme for the power system restoration process by leveraging additional degrees of freedom in DERs for mitigating voltage problems. Simulation studies are performed on the IEEE-123 node feeder system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for various cases.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114075384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Voltage feedback control is applied to utilize the DC link voltage, and maximum torque range for flux-weakening region is extended. The analysis of voltage controller is carried out, taking into account of modulation delay and non-linear effect of six-step mode limitation, to issue the compensation performance with different voltage feedback gains from difference between the magnitude of voltage vectors. Based on those feedback voltage paths, the gain of voltage controller is optimized as an adaptive value by current vector and voltage angle to lead to a larger torque range and system efficiency in flux-weakening region. Dynamic performance and whole flux-weakening stable operation can be implemented with the proposed adaptive voltage control. Verifications are carried out on a 7kW PMSM drive system to prove the features and effectiveness of the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124536810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, considering the iron losses on magnetic materials, the addition of magnetic core may affect the system efficiency, at the same time, increase the weight of the IPT system significantly. Therefore, in this study, the aggregate influence of thickness, permeability and iron losses of magnetic core on IPT system performance is comprehensively investigated. Firstly, the equivalent circuit model of IPT system is established, and the formulas for different types of losses are analyzed. Then, 3-D models of the IPT system with magnetic core in different shapes are established to simulate the aggregate influence of core thickness, permeability and iron losses. The simulation results reveal that reducing the core thickness requires a larger saturation flux density of magnetic materials. In addition, only if the material losses below a certain value and an appropriate core shape are adopted, the addition of magnetic material can improve the system efficiency. Finally, experimental validation on a 3-kW IPT system are performed under the conditions of no magnetic core, using ferrite core in radial pattern and hollow square shapes, using nanocrystalline core with thickness of 22μm and 16μm in radial pattern and hollow square shapes, respectively. The results show that the high efficiency and the lower overall weight of the IPT system can be achieved when nanocrystalline core with suitable permeability and shape is used.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117234198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, the notion of the BackwardForward Sweep (BFS) approach in collaboration with graph theory and matrix algebra has been adopted for solving the power flow problem of both radial and mesh configured ACDC distribution networks. For this purpose, the per-unit current and voltage model of the 3-φ pulse width modulated (PWM) rectifier, 3-φ PWM inverter, and DC/DC power converter have been developed. The major benefit of the proposed algorithm is that it can provide a load flow solution incorporating various functional/control modes of the aforementioned converters. Most importantly, a generalized sensitivity matrix has been developed for computing the loop breakpoint allowing the approach to work both on mesh and radial networks. The viability of the proposed methodology has been investigated on several distribution networks. The test result shows the reasonability and precision of the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115342281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, we developed a visually equivalent light field 3D (VELF3D) display that can produce highly realistic, accurate images with a high resolution and a smooth, accurate motion parallax. However, the observation distance is slightly long, and users cannot reach the displayed images. Therefore, we aim to develop a tablet-computer-type VELF3D display that enables users to touch the displayed objects. The display viewpoint density has been increased to achieve a shorter observation distance while maintaining the display depth range. Because higher resolutions are required for a close observation distance and increased display viewpoints, we aimed to improve effective resolution using almost the same pixel pitch display panel. Therefore, we built a prototype that combines a vertical red, green, blue (RGB) stripe display panel and a parallax barrier with subpixel width slits. We confirmed effective resolution improvement by tiny subjective tests. This method also helps increase the depth range of the display when it is observed from a normal distance.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115829489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fuzzy controller was developed as an intrinsically hierarchical controller, i.e., the controller controls both the speed and the pulsating torque through quadrature axis voltage. The speed control has priority over the torque ripple control. This feature is achieved by properly choosing the inputs and defining the fuzzy rules. The rules for torque ripple control are fired only when the speed has reached its desired value. This is possible only because of the speed sluggishness, against torque fastness, and the fuzzy controller fastness. One of the advantages of the fuzzy controllers, including the one proposed in this paper, is that it is developed without the need of the machine model. The paper is organized as follows: i) motivation and discussion of previous works, ii) system overview, iii) five-phase inverter SVPWM description, iv) description of the prototype composed by an 11 kW FP-PMSM, retrofitted from a three-phase PMSM, driven by a FP-IGBT VFI, 200 Vdc, and a mechanical load, v) experimental results. The experimental results show that the torque ripple using the PI controller is around 6.0 Nm peak-to-peak while using a fuzzy controller is around 2.0 Nm (3 times reduction).","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125570388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Load Reduction can be readily obtained from residents by many techniques such as Load Aggregator (LA) and Smart Appliances (SA). However, in practice, it is difficult to make a fair clearing mechanism for firms since different firms have different electricity preferences and valuation on their contributions to DR. To address the issues, with the implementation of incentive compatible bidding mechanism, this paper proposed a novel integration DR strategy for microgrid. To avoid disputes in the contribution clearing step, autonomous quotations based on electricity valuation were permitted. To ensure incentive compatibility, a unilateral double auction with trading priority were specifically adopted, and the fixed proportion model was also utilized to avoid imbalance of DR source in extreme cases. In addition, to address the destroyed incentive compatibility in extreme cases, Vickrey-Clarke-Groves (VCG) mechanism was implemented. For performance evaluating of the proposed strategy, a numerical case with super price anticipator was applied. The result of the simulation demonstrated that the proposed DR mechanism can effectively reduce the profit of price anticipator, maximize the social welfare of each component and control the overall cost in budget.","PeriodicalId":289566,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125622348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article first introduces the principle of blockchain technology in detail and analyzes its application value in electricity trading. Starting from the traditional direct purchase transaction model, a framework for direct purchase of electricity for large consumers is proposed. Combining the characteristics of direct power purchase transactions, the distributed consensus mechanism is researched and improved, the smart contract is designed in combination with the transaction process, and the communication protocol and interaction relationship at each level are analyzed from the overall system architecture.
