Relevant measures have been introduced to reduce gross weight and power consumption of the RF payload. The fully symmetrical transformer power combiner structure mitigates the impedance imbalance caused by uneven voltage coupling between primaries and secondary. At 60 GHz, impedance uniformity between four input ports of the transformer power combiner is better than 5% in real part and 7% in imaginary part. Loss of the transformer power combiner is 1 dB. At 60 GHz, small signal gain of the PA is 16.8 dB. 1-dB gain compression point output power is 17.2 dBm. These transmission lines can operate from RF to millimeter-wave frequencies. The MnM-substrate consists in a dielectric material containing vertical metallic nanowires connected to a bottom ground plane. The innovative concept of the slow-wave microstrip lines on MnM-substrate is presented, as well as the electromagnetic considerations, fabrication process, and measurement results. Initial results show high relative dielectric constants (up to 43). Ultra-wideband chirp generators with rigorous linearity requirements are needed for long-range FMCW radars. The chirp generator is composed of a direct digital synthesizer and a frequency multiplier chain. One design is a fully integrated non-uniform distributed power amplifier (NDPA) MMIC. NDPA achieves typical small signal gain of 20 dB and produces 10W of output power with 50% or better PAE across the frequency band. The other design is a hybrid discrete packaged amplifier with bridged-T input matching. The packaged amplifier demonstrated 5W of output power and 40-50% PAE across 1 - 2.7 GHz range. The fabrication involves multiple steps of additive printing using a conductive silver ink and a PMMA [poly(methyl methacrylate)] photoresistive polymer ink. The inks comply with the rheology requirements of the M3D material deposition system. Deposition is made at 40°C and feature sizes involve 10-20μm. The maximum temperature of the process depends on ink curing and was 250°C. Their responses can be reconfigured between all pass and tunable bandstop filter responses by simply tuning the center frequency of their resonators, avoiding insertion loss and control voltages associated with the series switches required in conventional bandstop filter banks that have similar response reconfiguration capability. In contrast to previously shown intrinsically-switchable bandstop filters, the filters shown in this paper require only one tuning element per resonator, have a significantly higher quality factor (650), and use electrically-short resonators. The state-of-the-art coherent FMCW radar, especially, can provide very accurate result in small motion signal detection. However, the performance is sensitive to the clutters that surround the target. In this paper, a clutter reduction technique is developed to further enhance the performance and the robustness of coherent FMCW radar for physiological signal detection. By use of three-dimensional metallic nanostructures the majority of photocarriers are generated within nanoscale distances from the photoconductor contact electrodes and drifted to the terahertz radiating antenna in a sub-picosecond time scale to efficiently contribute to terahertz radiation.
