A new trans-graduate-school education program called Nitobe School was launched in 2015 as one of the main education projects of Top Global University Project at Hokkaido University, Japan. To foster the overall development of graduate students and to track their progress throughout the program, Nitobe School introduced a student e-portfolio called NITOBE Portfolio. This portfolio is accessible to the registered students until their graduation. The student can freely interact with the instructors, discuss with fellow students, submit assignments on the e-portfolio and most importantly track individual progress during the course. This paper reports the impact of utilization of student e-portfolio in the program for evaluation, and discusses the system development assuming wide-spread use of such e-portfolio systems for research university in the future.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128404324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, the behavioral patterns of the highachievement and low-achievement students were compared to explore the possible educational gaming behavioral patterns affecting the students learning achievements. It was found that the high-achievement students showed more deep thinking and reflective behavioral patterns than the low-achievement ones, implying the necessity of incorporating learning strategies to guide students to have deep thinking and reflective behaviors during the digital game-based learning process. The finding of this study provides a good reference for researchers and school teachers who intend to employ the digital game-based learning approach.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133053101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These special equipment and structural robots are equipped with advanced technologies, but the utilization of special equipment and rescue robots is low worldwide. It is difficult to judge the efficiency of special equipment and Rescue robots because the performance of special equipment and Rescue robots according to various structural situations is not quantitatively analyzed. In this research, we constructed various driving tracks to quantitatively evaluate driving performance tests of special equipment and Rescue robots. We also designed a Database to efficiently manage the test results transmitted from Internet of Thing (IoT) sensors on the driving track. The accumulated data in the databased are used for standardization and grading.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"153 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121743955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, a digital pen and paper interaction platform (DPPIP) with an attention recognition and review mechanism (ARRM), which is based on brainwave detection, is designed to assist the lesson review of learners while reading paper-based English texts, and thereby promotes learning performance of English-language. In total, 108 students at a commercial and industrial vocational high school in New Taipei City, Taiwan, are the participants. All participants are males, and the participants ages ranged from 17 to 18 years. The experimental group utilizes the DPPIP with ARRM support to learning of English texts, whereas the control group uses the DPPIP with the autonomous review mechanism (ARM), not supported by the ARRM, while reading English-language texts. Experimental results show that learning performance of the experimental group is better than those of the control group. Furthermore, the effects of different cognitive styles, different learning abilities and different attention levels of learners between the two groups on the learning performance and reviewed attention on the lessons are also studied. The results show that for the field-dependent learners using the DPPIP with ARRM support promote the learning performance more than those field-dependent learners who using the DPPIP with ARM support. Moreover, for the low-ability learners in the experimental group (with ARRM support) have better learning performance than those learners in the control group (without ARRM support). Additionally, for the high-attention learners in the experimental group have better learning performance and reviewed attention on the lessons than those learners in the control group. Finally, in both groups the learning performance of high-ability learners is significantly better than the ones with low-ability learners.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"245 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124694783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of the people are weak at making conversations with a person for the first time. Especially, they may feel more awkward if the conversation partners gender is different from his/hers. It is so hard to find suitable topics for the conversations that are suitable for them to enjoy the conversations. If any topic can not be found, the non-speech section will come to the conversation and will make the conversation partners be more awkward. The proposed system presents topics to the users. As inputting the users profile data into the system, the conversation topics are recommended referring the input. The proposed system recognizes their speeches in their conversation, and detects the non-speech sections in their conversation. If the non-speech section is detected, the system switches the topic to new topics and presents the new topics to the users. They can continue their conversation if non-speech sections come more than one time. We experimented the efficiency of the proposed system in decreasing the non-speech section in conversations.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124970078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The BBS is an agent-mediated interaction unidentified which will answer the questions. When the student ignores the questions and therefore he/she hesitates to answer, then question-answer (QA) agent does not get a reward from others. However, CME is an agent-mediated interaction can identify who will answer the questions. Agent-mediated interaction (AMI) enforcement to help answer the student question and given the reward. The being reason that QA agent may help the student in answering the questions and continuously teaching others. Experimental results show that the difference between interaction among learners using CME and BBS is significant. Help and reward can encourage self-esteem and self-efficacy. Notably, students may reflect negatively on their self-efficacy after successfully completing an assignment, or positively after struggling with an assignment. Human-Agent Interaction (HAI) appropriately in the way that facilitates learning and motivation in peerlearning environments.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125468176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, learning programming skills is not an easy task as supported by many studies. On the other hand, many studies have concluded that student question generation has a positive effect on students learning, but few studies have geared toward supporting its use in programming classes. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a programming learning system named Peer-Interaction Programming Learning System based on a question generation strategy. The system was built by adding and intergrading learning assistance functions by system initiative into existing open-source Q&A system. The usability of the system was examined for an undergraduate computer science course: Introduction to Computer Programming (n = 33). In this paper, we reported the design of the system and its user interface, identified several related systems, discussed our motivation and underlying teaching philosophy.","PeriodicalId":281712,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI)","volume":"415 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124168049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
