To help monitor this situation effectively, there have been many researches that utilize remote sensing images to identify the spread of Crofton weed. However, most of these researches found it difficult to identify Crofton weed because it is mixed and entangled with a large number of other vegetation. In our research, data processing includes three steps: 1) Retrieving the spectral feature values of Crofton weed at the different growth stages through long time regional sampling; 2) Comparing the NDVI of Crofton weeds, forests, crops, water bodies, residential areas in the typical sampling regions by using the time series data of remote sensing images; and finally, 3) Classifying the remote sensing images of the research regions according to the distinctive features of NDVI curves based on the time series data. The outcome of following these three data processing steps is a relatively accurate classification result, which produces a high-accuracy distribution map of the Crofton weed.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"315 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123489215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For observing the urban expansion and thermal environment change in the whole Beijing governmental region, the central urban area and satellite towns were firstly recognized and detected, and then the central urban areas was divided into 5 areas based on the ring roads. After image mosaicking, masking and clipping, sample data of land cover types as water bodies, green land, bare land, construction land, farm land, and forest were collected and trained. Classification was performed using object-based support vector machine algorithm. Accuracy assessment of the classification results was conducted according to ground truth of regions of interest. The conversion matrix and band math were used to detect the land cover and thermal environment change respectively from 1991 to 2011. The results showed that, over the last 20 years, the central urban size was 5 times larger than before, construction land increased, and farm land and water bodies decreased, especially for areas outside the third ring road. Besides, UHI intensity in nearly 60% of the areas within the sixth ring road increased by more than 4 degree, and only 2% of the areas decreased. Both are consistent with the real status of the rapid development of economy and urbanization in Beijing.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124664214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to make reliable predictions of future climate, there has been a series of remote sensing detectors launched into the space. In this manuscript, characteristics of the present common observing platform and their product data are compared and analyzed. The results indicate that: GOSAT is inferior in systematic errors and provides limited of quantity of data. SCIAMACHY is systemically slightly higher than ground-based data and limited in coverage. CO2 concentration retrieved from AIRS is in excellent agreement with the ground-based data. Most correlation coefficients are more than 0.9, which has shown that AIRS retrieved results have the ability to reflect real distribution and changes of CO2 very well.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124860439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regarding to the disadvantage of the existing methods for video retrieval such as content-based or content-based video retrieval, the REST framework based on the geographic information for video querying is proposed. The main idea of the framework is to utilize the location, trajectory and azimuth information acquired by sensors such as GPS receivers and 3D electronic compasses in conjunction with video contents to query videos. The raw spatial information is synthesized to point, line and polygon according to the camcorder parameters such as focal length and angle of view. We defined the point, line and polygon as frame point, video line and FOV (Field of View) polygon and used the spatial relation of these objects and the query objects (point/line/polygon). And the multi-tier framework based on the REST architecture is discussed, the prototype system for video retrieval is implemented. As the video querying experiment shown, this framework plays an important role in video retrieval application.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129274941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That being so, the research on the distribution character of the on-shore gale caused by the typhoon is of great significance to guard against typhoon disasters. This article, based on 233 wind observation stations' wind speed data in eastern coastal area of China, extracted each station's annual maximum wind speed sequence, selected the Weibull and Pearson-III extreme value distribution models to fit the sequence, and used the Kolmogorov test method and the residual sum of squares to test the fitting effect. The Weibull distribution model was selected as the better distribution model when reflecting the disaster risk character of typhoon gales in eastern coastal area of China, then the extreme risk scenarios under 20, 50, and 100 year return periods were built to analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of the typhoon gale disaster risk. The results show that the southeastern coastal area totally has a comparatively high risk, and the coastal area of Zhejiang and Hainan, Leizhou Peninsula belong to the extreme risk regions in the study area, with the overall risk of the northern region being lower than the south in the study area, only part of Shandong Province has a slightly higher risk than the northern region. The typhoon gale risk scenario analysis method is based on extreme value distribution model established by this study has a certain significance to study the gale risk in eastern coastal area of China.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129587469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

GIS not only provides decision-makers with related information concerning location and distribution of public facilities, but also provides a nice visual tool to describe the background and structure of a problem. The most important point is that an analysis of alternative programs created by GIS would optimize decision-making. GIS technology is applied here to study the layout and structure of the higher education in Yunnan Province, analyzing the changes of Yunnan higher education's spatial layout structure from several aspects, such as the layout of college, scale of higher education, the relationship between the development of colleges and economy and population, exploring the relationships between higher education resource and relevant factors including geographical environment, population, economy, and so on, in order to provide scientific supports for decision-making concerning rational planning issues of spatial resources distribution of higher education in Yunnan Province, and to provide technical support for the scientific development of higher education.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124413185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Creation of cumulative visibility raster is very time consuming and hardware-demanding. Within high-performance computation, the analysis was calculated by parallel processing. Mallorca was chosen as an area of interest because it has sharp natural and elevation borders, so it is suitable for testing of advanced visibility analyses. After the creation of the cumulative visibility raster, it is possible to evaluate the terrain with many visibility characteristics, for example cumulative visibility, slope of cumulative visibility, or present target visible. A question exists if it is necessary to compute visibility analyses in all cases - even in the simplest ones. Are people not able to see what is visible and what is not, just from the representation of the terrain? The paper shows early results of eye-tracking evaluation of two different types of visualization of landscape - classical orthogonal maps and three-dimensional (3D) perspective views. It was found that for better perception of the terrain and deriving information whether the place is visible or not, 3D view is more appropriate.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115264759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We calculate three network indices of complex network model: centrality degree, clustering coefficient, and dispersion. We estimate whether or not Chinese interprovincial migration network has complex network characteristics. The results show: (1) Chinese interprovincial migration network has a certain complex network characteristics; (2) The destinations of migration usually concentrate in the eastern coastal areas, and the origins of migration usually concentrate in the central areas, while population mobility of the western areas is low; (3) A few “hub” nodes, such as Beijing, Guangzhou, and so on support Chinese interprovincial migration network; (4) The distribution between degrees and province number has “long tail” distribution characteristics, Chinese interprovincial migration network is a scale-free network.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115499535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
