A wide range of auction types are currently supported by e-Game. These are parameterized in order to allow users to tailor-make auctions according to their own needs. The main feature of e-Game is that it supports the design, development and execution of market game scenarios involving auctions analogous to those of the trading agent competition (TAC) bv third parties. Such game scenarios can be used for conducting research on markets, mechanism design and strategies as well as for educational purposes.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. This approach allows us to balance agent self-interests against a high joint utility. Experimental results show that the two-level coalition formation mechanism increases not only the overall utility of the coalition, but also the individual utility of most participating agents. The results also suggest it is better for the agents to be partially cooperative rather than either fully cooperative or self-interested in our setting.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. C. Hayden et al. (1999) is a common technique in agent-based systems. Maintaining coordination and communication between groups of agents, whilst relatively simple in the non-distributed paradigm, can impose a significant overhead on the developers of distributed/mobile agent systems. We report the design, implementation, and evaluation of a group communications mechanism for multiple agents systems.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. However, this effort is counterbalanced by the fact that travelers' utilities from car usage are more than those from taking buses in most cases. We build a traffic problem model with many agents who have the two options of choosing the car or the bus based on their memory of utilities achieved in previous journeys. Simulating this problem with a genetic algorithm can investigate commuters' behavior and can help identify if a Nash equilibrium exists in this model. We find that a Nash equilibrium exists in theoretical discussion but the population does not converge during the simulation to the Nash equilibrium point. Only a few travelers in the population moved between the two transport methods to establish dynamic stability and all others use only one means of transport throughout the simulation. However, some travelers choose to use the bus all the time (which increases the utilities of the population as a whole) even though their utilities are relatively lower than those of other travelers. Therefore, these simulations describe, the emergence of cooperation which is built on some players bearing worse utilities to obtain more for all the population.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. These methodologies evolved over time because of the changes in the operating environments (robotic hardware and software platforms) and specific missions accomplished by our robots. In the last four years we used PASSI (Process for Agent Societies Specification and Implementation) obtaining good results but, the growing experience and day by day accelerating changes in requirements suggested us to find a new and more versatile approach. In this context we developed the Agile PASSI methodology discussed in This work; it is an agile process built up capitalizing all the experiences done with PASSI and its supporting tools some of which have been adapted and reused in the new process.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. To conduct this evaluation, first a framework is developed to classify potential applications of software agents to supply networks. The framework was used in workshop sessions with logistics and information systems experts from industry, software/consultancy and academia to identify promising areas for agents. Based on the framework and the outcome of the workshop sessions, This work presents promising application areas for the near future and beyond.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Many researchers envision a future of intelligent, personalized agents in their computer workstations. These agents could provide a variety of personalized assistance helping to manage email, schedule meetings, gather and summarize relevant information, track progress of various projects, etc. Perhaps the greatest barrier to creating such intelligent agents is that the data observable to such an agent is unstructured and difficult to automatically interpret - it includes unstructured workstation files (text, images, and other formats), email, calendar entries, Web accesses, etc. This paper discusses current research toward such intelligent workstation agents, and in particular toward making this unstructured data understandable to computer agents. This research is being conducted as part of a multiuniversity research effort on intelligent personalized assistants.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. While the use of this paradigm offers a rather natural way to build simple behaviours, it is not so easy to define complex behaviours, and these are often built ad hoc and requires precise adjustments. Moreover, reactive model is not well fitted to describe deliberate group behaviours since it is more intended to emergence. For these reasons and in order to obtain more explicative models, we are working on proactive agent-based situated simulations. We aim at proposing a generic cognitive agent model. Such agents must build plan to achieve some goals and thus to propose a behaviour. We show why and how classical planning works must be adapted to the particular context of spatially situated agents in simulations.","PeriodicalId":281008,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
