After discussing the most important theories about ‘modern allegory’, and particularly the debate that has developed in the Italian literary critic around the ‘80s, a series of textual analysis are gathered, focusing on several authors, such as Manganelli, Morselli, Volponi, Malerba, Arbasino, Sanguineti, Di Marco. As we can see from the exam of these works, narrative allegories have an impact both on the formal and the content-related level: the allegorical impulse can affect the structure of a novel, its formal aspects and its diegesis, as well as its relations with literary genres.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116640429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meneghello quite literally seems to have ‘stratified’ his creative work through using this imagery, from the lithogenesis of writing to the semantics of the crystal, petrifying reveries, and the effusive magma of language. The líthos is used as a ‘probe’, a hermeneutic sounding device through which to investigate cultural systems, the sedimentation of collective memory, and the role of writing itself, and it functions as a privileged access key to the author’s poetics.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125167390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This publication aims to make Geiger’s poetical work available to a broader audience and place it aside his better known writing on Art History. Geiger’s specific role as a mediator and bridge between two cultures makes his poetical work extremely significant, as well as considering his prolific activity as a literary translator to which he devoted himself throughout his life. The current edition provides bilingual parallel text, preceded by an introductory essay and a biographical profile of the author. The critical apparatus highlights both the intertextual references and the writer’s complex links with the Italian and German poetical traditions.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115289152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By populating his writing with precise documentary research and taking advantage of the possibilities of invention, the author succeeds in giving voice to minimum destinies of History and save their high moral lesson. This can also be seen through a comparative reading of the pages of the novel dealing with Tito’s gulag, Goli Otok, and Scotti’s book, which is a historical reconstruction provided by witnesses of the events suffered by Italians who lived there.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116724939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Jewish Diaspora is the main topic of many of Magris’ essays and essayistic works, in particular Lontano da dove (1971). In other works, such as Microcosmi (1992) and the great novel Alla cieca (2005), Magris visits other diasporas, such as the exodus of thousands of Italians from Istria and Dalmatia. His recent novel Non luogo a procedere (2015) brings together the Jewish Diaspora and the African Diasporas through centuries of colonization epically and symbolically materialized in the figure of Luisa Brooks, the novel’s female protagonist.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"137 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130591006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the background of Moritz’s visit to Italy (1786-1788) and of his fruitful friendship with Goethe, the introductory essay illustrates the theoretical premises of the specific aesthetic itinerary covered by a work of classical mythology conceveid as Dichtung and codified by a very original and universal Sprache der Phantasie, emblematic figural language that refers to the iconic character of the text with the rich repertoire of lithographies based on drawingings by Carstens, inspired by ancient cameos and gems of Lippert’s Dactyliotheca and the Stosch collection.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124379380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The year of its first publication (1999) was a watershed moment in his career, as it paved the way to a new season of public engagement and historical analysis, which can be also seen in his later essays and novels. Twenty years later, Utopia e disincanto is still a manifesto for modernity, a deeply contemporary book where Magris’ analytical view is headed towards an idea of universal literature, an idea of Weltliteratur that should be a tool to understand the changes in which mankind is involved. These authors, whose works were partially translated by Magris, eventually played a meaningful role in his own writing. Besides affirming himself as a relevant voice in the Scandinavian context, his work as a mediator for Nordic literature has made him a reference point for Scandinavian studies in our country.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116096414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are not merely echoes or resonances: allusions such as to the legend of Vineta, the city beneath the sea, or to Heine’s poem about the troubadour Rudèl and Melisanda, as well as to Faustian themes and the longing for transformation («die and become») are closely linked to the central theme of a circular and recurring time. The lightly ironic tone is nonetheless a bulwark against the spleen, the «Sehnsucht» or the recollection and regret of the past; a past that resurfaces and continues to echo like the tolling of a submerged bell.","PeriodicalId":270497,"journal":{"name":"Biblioteca di Studi di Filologia Moderna","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126595061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
