URI measures urban populations based on urban terrain boundaries, URII measures non-agricultural population based on registered permanent residence. However, in recent years, the results based on the two different statistical methods present more and more different characteristics. This paper compared the difference of the two kinds of statistical methods to analyze the peri-urbanization in absolute level (PUAL) and peri-urbanization in relative level (PURL) in the pattern of distribution characteristics and spatial difference of county units of Shandong Province in 2010. Results showed that the figures based on the two kinds of statistical methods of urbanization rate were obvious different. URI was much higher than URII and the changing trend was similar to that of the Shandong Province. URI and URII reflected the similar patterns of regional space difference and presented a clear administrative hierarchy of spatial difference. However, the difference between the coastal and inland space was not significant. The PUAL and PURL trends were fluctuating, first rising and then falling in general for the Shandong Province. PUAL indicated the spatial difference characteristics of polarization to the high administrative hierarchy. However, PURL showed the characteristics of spatial agglomeration in different counties, but there were no significant differences in administrative hierarchy.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129465332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To resolve this problem, the key issue is that how to get locations of these components rapidly and conveniently. Although, GPS is the popular positioning system used in the outdoors, urban buildings and other objects, such as trees, weaken the GPS signal and decrease the positioning precise. With the Internet of Thing (IOT) development, RFID is a better way for locating. In traditional applications, many RFID readers or reference tags must be deployed to being a network for calculating coordinates of target objects. This has pitfalls of poor application in urban complex environment, expensive cost, and difficulty to maintenance. This paper presents a new method based on mobile RFID reader and vehicle-mounted Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to locate the mobile urban components. The method needs RFID tag pasted on mobile urban component. The cost is lower in this way. When the tag falls within the detecting range of RFID reader, the coordinate can be calculated immediately. This kind of collaboration locating is a novel method for positioning by combining mobile RFID reader and vehicle-mounted GNSS. An experiment is conducted and proved that this proposed approach is valid for positioning of mobile urban components.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129800231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increasing availability of complex health and social databases are providing researchers with new opportunities to better understand the determinants of CVD health and its outcomes. Users of such large databases have the challenge of extracting knowledge from, and making sense of, complex socio-spatial patterns of disease. This paper introduces a new web mapping approach to visualize rich and multidimensional CVD data for the Auckland region in New Zealand, by incorporating innovative ringmaps into web mapping. Our results demonstrate that embedding ringmaps into interactive web maps provides a powerful way to reveal multivariate patterns and construct knowledge from large CVD datasets.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129645293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is important to decide which atmospheric CH4 production is more agreeable to the surface monitor of CH4 concentrations. Taking the WALIGUAN (China) site for example, correlation analysis on time series between ground-based observation data and the three remotely sensed data showed that CH4 concentrations from the AIRS data had the highest correlation with the WLG ground-based observation data, with the correlation coefficient of 0.503, 0.565, and 0.559 for the CH4 concentration at 160hPa, 260hPa and 360hPa, respectively. The CH4 concentrations from SCIAMACHY and GOSAT had a relatively lower coefficient values with the measured data at WLG, at 0.355 and 0.279, respectively.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130764564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the level of landscape pattern detail represented by high spatial resolution images is different from middle and low resolution images. The image process and image analysis methods are also different as well. New techniques including image segmentation and object-based analysis are widely used in the high spatial resolution imagery analysis. So the landscape models and analysis methods set up by middle and low spatial resolution remote sensing are not suitable for the high spatial resolution remote sensing. In this study, focusing on the method for landscape pattern analysis for high spatial resolution remote sensing, we try to achieve the following goals: 1) set up a hybrid landscape model to describe the landscape patch mosaic, continuum and connectivity characteristics based on a unified data structure; 2) set up a landscape scaling method based on high spatial resolution image object-oriented analysis. The result shows that Delaunay-Voronoi data structure based on image object-oriented analysis is proper to set up the hybrid landscape model. Multi-scale image segmentation is better than aggregation method for multi-scale landscape pattern analysis.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129261603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Dianci Basin is the most developed economic district of the Yunnan province. In recent years, with the rapid urbanization especially surrounding the Dianchi water body, the impervious surface coverage rate has also grown rapidly and has resulted in severe degradation of basin water environment within the Dianci watershed. Extracting the dynamic expansion of impervious surfaces for the Dianci basin in both space and time is essential for analyzing the impacts on the environment. Landsat and other medium-resolution satellites provided the necessary spatial details and temporal frequency for mapping impervious surface expansion of Dianci Basin in the past decade. In this paper, we extracted the ISA informations based on Landsat images of 2002, 2006 and 2009 by using artificial neural network and monitored impervious surface change in the Dianci Basin by analyzing the multi-temporal impervious surfaces. Results of this study were as follows: (1) the area of ISA in the Dianci Basin increased 47 square km from 2002 to 2006 and 73 square km from 2006 to 2009 separately. (2) The spatial distribution of ISA was described according to the 2002/2006 percentage respectively. Most of middle and high percentage ISA was mainly located in the city interior of Kunming. (3) High percentage of ISA moved from the inner city to southeastern and south portions of Kunming and surrounding the Dianci Lake during 2006-2009.(4) Combining the change of ISA with social condition, the driving relationship was analyzed in detail. It was evident that ISA change has a deep relationship with the economic development of this basin in the past eight years. Because of the government of Yunnan province has proposed a “Building new developed Kunming city” and a “Strategy about surrounding Dianci lake development,” the new Chenggong city, some industrial parks and a new international airport have been building since 2003. The results were important and valuable for land use management, ecological protection and Dianci lake pollution treatment.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123001157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A method of modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) combined with K-T transformation was proposed to distinguish water body from mountain shadow. First, MNDWI of original image was calculated and the threshold values were set across the interval (0.25, 0.8). Then the original image was processed by K-T transformation method, and the pixels were extracted using the third component (wetness) threshold value of less than -80. Finally, the two images were added together after mask processing, thus water information was identified. The results showed that this method of combing MNDWI with K-T transformation could not only remove the influence of mountain shadow of MNDWI method alone, but also avoid the confusion of water and buildings existing in image after K-T transformation. The extraction accuracy of water body was up to 93%, which suggests that this approach has better performance than some previous methods such as single-band threshold technique and the spectrum-photometric method.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"233 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114159491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Human health is also being threatened. Shanghai has been experiencing a rapid urbanization for over two decades. It is challenging to protect the unique natural ecosystem for planners and decision makers because of the complex ecosystems and other factors. This paper presents an integrated method for planning urban land-use by combining HHM (habitat heterogeneity model) and MCA (multi-criteria analysis) with GIS. The authors evaluated the suitability of this method for four types of land usage including nature reserves, forest plantations, residential areas and industrial areas by taking Shanghai, China, as the study area. Factors considered in the model were soil characteristics, topographic attributes, vegetation cover, human population density and landscape heterogeneity. Results indicated that central city is most suitable for residential areas. Nature reserves and forest areas are mainly distributed in the three islands of Chongming County and southern, northwestern and southwestern parts of Shanghai. The industry area is best located in the eastern city. The success of this method in Shanghai can be copied to other developing cities in China. In order to provide a scientific basis for ecological conservation and biodiversity protection during urban development, we propose to establish a technical guidance principle on urban planning and a relatively uniform evaluation system.","PeriodicalId":286908,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122601423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
