A simulation is performed for typical conditions of the Black Sea in a warm season. A channel model takes into account multipath propagation due to reflection from the water surface and the bottom, a typical radiation pattern of high-frequency transducers, the Doppler effect due to the motion of the water surface and the receiver/transmitter fluctuation, wideband nature of the channel under consideration and the unevenness of its transfer function, in-band noise in the channel, acoustic wave speed profile inherent to the Black Sea in the warm season, as well as its salinity, pH, shallow water temperature. The model is implemented on the base of an open source software Bellhop and Acoustic Channel Simulator. The simulation results show that, if the channel occupies band 125-175kHz and the transmitter power is 150 dB µPa, the signal can be transmitted over 400m with signal-to-noise ratio up to 40 dB at the receiver side. At the same time, multipath propagation and non-stationarity due to motion, which are inherent to the channel, should be reduced for high-speed communication purpose. Reduction of unwanted rays strength using transducer with narrow beam pattern is shown during simulation.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132651893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most common way to build a recognition system is to use a pre-trained convolution neural network. Relatively new architectures called convolution pose machine can represent a skeleton model of a hand or body from an image with sufficiently high accuracy. However, systems based on these architectures require valuable computational resources which might be inaccessible in practice. Convolutional layers of neural networks take a significant part of computer resources even if the target object (hand) is absent in the frame. This paper proposes a possible solution to this problem. It presents a combined hand gesture recognition system that uses a hand detector to detect hand in the frame and then switches to gesture classifier if a hand was detected. The paper illustrates the proposed combined algorithm. Descriptions of used hand detector and gesture recognition algorithms also are given. Equations for the evaluation of potential performance increase and experimental results are presented. The proposed system is tested on publicly accessible gesture bases and on video sequences prepared by the authors. The experimental results are consistent with theoretical estimates and demonstrate the benefits of the proposed gesture recognition system design.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131871900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This allows you to give the decoding procedure of such codes a significant acceleration. The resulting time gain is in demand in many application areas. The gain is achieved by pre-calculating the generating matrix of the equivalent code, the structure of which is set by the current permutation of characters of the code vector. The result of this calculation is stored in the decoder's cognitive map. Due to this, the time required for organizing the search for equivalent code is replaced by the amount of memory on the cognitive map.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129293291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recognition is carried out by two sets of networks following each other. The first neural network selects two digits with maximum activation functions. Depending on the winners, the following network is activated (multilayer perceptron), which selects one digit from two. The proposed algorithm is tested on the data from MNIST. The recognition error is 0.75%. Obtained results demonstrate that the minimum error with this approach is 0.68%, and the accuracy of the F-metric is about 0.99 for each digit. The main feature of the proposed solution is dealt with the fact that the proposed cascaded combination of neural networks provides a sufficiently high accuracy with a simple architecture.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"2017 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127557532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach consists of three main steps: preprocessing, shadow detection and removal, and road detection. Detection of shadows and roads is based on contour segmentation in HSV color space. After contour segmentation, the H component is divided into segments. The value of a feature is calculated for each segment and is compared with the threshold. Brightness is used as a feature for shadow detection. Road detection is based on the color feature. The gamma correction method is used for shadow removal. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130597613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method allows to obtain the result in a closed form, it is a modified version of the Luise and Reggiannini method for harmonic signal frequency estimation. The main modification is the introduction of a two-dimensional weighting function that depends on the magnitudes of two signal samples. Optimization of this weighting function is carried out by training in batch mode on the simulated sequences of signal samples. Normalization of input signal power and the use of training sequences with various signal-to-noise ratios allow to adapt weighting function to varying reception conditions. The results of computer simulation confirmed the efficiency of the proposed method and showed the advantage of a two-dimensional weighting function over one-dimensional versions.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134252853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel distortion compensation approach has been proposed, where the compensation is performed entirely in the digital domain at baseband after the digital down-converter (DDC). Distortion information is extracted from the signals of the main receiver and a linear reference receiver. The reproduced information is used for distortion compensation using a nonlinear model and an adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm. As the major advantage, processing at baseband with a low sampling rate significantly reduces the cost, the design complexity and the energy consumption of the receiver. The proposed undersampling reference receiver structure exhibits additional benefit in terms of hardware usage and energy consumption by using a low-cost and large dynamic range ADC. To verify the scheme's efficiency, an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) DRX with four QPSK channels is simulated by Matlab Simulink. The simulation results show that the method improves the Spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) with an increase of about 20 dB, compared to the results of RX without distortion compensation.","PeriodicalId":262164,"journal":{"name":"2020 22th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing and its Applications (DSPA)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127981065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
