Therefore, transmission system design has to look beyond traditional boundaries and to progress towards new solutions. The present paper deals with the main results of a research activity, made with the support of the Italian TSO (TERNA), based on a wide international review, aimed to get an international benchmarking on the CBAs included in the planning process of different TSOs. Starting from the results of the benchmarking, some proposals of revision of the existing benefit indicators and on new benefit indicators are formulated and tested, in reference to the future operation scenarios for the Italian transmission grid.","PeriodicalId":253384,"journal":{"name":"2022 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132297442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite of its recognized potential in supporting distributed and bidirectional Smart Grids, its usage is still bound to transmission networks, this is due to high deployment costs and limitations of static optical-based communication infrastructures to put in place. This paper proposes an SDN architectural model to overcome scalability and availability issues of such architectures: PMU-PDC therein communicate over a meshed network through logical paths dynamically managed by an SDN controller, implementing requested application service logic while curbing latency. This approach is first validated on a VM-based testbed, and tested afterwards on the Fog INtelliGent Edge Reactive platform (FINGER) reproducing a real Synchrophasor measurement network then.","PeriodicalId":253384,"journal":{"name":"2022 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132864426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the project’s aims is to develop a demonstrator inside the Distributed Energy Resource Test Facility (DER-TF) of RSE to validate a MV/LV hybrid AC/DC smart-energy grid. This research infrastructure will improve the DER-TF capability for the experimentation of: i) innovative logic for the recognition, identification and counterfeeding of the MV distribution networks faulty feeder; ii) hybrid AC/DC distribution networks with three front-end-converter and a bipolar DC microgrid; iii) advanced measurement infrastructures of network quantities and cable joints diagnostic; iv) smart-energy systems with electricity, heat and gas production, consumption and storage. With this novel method only the current of the power switch needs to be sensed; regulation is accurate and insensitive to the input and output voltages and to the inductance value, with no need of external correction circuit nor calibration. The buck converter works with constant switching frequency, which enables an optimized inductor design. It is also possible to change the regulation setpoint in a continuous manner for LED lamp analog dimming.","PeriodicalId":253384,"journal":{"name":"2022 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130316949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of resilience thus plays a key role in adequately coping with extreme weather events and in improving system performance. The present paper describes the anti-torsional devices, a capital light measure to strengthen the power system infrastructure against wet snow events, and their in-field installation. In order to quantify their benefits, a model of these devices is proposed and applied in the Terna-RSE risk-based methodology aimed at evaluating investments to increase power system resilience. The case study applied to a model of a realistic EHV/HV transmission system demonstrates the model effectiveness and the potentiality of the tool used by Terna to perform a quantitative techno-economic assessment of the portfolio of resilience boosting measures.","PeriodicalId":253384,"journal":{"name":"2022 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116706259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper presents the results of an application of this technique to a HV line in Tanzania, Chalinze-Hale-Tanga, identified as pilot project for subsequent realization. The case study has been selected, as pilot project, by the National electricity utility of Tanzania, Tanesco, and analyzed in detail, verifying the technical feasibility.
