Therefore, transmission system design has to look beyond traditional boundaries and to progress towards new solutions. The present paper deals with the main results of a research activity, made with the support of the Italian TSO (TERNA), based on a wide international review, aimed to get an international benchmarking on the CBAs included in the planning process of different TSOs.
