This work is a part of the road traffic simulation model ARCHISIM in which a model of the behavior of the drivers has already been developed and validated. Our idea is to re-use this structure to define a collaborative behavior. For this purpose, we add a coordination layer to the basic driver agent behavior. The use of a simple reactive coordination strategy called \"situated coordination\" allows the emergence of a coherent group of agents that coordinate their activities. Experiments earned to measure the performance of the group, each time a new agent is introduced, show satisfactory results. We also demonstrate that the agents succeeded in coordinating themselves even if the degree of the constraints imposed by the simulated environment is very high.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. This process has to be able to cope with incomplete and/or inconsistent information for the following reasons. First, the recommendations provided during this process depend heavily on the environment the decision is made. Since complete knowledge of this environment is almost impossible, decision aiding has to be carried out under incomplete information. Second, the decision aiding process also depends on the preferences of its user. However, such subjective information is affected by uncertainty, possible inconsistencies and is dynamically revised due to the time dimension of decision aiding. A complete description of a model of the user is also almost impossible, therefore a decision aiding process must also account for this source of incompleteness. This work presents a model of decision aiding that is amenable to automation and shows how it can be embedded in autonomous agents and thus give them the capability to provide decision aiding to a human user or to completely substitute him for some decision task. The whole process is modelled in a suitable argumentation framework that treats decision aiding as an iterative defeasible reasoning process.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. An ideal softswitch system can produce the best efficiency/cost ratio for telecom service provider of different scale and large enterprise. It is also easy to be extended and upgraded. Multi-agent based softswitch (MABS) is given to reach the target. The architecture of MABS is presented. The cooperation of agents in MABS is described. The protocol of communication among agents over Ethernet is designed as well. An implementation of MABS prototype is used to verify the design of this paper. This work presents a novel agent migration protocol developed in the IMAGO system. The IMAGO (intelligent mobile agent gliding on-line) system is an infrastructure for prolog based, mobile agent applications. The major feature of this system is that it is capable of coping with both agent migration and inter-agent communication by deploying a simple agent migration protocol. Observation plays an important role in the inference with graphical models. Since observation of each observable variable has a cost, it would be helpful if we can find the most relevant variables to observe. In a probabilistic model, a Markov boundary of a variable provides a minimal set of variables that shields the variable from the influence of all other variables. However, the concept cannot be used directly for observation. First, it is generally intractable to verify conditional independencies in a probabilistic model. Second, the Markov boundary members may not be observable. Third, it is defined only for a single variable. Finally, it is not unique. By revising the concept to address these issues, we introduce the concept of observable Markov boundary of a set of nodes defined on d-separation of graphical models. The observable Markov boundary captures all relevant variables to observe for probabilistic inference with graphical models. In an MSBN, the observable Markov boundary of a set of nodes may span across all Bayesian subnets. We present an algorithm for cooperative computation of the observable Markov boundary of a set of nodes in an MSBN without revealing subnet structures.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. However, this formalism cannot be easily refined into implementation even if some counter-examples exist. This work proposes another type of formalism called cooperative objects which are based on Petri nets and objects. We show how it may be used with benefits to model multi-agent systems. More precisely, we argue that the presented formalism can bridge the gap between the world of formal theory and the world of system development. A resource discovery model based on multiagent technology is presented. Agents maintain local resource information and mobile agents migrate on the network to discover shared resources. Multiagents cooperate with each other by means of pheromone and local heuristic information in an ant system. The system model and decision algorithm are described. Features of today's Web environment were advocated and predicted as early as 1945 (Vannevar Bush) followed by McCarthy, J. C. R. Licklider, and Douglas Engelbart. Technology has also been important (the stored program computer itself), time-sharing, CRT displays and now flat panels, the mouse, the Internet, the personal computer (with all its troubles), the Web, and adequate search engines. We compare what was advocated and predicted with the present interactive environment. Some things came out better than predicted, and some things that were advocated have still not been realized. Beyond what was predicted, there are still more possibilities, especially some involving artificial intelligence (e.g. understanding a confused user's state of mind), but also some involving (mere) hardware, e.g. the pocket computer with adequate display and input. An efficient algorithm is needed for this topic since the number of the possible coalitions is exponential. This work proposes an improved ant colony optimization algorithm to find the optimal, task-oriented agent coalition in multi-agent system. Ants incline to choose those agents who cooperated well before to form coalitions, which realizes the acquaintance mechanism. The novel \"inner hormone\" can avoid the algorithm getting in the local minimum area easily. The results of contrastive experiment show that the algorithm in This work is robust, self-adaptive and very efficient.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
