{"title":"The Necessity of Updating the Classification of Sciences for our Time","authors":"Vu Cao Dam","doi":"10.25073/2588-1116/vnupam.4381","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.25073/2588-1116/vnupam.4381","url":null,"abstract":"Nowadays, the classification of sciences was originated from the ideas of classification of sciences, demonstrated in Engels Dialectics of Nature, written from 1870 to 1882. \u0000Basing the ideas of Dialectics of Nature, Kedrov, a Soviet philosopher of Science had elaborated a classification of sciences and demonstrated in a workshop on Philosophy of Science in Zurich in 1954. Following the Kedrov proposal, UNESCO had suggested a classification of sciences, that is well-known in our time. \u0000It has been nearly a century and more from Engels' Dialectics of Nature to our modern society. Many new scientific disciplines are known in our system of contemporary knowledge, for example, Systems Theory, Game Theory, Theory of Mass Service, Theory of Optimisation, Management Science, and so on. \u0000It is necessary to update the classification of sciences for our time. \u0000In 1964, R. Aspects to be considered are: Perception of students, lecturers, managers about the impact of IR4.0 on learning and research activities; Model of scientific and technological activities (SRIC) at universities; The applying level of research results in training and teaching activities; and Policies and resources to ensure the connection between training and science and technology at universities. Survey data was conducted at 6 higher education institutions nationwide and with the obtained survey sample of 392 administrators, 1410 lecturers and 2311 students. The initial survey results show that the level of awareness about the impact of the industrial revolution 4.0 on the roles and professional activities of lecturers and students is not as high as expected; students' participation in scientific research activities in the learning process is not high; the coordination of universities with enterprises and research centers in training activities still has shortcomings; the link between research activities and training activities of each lecturer is still limited; and policies to encourage research, technology transfer and promote the integration of research and training have not been properly synchronized and effective. The introduction of the new mode of production, i.e. capitalism helped a number of Vietnamese, who had a relatively large accumulated capital, transform and extend their businesses or invest in the new ventures. Others w ere self-made businessmen, who rose up by their entrepreneurship and their desire to enrich themselves as well as to transform the society. Bach Thai Buoi was a typical figure among the most prominent self-made bourgeoisies in Vietnam in the early twentieth century. By analyzing the business development and activities of Bach Thai Buoi, this article aims to highlight the entrepreneurship of the Vietnamese bourgeoisie in the early twentieth century. Attention is given to the historical context and business environment of Vietnam in the late colonial era. The birth and business activities of the bourgeoisie, particularly those with strong entrepreneurship and self-made spirit will be discussed in detail. Despite their strong economic power in comparison with other indigenous groups, the Vietnamese bourgeoisie was significantly subordinate to foreign capital, particularly the French and the Chinese.
