The proposed parallel algorithm improves the parallelism between 4x4 blocks within a macro block (MB) by throwing off some inappreciable prediction modes. By partitioning a frame into multi-slice, the parallelism between MBs can be exploited. In addition, a scalable parallel method for kernels is introduced to improve the performance of the proposed intra coding. Experimental results show that, more than 20 times speedup can be achieved with the assistance of GPU. Moreover, the entire encoder can meet the real-time processing requirement for HDTV.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114375125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model of camera imaging is established using traditional camera calibration method firstly. Secondly, the projection matrix is deduced according to camera's internal and external parameter and used to calibrate the camera. The method of camera calibration based on two-dimensional target plane is adopted. Then the distortion parameters are calculated when the nonlinear geometric model of camera imaging is built. Moreover, the camera's internal and external parameters are optimized on the basis of the projection error' least squares criterion so that the un-distortion image can be obtained. The matching is done between the left image and the right image corresponding to angular point. The parallax error and the distance between the target vehicle and the camera can be calculated. The experimental results show that the measurement scheme is an effective one in a security vehicles spacing survey. The proposed system is convenient for driver to control in time and precisely. It is able to increase the security in intelligent transportation vehicles.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114621296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper an new aerial video images registration algorithm based on optimal derivative filters with Scene-Adaptive Corners is proposed. Firstly, the Harris detector based on optimal derivative filters is presented and scene-adaptation is used to control the number of feature points, Then through comparing the euclidean distance of the SURF(speed up robust feature) descriptors defined on the corner neighborhoods, the corresponding matches are established. Lastly, the transformation parameters are estimated using the invariant of five coplanar points, then the most \"useful\" matching points are used to register the frames. Experiment results illustrate that the proposed algorithm carries out accurate image registration and is robust to large image translation, scaling and rotation.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116779188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four properties of the moving cast shadows are observed. To make full use of the four properties, pixel level processing is adopted to extract the color, texture and luminance features of the moving foreground, and region level processing is introduced to detect shadows. Another innovation is that we also propose a method to check the reliability of the color feature that will be used only when it is reliable. Furthermore, by introducing the geometric center detection as a prejudge step, the efficiency of the method gets improved. The experimental results prove that the proposed method is effective and robust.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"264 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125719127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the common measurement matrices and the relationship between measurement number of measurement matrix and signal sparsity are researched. The performance among the common measurement matrices is compared. In order to obtain a better reconstruction result, an improved method based on Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of row vectors for matrix is proposed. The experiments show that the improved measurement matrix is better than the original measurement matrix when used to reconstruct signal.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125046375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the omission of bridges by searching the edge, we extract the river regions which the bridges are included in. Firstly, we segment the optical image to get the coarse water bodies using iterative threshold, eliminate the noise regions and add the missing regions based on k-means clustering with texture information and spatial coherence. Then, the blanks are connected based on shape features and candidate bridge regions are segmented from river regions. Finally, the bridges are verified by geometric information and the ubiety between bridges and river. The results show that this approach is efficient and effective for extracting bridges in satellite image from Google Earth and in aerial optical images acquired by unmanned aerial vehicle.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125502434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the hyper-dimension of the BOF vector has limited its implementation in large scale datasets because of its high computation complexity. In this paper, we present a new strategy based on the multi-resolution structure of BOF vectors to gain a speed-up of matching. We construct the new structure in two different ways: the uniform quantization method and the non-uniform quantization method. The main idea is to build low level histograms according to the BOF vector. We also introduce the VA-file method in our approach to give an approximation limit in order to accelerate the searching speed of multi-resolution BOF candidate vectors. Experiments results show that our approach has made a great improvement in both efficiency and computational complexity than traditional BOF methods.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126009184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We model the second-order statistics of image regions and perform covariance matching under the variational level set framework. Specifically, covariance matrix is adopted as a visual object representation for partial differential equation (PDE) based contour tracking. Log-Euclidean calculus is used as a covariance distance metric instead of Euclidean distance which is unsuitable for measuring the similarities between covariance matrices, because the matrices typically lie on a non-Euclidean manifold. A novel image energy functional is formulated by minimizing the distance metrics between the candidate object region and a given template, and maximizing the ones between the background region and the template. The corresponding gradient flow is then derived according to a variational approach, enabling PDE-based visual tracking. Experiments on synthetic and real video sequences prove the validity of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127117431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional Adaptive Gaussian Mixture Model will lose target when deal with arbitrary-long stationary object. In this paper, a novel method for detecting this kind of object is proposed to improve the performance of Adaptive Gaussian Mixture Model. Parameter restoration is designed to deal with arbitrary-long stationary target and solve the short-comings of the latest algorithm. The parameters among the K distribution of each pixel covered by the object will be restored when the object stayed for over threshold frames. Then the target will not be updated as a part of background model. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm proves to be a more robust method by detecting the stationary target in an arbitrary-long time.","PeriodicalId":277974,"journal":{"name":"2011 Sixth International Conference on Image and Graphics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117053887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
