In the first two decades of that century, buildings intended for maritime transport, residential buildings, cultural institutions, edifices with an industrial profile, etc. appeared. During the interwar period, several factories and banks operated in the city, education was represented by two high schools, two gymnasiums and eight primary schools. Among the cultural institutions, there was a cinema, two dormitories of the “Prince Carol” Royal Foundation, the Cultural League, etc. Some buildings were of modernist or neoclassical inspiration, and others had qualities of constructivist architecture. After the Second World War, several architectural and urban planning works were undertaken in Cahul. In 1947, the plan sketch of the city was made (architect V. Smirnov). At the “Molghiprostroi” Institute in Chișinău, some series of urban planning documents were developed that determined the subsequent systematization of the city of Cahul. The architecture of the new buildings built during the Soviet period was tributary to socialist modernism. In 2012, the specialists of the “Urbanproiect” Institute completed the elaboration of the general urban plan of the city of Cahul (architects Iu. Povar, V. Bocacev). In recent years, interesting buildings with two or more levels have appeared in the city, both residential ones and those of public interest. Starting from the eight ensembles or archetypal structures of the imaginary applied to historical evolution, presented by Lucian Boia in For a history of the imaginary, we systematized the artistic images from the researched lyric in eight forms, attributed to each time segment, thus demonstrating the complexity of the urban imaginary and facilitating observing the metamorphosis of the image of Chișinău City during the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Through this system of archetypal structures, we interpreted the lyrical creations that capitalize on the Chișinău urban imaginary, identifying the change of perspective both on the image of the city, in the perception of the poets, and of the city itself, on a historical, political, social, economic and cultural level. Distanced to the point of oblivion (19th century), then raised on the pedestal of admiration (20th century), Chișinău becomes a familiar environment (21st century), an object of culture and not of worship, an architectural space concretized with the generation after 2000.","PeriodicalId":283642,"journal":{"name":"Dialogica. {"title":"Sketches for the Illustrations of the Novel Don Quixote de La Mancha in the Creation of Pavel Șillingovski and Ilie Bogdesco","authors":"Dmitri Sibaev","doi":"10.59295/dia.2023.3.09","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.59295/dia.2023.3.09","url":null,"abstract":"This article compares the preparatory drawings for the illustrations of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra’s novel Don Quixote de La Mancha by Pavel Șillingovski and Ilie Bogdesco, two famous artists, whose work represents the successive stages in the evolution of graphic during the 20th century. The series of drawings represents different attitudes towards the process of illustrating literary works. In order to achieve the proposed objective, we have resorted to theoretical concepts, present in the science of “art history” and described by the Viennese theorist Walter Koschatzky, as well as the published diary of I. Bogdesco, which complements the artistic creation inherited from the artist. In addition, has been described and analysed, the historiography, including very recent, in which the series of works, proposed for investigation, is published. The sketches for the illustrations allow us to see how the image of the famous hidalgo passes through 20th century art. In addition to this, we also make a brief incursion into the artistic context in which these two personalities worked. Through this modest theoretical approach, we wish to join the series of events and publications commemorating the centenary of the birth of the great graphic artist Ilie Bogdesco.","PeriodicalId":283642,"journal":{"name":"Dialogica. He studied in Brașov, then, in 1877, he was a volunteer in the 6th Călărași Buzău Squadron. After the army, he got married and had six children, whom he unfortunately lost. Dumitru Seceleanu, being one of the biggest tenants of Bărăganu, strove to practice an integrated agriculture, applying irrigation and capitalizing on grain production by raising animals. He scientifically experimented with both the cultivation of new varieties of wheat and the breeding of new breeds of animals, always with efficiency in mind. He was a member of the Conservative Party, close to Alexandru Marghiloman, and the area of his entrepreneurial concerns directed him towards those specific to the bourgeoisie – oil business, the establishment of a bank and the spa resort of Amara. During the Great War of National Integration, as president of the Union of Agricultural Trade Unions, he was tasked by King Ferdinand with the mission of convincing the big owners of the necessity of expropriation in order to appropriate the peasants and ensure peace in the country. The idea of opening a musical institution belonged to the Romanian composer and conductor George Enescu, after his first visit to Chișinău. The capital of Bessarabia was assessed by the inspectors in Bucharest as having a high musical potential. The teaching staff of these musical education institutions was made up of representatives of national minorities, which meant a special approach to their knowledge of the Romanian language. The conservatories faced material difficulties, logistical difficulties and difficulties in gaining recognition from the institutional state, which is why they did not have a large-scale effervescence. The institutions of musical education were a platform for the launch into the artistic world of established personalities. It was created departments of singing, piano, violin, cello, fanfare theory, dramatic art, orchestral classes, ensembles, choir, accompanist and chamber, opera. Symphonic and opera concerts from the repertoire of classical composers were presented in the institutions, but Romanian compositions had priority.
