The manufacturer determines wholesale price, inventory replenishment cycle, and backorder quantity by maximizing its own profit with sufficient capacity. The retailers in turn take the manufacturer's decision results as given inputs to determine the optimal retail prices to maximize their own profits. This problem is modeled as a Stackelberg game where the manufacturer is the leader and retailers are followers. The analysis of the equilibrium of the Stackelberg game and its corresponding algorithm are given. A numerical study is conducted to understand the influence of some parameters.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Goal orientation is an increasingly recognized paradigm for agent modeling and development. In This work, we present Goal Net, a goal-oriented modeling method to model the goals of an agent and to model agent coordination in a multiagent environment. Goal Net also serves as a practical methodology for engineering agent oriented software systems.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. CLAIM allows the design of multiagent systems that support both stationary and mobile agents. Agents designed using CLAIM are endowed with cognitive capabilities, are able to communicate with other agents and are mobile. The primitives of mobility are inspired from the ambient calculus. The operational semantics reduction rules of CLAIM are illustrated on a practical example.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The fundamental building blocks of multi-agent systems are social agents whose structure can be formally characterized in terms of roles and relationships between them including authority relations. Social agents are bound together via commitments and different types of social agents may be bound by commitments in different ways. Agents are autonomous and may decide to deviate from prescribed behaviour and violate their commitments and obligations, but as a consequence they may have to face the sanctions as a result of the other agents exercising their rights.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. We outline our current work that extends our previous efforts in the area of improved agent interaction protocols by incorporating techniques inspired by narrativity analysis. We introduce in this context the notion of narrative nets, a representation based on coloured Petri nets that models progress in the current narratively-based concerns of the communicating agent. The basic ideas behind narrative nets are presented and an example system modelled after commodities trading is discussed.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Agents get information of the negotiation opponents in each iteration by means of Bayesian learning mechanism, and then bring forward the proposals for the next iteration according to the negotiation strategy based on uncompromising degree. We analyze Bayesian learning mechanism and use it to get the opponents' information; introduce the negotiation strategy based on uncompromising degree; discuss how the remaining time affects negotiation strategy. Our strategy regards the whole negotiation process as a dynamic interaction process, which enhances the usage of MAS in complex and dynamic environment. The experiments show that our strategy has good negotiation performance.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. However, there are still three issues remain unsolved. In centralized architecture with single middle agent, the middle agent itself is a bottleneck and suffers from single point failure; middle agents in distributed architecture lack capability of dynamic organization of agents; The reliability is not strong because of the single point failure and lack of effective architecture. We introduce a platform with ring architectural model to solve all above problems. In the platform, multiple middle agents are dynamically supported for solving the first problem. For solving the second problem, middle agents dynamically manage the registration and cancellation of service provider agents and application teams, each of which includes a set of closely interacting requester agents to complete an independent task. Redundancy middle agent technique is proposed for solving the third problem. All middle agents are of the feature of proliferation and self-cancellation according to the sensory inputs from their environment. For organizing the middle agents effectively, a ring architectural model is proposed. We demonstrate the applicability of the platform by its application and present experimental evidence that the platform is flexible and robust.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. This simplification does not reflect the richness of a real social environment. The quantitative increment from the simple two-party interaction to a multi-party interaction does not merely increase the difficulty linearly. In fact, it leads to a much more complex situation involving multimodal communication, utterance understanding, and interaction style. Here, we introduce a four-layer agent architecture with multiparty interaction support. A Newtonian law learning environment based on this agent architecture is presented and how multiple agents cooperate to improve user learning is illustrated. The agent's interaction ability within a multiparty environment can be realized in three sections: planning and task execution, communication and understanding, as well as learning and coaching. Our entire system can be regarded as a step toward addressing and solving issues related to effective teaching in a multi-user environment within a sophisticated domain.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
