Our method extracts appropriate topic words according to their importance in the conversation in a time series using text data taken from meetings. Since meetings take up a great deal of time, one of the most important issues for organizations and companies is to improve meeting efficiency. Therefore, we should analyze the contents of the meetings, but in order to do that, it is important to be able to automatically extract the most important topics made during each meeting. The changes in the importance of a topic can be seen in a time series, so it is necessary to utilize topic extraction according to its importance in time series variation during a meeting. We can then find the topic words in a meeting according to their importance in the time series variation by using our method.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126187444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of graphics processing units (GPU) in recent years has led to eneral purpose GPU (GPGPU) and brought significant benefits to the AI research field. In conventional parallel processing, processes must be frequently synchronized; thus, parallel computing does not necessarily improve the efficiency of computation except for special algorithms designed for parallel computation. In this study, we investigate the effect of applying MultiStart based speculative computation on GPGPU. This method incurs little synchronization overhead. Although the effect of this method is stochastic, an expected value is theoretically calculable. We analyze theoretically about the effects of the speculative method, and provide the results of applying the method to combinatorial optimization problems.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130836258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the result of it, the material starvation has been getting a serious problem globally. In order to circulate materials from End-of-Life (EOL) assembly products, manufactures have to design reverse supply chain networks for the EOL products. The reverse supply chain includes transportation of the EOL products from collection centers to recovery facilities and/or a disposal facility. Then, the costs are required for recycling, transportation and facilities. Additionally, the EOL product statuses differ by users situation, and average recycling rate and cost of each product and part depend on the statues. To design the reverse supply chain network, decision maker (DM) decides transportation roots, the number of products flowed on each root and production volumes at each facility in order to minimize the total cost while maximizing the average recycling rate on the whole network. However, the relationship between the recycling rate and the costs become trade-off. Therefore, the DM has to solve them simultaneously. On the other hand, Linear Physical Programming (LPP) is known as a method to solve multi-objective problems (Messac et al., 1996). It allows the DM to express his ideals as desirable ranges for each criterion. One of the most significant advantages using LPP is that the DM does not need to specify the weights for each criterion. This study designs a bi-objective reverse supply chain network to collect and recycle the EOL assembly products for the costs and the recycling rate using LPP. First, based on previous study (Ijuin et al., 2017), the reverse supply chain network is modeled to transport the EOL products from the collection centers to the recovery facilities depending on the EOL product status which includes the recycling cost and rate. Next, the reverse supply chain network is formulated with the LPP in order to minimize the total cost while maintaining the recycling rate of the whole network. Finally, a case study is conducted, the results by the LPP and the integer programming (Ijuin et al., 2017) are compared.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129835457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The retention rate of student on campus may be significantly improved if an early alert system based on data analysis is setup and the intervention is appropriately deployed. However, to the best of our knowledge, the existing proposed early alert systems take the whole participants in a group or one single class as analysis target. In this paper, we compare different strategies and methods that deal with the whole participants and groups in different classes to identify the key attributes to improve the accuracy of the proposed early alert systems. Our results in this study indicate that teachers in different classes may make use of different functionality of LMS. Different data volumes are collected in different classes. A robust early alert predictive model needs to take the above into consideration.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122290800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, there are more than two agents competing for limited resources in practice. In light of the above observation, we aim to build a scheduling model for a three-agent problem. In this model, we aim to minimize the total completion time for agent 1 with the restriction that the total tardiness concerned with agent 2 cannot exceed a threshold and two maintenance activities requested by agent 3 must be conducted within two specific time windows. Due to the NP-hardness, we employ a genetic algorithm to solve this problem. Experimental results show that the genetic algorithm takes a little run time and generates near-optimal schedules.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"361 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116361001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, a one-factor posttest-only experiment involving two groups of university students was carried out in a period of three weeks. The results indicated that the proposed DGBL approach, along with the supporting materials in the form of TEBG, was effective for promoting the students English learning performance, English learning motivation, and willingness to communicate in English. Briefly, this study supports the idea that applying a DGBL approach in English classrooms can generate favorable student learning outcomes.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126663560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The advancement of mobile technology and its application has been changed the way of science teaching and learning and it can served as effective instructional tool for science education. Several previous researches reported that using smartphone could better increase students learning interest and motivation to learn science than ordinary class. The purposes of this study were to design and develop smartphone-based chemistry laboratory learning of solution and concentration by emphasizing scientific inquiry process. In this paper, the researchers present the results of a pilot study on an investigation of high school students perceptions toward smartphone-based inquiry laboratory and their learning engagement. 95 eleventh graders, aging 16-17 years old, in northeastern region of Thailand were recruited to participate in this pilot study, and they were divided into three groups for receiving different setting of learning environment. The results showed that the students had positive perception and they were highly engaged to learn with the laboratory intervention. In addition, the researchers found that the disparity of gender has a significant effect on their perception, but no significant effect for their learning engagement regarding the laboratory intervention. Then, these findings, particularly the effect of gender disparity, have been used to design a series of smartphone-based laboratory activities in chemistry concepts of solution and concentration. An implication of this paper is to provide pedagogical guidance for developing smartphone-based inquiry laboratory learning in chemistry with regarding the effect of gender difference for science learning.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127598926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The participants included 113 third-grade students from a lower middle-class elementary school in Taiwan. The experimental group used a game-based writing platform in contrast to the control group who used a pure writing platform. Both of these platforms built according to RCTR model which could help students overcome writing difficulties. Further, the game-based writing platform provided management game and peer interaction mechanism. The preliminary results showed experimental group students performed better than control group students on textual cohesion. We speculated on the reasons: game-based platform strengthened students engagement and peer interaction.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128805474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite large development effort, many proprietary protocol stacks are available only on the specialized storage appliances because of the dependency on the hardware or software modules. Most of these protocol stacks use original filesystems to store custom file metadata to be compliant with the protocol specifications. In this paper, we propose the protocol metadata module (PMM) which enables the capability of the custom file metadata on Linux filesystems. PMM allows the protocol stacks using the custom file metadata to offer the protocol functions in a protocol compliant manner on Linux servers. We applied PMM to our proprietary protocol stack to confirm that PMM can achieve higher protocol function coverage and reasonable performance. Our evaluations show that PMM increases the protocol function coverage from 75.0% to 96.7% on Linux servers while suppressing the access performance degradation to at most 8% in the typical file server workloads.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132135880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
