They need faster channels for communications on a Data Analysis course, where they have to submit weekly reports for peer reviews. To enhance the interactions, we used an anonymized chat environment provided through Presemo software. This allowed students to use a regular web page on their smartphone, laptop or other internet connected devices, to instantly ask questions and answer them. Klein","doi":"10.52041/srap.15503","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52041/srap.15503","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this paper is to identify school, parents’ and students’ characteristics associated with educational achievement of students in the third, fourth, seventh and eighth years measured by a large assessment test. We analyze individual and school level factors that can affect the student achievement and, in addition, the work looks for factors influencing performance gains between two consecutive evaluation rounds. The analysis is conducted based on a two-level hierarchical linear model. The primary data source was an educational assessment procedure conducted by Rio de Janeiro City Council. The results confirm some findings already obtained in cross-sectional studies. Expomos as análises realizadas a partir de uma entrevista clínica com três crianças utilizando o jogo Travessia do Rio (Brasil, 2014). O jogo tem como objetivo analisar a possibilidade de soma no lançamento de dois dados. Nosso foco circundou, especialmente, duas exigências cognitivas necessárias à compreensão da probabilidade: compreender a aleatoriedade e formar o espaço amostral (Bryant e Nunes, 2012). Os resultados apontaram que os participantes não demonstraram familiaridade/domínio sobre o espaço amostral. A aleatoriedade foi associada a uma vontade ou escolha pessoal. No que diz respeito à independência de eventos, as crianças cometeram o erro de recência positiva ou recência negativa. We also provide a set of activities to be used with the software in the classroom (these activities were successively refined from several workshops with Basic School students and teachers). Estas situações envolvem também a articulação entre enfoque clássico e frequentista Resultados de pesquisas na área apontam a importância desse tipo de simulação na construção desse conceito. Analisamos discursos e produções de alunos quando estes mobilizaram conhecimento probabilístico na resolução de problemas em contexto de probabilidade geométrica. Observamos que uma abordagem não equiprobabilista favorece o desenvolvimento do letramento probabilístico. There is now growing consensus that the introductory statistics course should seek to develop statistical literacy. The objective of this pilot study was to explore and describe self-reports of course learning outcomes and assessment strategies, as well as the extent to which instructors of introductory statistics at the college level emphasize statistical literacy. The results revealed that for a considerable proportion of instructors, what they think they are teaching is at variance with what and how they teach. If this gap is not addressed, it will quite likely result in students not being adequately prepared in statistical literacy, as well as misrepresentation of the type and quality of instruction. One of the characteristics possessed by these elements is that they define the estimation error on a confidence interval - the sample size, population standard deviation (assuming that it is known), and the level of confidence - is its complete independence, in the sense that neither is conditioned by the value of the other two. Curi","doi":"10.52041/srap.15702","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52041/srap.15702","url":null,"abstract":"The advance of the use of computers in the students' evaluation, mainly because of the high growth of distance education and large-scale evaluation systems, means that there is a very promising environment to develop new ideas in computer software with educational approaches (Bennett, 2006). This kind of evaluation system can be used both on high-stake tests as in low-stake tests, as well for self evaluation and better guides into the self adaptive learning. Not just that, this kind of evaluation strengthens the adaptive test development, increasingly frequent nowadays (Gershon, 2005). Although the implementation of effective systems requires a very adequate computational environment, that does not just transposes a paper test to the computer screen, but improves the way the students assimilate the test information and develop their learning while answering the test (Frye & Soloway, 1987). In this project, we investigate the best ways we can apply a computer system evaluation into the statistics teaching in our university, using contents such as interactive media and different types of user interaction with the items. We are also trying to give to the educator the possibility of building not just classical tests, using known correction models as item sum and percent of correction, but adaptive models too, like using the Item Response Theory (Weiss & Yoes, 1991) . This is going to produce an open software, made to be used with an internet browser, which facilitates its portability into different platforms. Recently, some medical schools have adopted a methodology called team-based learning (TBL) which combines individual and small-groups learning in an interesting way. On one hand, TBL seems to be very attractive since it encourages students to develop new skills, formulate and answer questions and create opportunities of understanding the statistical concepts through real-world problems. On the other hand, TBL methodology requires a well-planned strategy and teacher/faculty preparation. Also, students have to be prepared. Implementation of TBL is not only a teacher ́s decision but a collaborative work. Partindo de uma demanda específica apresentada por um cliente, os alunos desenvolvem e executam a pesquisa em condições reais, inclusive com trabalho de campo, e apresentam seus resultados. O curso tem duração de seis semanas em tempo integral e os seus instrutores são especialistas das diversas áreas do IBGE.
