With the transition of Ukrainian institutions of higher education to the Bologna system, a number of reforms regarding the structure and quality indicators of education took place. In recent years, almost all universities require students to write and defend bachelor theses. As a consequence of the autonomy of the university system, each university has developed its own requirements for writing bachelor’s theses, which are based on the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “About a Higher Education”. The difference in requirements concerns primarily the scientific level of the bachelor's thesis. Most of the requirements formulate the scientific nature of the work as the presence of scientific elements in it, which does not quite meet European standards, where, for example, in Germany, a bachelor's thesis is considered as a research paper in which the student must demonstrate his ability to work scientifically according to standards of scientific probity. It's time to modernize our Uni.check anti-plagiarism program, because scientific publications from the other countries and older Ukrainian publications are ignored in this program, and this fact creates an opportunity for plagiarism. A serious difference to the Ukrainian realities with regard to the bachelor thesis lies in the requirement of the universities of German-speaking countries to formulate the research topic themselves and to narrow it down in such a way that the student's own contribution can be demonstrated.In Ukrainian practice, research topics are given and are often too general for the student to inevitably convey well-known facts in the bachelor thesis. The tendency, which only became apparent in the early 2020s, to offer special courses in academic writing at universities raises the hope that bachelor students will be prepared for academic work and will know exactly that they are writing an academic paper.","PeriodicalId":262521,"journal":{"name":"Germanistik in der ukraine","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114601149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article actualizes the peculiarities of teaching scientific academic writing to students of technical specialties at non-language universities and highlights the requirements for educational competencies that must be possessed by the engineer of the XXI century. The purpose of the article is to review the main tasks of teaching scientific written speech, which are gradually implemented considering the psychological and pedagogical features of teaching a foreign language to students of technical specialties. The content of practical work includes the basics of academic writing, in particular the rules of text construction; some stylistic recommendations, lexical and grammatical features of scientific language; formulating definitions of used terms. In the classes students are offered to study the basic search strategies for selecting sources in modern databases, drawing up a list of references, abstracting articles that were selected during an independent search. Then students begin their work on their scientific theses and articles. Scientific articles prepared for publication are blindly reviewed by a foreign language teacher and directly by a specialist in a professional field. In addition to mastering new lexical and grammatical material, students improve the skills and abilities acquired in the previous stages of studying disciplines. Thus, the study of the features of academic writing is in close cooperation with the consideration of professional topics, which, in turn, contributes to the formation of future specialists who can not only communicate with experts but also analyze the scientific achievements of leading scientists and present the results of their own research to foreign academic audience.","PeriodicalId":262521,"journal":{"name":"Germanistik in der ukraine","volume":"336 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122749113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As for crossdisciplinary rhetoric the homo loquens (Fry 1977) remains embedded within an accurate alliance of coherencies, conditions, governing principles and real-systematic dimensions. In order to achieve a sufficient level of publications, an increasing number of authors violate the rules of good scientific practice; reliable statistics are not available, but some universities report an astonishing increase of plagiarism. This phenomenon must also be seen in the context of today’s way of “measuring” scientific quality: the criteria “quantity” prevails. This article contains a presentation of criteria, which German administrative courts apply when assessing claims against the decision of universities on the deprivation of academic titles. At the first glance, it seems that the number of texts of another author is the main criteria for the decision, whethera scientific work is a plagiarism or not. But this criterion is only an indicator, the relevant criterion is, whether the author “systematically and in a planned way used other authors’ thoughts and ideas. As mentioned above, the quantity of publications is – unfortunately – the prevailing criterion for scientific quality. This leads to a complicated form of plagiarism, the “self-plagiarism”. From the legal point of view, an author can use his ideas and texts without limits. But due to the trend to focus on the number of publications, the self-plagiarism is considered as a violation of good scientific practice – but without the consequences, which are applied in case of real plagiarism. This core part of the article is framed with the description of the relevant norms of the German Constitution, of the intellectual property law, the laws of the Länder and statutes of universities. As an example, the statute of the university of Regensburg served for the description of the procedure of a university, when a suspect of plagiarism has been revealed.","PeriodicalId":262521,"journal":{"name":"Germanistik in der ukraine","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134235577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the extensive scholarly experience of the Department, the feasibility and fruitfulness of linguo-literary studies as an interdisciplinary area of contemporary philology is proven. Because the two philological disciplines are closely related, it is argued that their interaction is vital, at the least in the problematic complexes that deal with texts, writing and discourse. The research topic is justified with the help of relative German-language academic discourse, which confirms the overt trend of shortening the distance between modern linguistics and literary studies. Literary texts and literary language are essential elements of mutual academic consideration of the two disciplines. The links between linguistics and literary studies are showcased from a scholarly and historical perspective. Particular attention is paid to the 1960s-1970s as a period of mutual convergence of the two philological disciplines under the umbrella of linguo-literary studies. The key theoretical provisions used are those expressed by Roman Jakobson in his Linguistics and Poetics (1960). Among the functions of language, the scholar singles out “poetic function” and discusses literary use of language using linguistic terms as it is preconditioned by linguistic structures. It is emphasized that the integration of closely related disciplines is justified and ensured by the academic course “Belles-lettres”. Despite all of the interaction challenges, both disciplines work with texts and must consider their linguistic nature. Using the example of the academic discussion presented in the Literary Studies and Linguistics journal and given the activities of the Literaturlinguistik Internet platform and some recent academic papers, new directions of linguo-literary studies are set forth. In this context, the cooperation of the two philological disciplines at the Department of German Philology appears particularly promising.","PeriodicalId":262521,"journal":{"name":"Germanistik in der ukraine","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130017986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In doing so, a distinction is made between an authorial instance and the real author. In a first step, the structuring aspect of a scientific text is taken into focus. From this it emerges that both performative and narrative aspects characterize scientific texts. In a second step, the specific author concept underlying scientific texts is investigated: It differs from the author concept of literary texts in that it strives for supra-individual knowledge and statement constancy. The scientificness of an essay is thus not so much determined by stylistic forms, but by scientific procedures carried out by this auctorial instance: The more conformable they are to a field of action of a discipline, the more recognized the text becomes as a scientific contribution. If objectivity is guaranteed by this conformity – according to the thesis of this paper – the question of the appropriateness of personal or impersonal formulations becomes secondary. The decision to use the conventions of everyday scientific language (in German AWS) for the purpose of better communication is ultimately left to the author.","PeriodicalId":262521,"journal":{"name":"Germanistik in der ukraine","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125489518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The political discourse develops inproportion to the strengthening of democracy as a special form of communication. Today more than ever in politics, language is used not only as a tool for forming and expressing thoughts, but also as a means of hiding these thoughts and thus manipulating public consciousness.This paper illustrates the formation and development of a discursive approach to the analysis of political communication. Discourse analysis is considered in the article as an important methodological basis of modern research in the field of political linguistics, the tools of which allow a comprehensive analysis of political communication including the language plan, the plan of thinking and sociopolitical realities. The relevance of this approach is primarily due to the pragmatic orientation of political communication, which aims to control public opinion and impose politician's opinion on the people.Based on the work of leading scholars, the article defines the concept of discourse, as well as clarifies the concepts of public and political discourse, which are important for further research in the field of political linguistics.","PeriodicalId":262521,"journal":{"name":"Germanistik in der ukraine","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128263845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
